The beauty of fiction is that no amount of explanation can ever justify the unexplainable. In fact there's no need to explain anything. Whoever attempts to only ends up getting confused himself.

But since some movies put more realism into the character of Superman, I guess they should put these two simple factors in mind, don't you think? :D

Ducking was probably his only means of exercising his hips so he grabs every opportunity to duck and yep maybe he didn't wanna mess up his hair especially that he couldn't get a regular haircut that often.

Producers should read this discussion so the next time they'd make a Superman movie or show, they;d feature kryptonite-based scissors, nailcutters, manicure sets, even dental floss!

I don't know what's wrong with me, but it's been a rough day, my eyes are tired, and my stomach is growling. Maybe that's why I didn't quite get what you mean. It's probably me.

Anyway, I saw season 4 episode 8 of Smallville (it's a TV series showing Superman as a teenager). Lana Lang, who was possessed by a 1600 spirit of a witch, came to Clark Kent's house to cut some strands of hair for her potion which needed a hair of a virgin.

But when she got the chance to, her scissors broke apart. She made up some alibis why she needed the hair so Clark voluntarily plucked one strand himself.

I saw it after I did this discussion so finally I realized that they did put this matter into consideration. It's just that, still it doesn't explain how Clark Kent gets his regular haircut.

Oh, well, I don't watch Smallville - in the comic the very idea that Lana would be a witch would be ridiculous - but they would sometimes address it in the comics where someone would take a scissor to Sup's (Clark generally) hair and the scissors would be seen breaking, just snapping off mid-blade - stupid.

When he was a baby, they'd show Ma Kent getting baby Clark to use his heat vision to "cut" the thread on the blanket - but I don't see how the baby could have that much control - oh well, logic plays very little part in these things ya know.

I was laughing at his statement which said Lois Lane probably doesn't have the scent which attracts a Kryptonian man therefore Lois must probably smell wrong, or smell like terrestrial monkey to him.

There was one episode in Smallville when Clark had the chance to do it with Lana Lang (his high school love) because he was, for a time, stripped off of his powers.

But when he regained his power, he was forced to avoid those situations knowing that he'd hurt her. It really messed up their relationship especially that he couldn't tell Lana his secret identity.

Well, the point for saying this is, in fairness to the show, being a TV series and all, they could gradually address these little details to make it at least more realistic than it should ever be.

Perhaps his body parts have different levels of getting hurt by his own powers. Inferior portions include hair, nails, and probably teeth!

There is one episode of Lois and Clark where Clark shaves using his laser vision (that's where I got it from), this was taken from the comic I believe, so it is probably correct as it is how the original writers wanted it.

I adored Lois and Clark when I was younger too. The one which starred Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher, right? I've always been a Superman fan.

I love lois and clark, I still watch it whenever I can.

There are lots of explanations on how he cut's his hair, like the one about a kryptonite razor.

There's also the one that says supergirl and krypto both focused their heat vision to cut his hair.

Another explanation that I have heard is that under our yellow sun his hair does not grow, it only grows under his own planet's red sun.

Do you watch smallville? well it's far from the conventional superman movies but it's interesting in a lot of ways. In here, superman I guess is more human, younger and commits a lot of mistakes, just like humans.

In smallville, you can really feel the burden of being like him on his shoulders. Makes you love Superman more.

I'm not sure I like how vulnerable they make him lol, I have always thought since I was a child that he was invincible and could beat anyone unless they had kryptonite.

My brother watches smallville all the time and has all the episodes up till now. He was actually watching it last night. I was going to watch it with him but decided not to because I was quite tired.

Yes, they have put a different taste to the usual Superman we know. They even gave his lovelife many wild twists! The show is really worthwatching, in my opinion, though.

Sometimes I even forget that this is a Superman story. All that sticks to my head is "the red-blue blur"!

By the way, what season is he on right now? Season 9? Or 10? I don't have cable TV so I only get to download the past seasons. I'm currently looking for episode 15 and onwards of season 9.

I am not sure what season he is on at the moment, sorry. He gets all his from the net, so he gets the episodes quite quickly.

Personally I prefer the Lois and Clark TV series, but that's just my opinion. I will watch a smallville with my brother every now and then though, it is kinda cool.

I haven't gotten over the Lois and Clark actually myself. But I grew to like the different presentation that Smallville had to offer.

Yea, when I get time one day I will sit down for a while and watch the smallvilles.

Even in Lois and Clark though he doesn't seem indestructible. There's like lots of inventions that can kill him or make him blind or deaf.

I thought it was only Kryptonite that could weaken or kill him.

I guess they cant make him completely indestructible though, otherwise there would be no story.

What's amusing about Smallville too is that there were many meteor rocks introduced there. There was red that made him extra naughty.

There was blue that took away his powers.

Silver which made him paranoid.

And black which kind of separates him into two.

It was fun seeing all those colorful rocks.

They said they were all in the comic books too but I haven't gotten to read them.

Yea, the Kryptonite is good for the story line, but I'm not too sure about the other ways he can die, or the fact there are some people with the same powers as him. It kind of makes me feel like he is not special, like the main character should be.

Yes exactly how I feel when there are other people from Krypton who remained alive and got to Earth. It's like there's nothing Super about him snymore because they can do what he can.

But philosophically speaking, what makes Superman different is because he was raised with human moral values, and love for human beings. So he's like half human and half alien, sort of like that.

I always hope that the other person with powers like his, either die, or get their powers taken away. =P

I understand what your saying about him being raised by humans, but also what I think makes him special, is his dad was like a king or something on his planet.
