Did Dollhouse hit too close to home?

I was watching Conspiracy Theory tonight and did some research on some of the things mentioned. Tonight it is about the Manchurian Candidate or the theory that there is a government department that actually is developing mind control to where it can make people empty slates that they can use as asassins or, basically, anything they want. They do this by hypnotism, food and sleep deprovation, drugs and such. This is sort of what the show Dollhouse was about. I wonder if the government put a stop to this show because it came too close to home. Hmmm? Your thoughts?

Like, I mentioned before I didn't get to see Dollhouse as often as I wanted to.. OR much at all really.. But Yea, I wouldn't doubt it it depicted too much truth they would make it disappear.

This stuff has been studied since we were kids. It used to be called brainwashing. Did they name the department or give any other details? It's on at 10 round these parts and I have to go to bed by 9 if I'm working. Thanks for helping me keep up to date. I wish I could watch reruns online or that we could afford Tvo. Thanks and take care.

Actually, I think it plays better on Hulu than it does on the Fox site. Just search dollhouse and episodes come up. Season one is also out on dvd now, and it includes the origianl pilot and 'epitaph one' which never aired and helps make the series finale, 'epitaph two', make more sense.

I think I have heard of said show, and isn't Manchurian Candidate a movie? Well if so I believe I've seen said movie. In any case, I think that these things are possible and that they (the governments of the world) may have been and still are doing these types of operations for years, maybe decades. It's sad to hear about said things, but then again so much is said by the media, so much is discovered, and hidden that we just don't know anymore what is the truth, and what is a lie. Is it a good thing that we're so oblivious? No I don't think so, but at the same time if it protects us from mass protests and possible killings, then it's for the better.

Yes, there is a movie by that name. The scarey one is the research I did on the pre-manchurian candidate stuff. When it was still in the research and genniepig stages.

Well if they did I hope your safe putting up posts like this one! Anyway, brainwashing has been a part of politics for centuries, I think these shows and movies have taken them to a new level and if our government and others could figure it out the probably would. What better weapon then one with no emotions or self control. A truly scary thought.

Funnily enough Wheedon's previous series, Firefly also got pulled by Fox and that covered a lot of similar themes. There as a Manchurian Candidate character, River, who was on the run from the Corporate-Government agency that created her. She also held a secret about manipulation of the population by chemical means - although this only got revealed much later. I think Wheedon is trying to explore these themes and some people don't like it.

I wondered about that show. Interesting. I wonder if it is the amount of viewers or the complex plots and story matter that take them off. Maybe Wheedon knows something. Hmmm?
