Associated Content isn't like MyLot and I was just wondering if any of you AC writers reply to the comments people leave you on each article or any of your other submissions? Do you think it would get you a more loyal following?

I don't respond to the comments, but I will comment on one of their articles. I try to do pv for pv. It's sometimes hard to do, but it looks like it's working for me because I am getting more and different people commenting.

LOL. Someone, not mentioning any names (anythng) was supposed to be posting more articles to AC this year. I had a published notice for the last article I commented on, have you published since? HMMMMMM?

MommaJ, I have Canella and Trensue after me to write for Helium in the crafts section. This week I haven't had much time to contribute to either site. It's hard to find time some days. I think I have been doing better at AC with posting, but now that I can't see what my monthly earning is, I feel discouraged. How is your writing coming along? My earnings for last month were way up on Helium, and down on AC. Guess I know what I need to work on.

i dont reply to those comments directly. I return a comment to the writers who leave a comment on my articles. I dont know whether you are aware that one comment equals to one extra page view. When someone adds a comment on your article, the page reloads, and that generates one extra page view. That is why I always return a comment to those who comment on my article. The only exception is those comments by outsiders. If they ask a question, I will make a reply to answer the question.

Hey Scheng, glad to see you around. How is all your blogging going? Is it proving to be more successful for you than writing for Helium and AC? I am thinking of starting up a travel blog...if I can just wiggle in the time. Whew! I can hardly do what I am supposed to be doing, but I always have another plan. Glad to see you here on MyLot!

Hi scheng! It's been awhile. I saw your comment to Canellita on AC about what I am going to do to clout 10 before she gets there. LOL You are soooo funny. I have missed your writing as well as your comments. Glad you have blessed us with your smiley presence.

So what she is saying is that if we want to hear from her now that she is this important blogwoman, we must visit her AC articles and leave comments!

It really depends on the comment. If it is a nice comment then I will sometimes comment back. I will also comment back if a question is asked. I think that answering your readers could possibly get you more people that follow your articles however I havent got any followers this way. personally I dont really like the commenting since people can be mean since they can comment anonymously.

I think it's sweet to reply to those who leave nice, or helpful, comments. But you're right about the anonymous comments. Not sure if I like those either.

While I appreciate people taking the time to leave comments I have only ever had one person comment (my mother) who was not a member of AC. The comments don't come any where near close to the page views so I don't participate in read my stuff and I'll read yours. If someone posts a comment I will respond to them directly and if I have time I will read something of theirs and post a comment, but sometimes the writing is not very good or the topics are unappealing. I think if you can find people you know who are interested in reading your writing and add them as followers so they get an email everytime you publish it would be more effective. Especially if you have the kinds of friends and relatives who wil forward the notifications to others they know.

It does take a while, and a little bit of work, before you can get a following. But once you do it's very rewarding. There's an awful lot of great writers on AC. Some pro writers have joined the ranks also.

It doesn't take anytime to get a following. All you have to do is go to the section that allows you to enter your own followers and put in the email addresses of people you know who are interested in your writing. I have always had people in my real life who followed my writing and getting articles published never had anything to do with how many fans I had. I could have a lot more followers on AC but I just don't publish there very often and I have not taken the time to add the info of everyone I know who would be interested in reading my stuff.

If someone has a question about one of the how to articles I've posted, I'll try to respond to it and help them out. moat of the comments I get on articles over there consist of smiley faces. I just smile back at the monitor and keep it moving.

Honestly, I don't think I've gotten too many comments on my articles....But then again, I haven't really published that many either, lol. But I know on one of them I did respond to some of the comments, but after that, they didn't respond back, so I just gave up on that. .

Although I can't always keep up with the comments, when someone comments on my article, I try and go over and comment on one of theirs. It takes time to read other people's articles, but I figure that is the only way to keep them as readers. Of course, I can't cover everyone and every comment, but I try and put some honest time into doing this. If someone asks a question on the article, I send them a personal message answering. I don't expect them to go back to the article for the answer, although I have done so myself with other people's articles when I was curious (and remembered). I think the best way to get and keep readers is to share some of your time and give them some page views and comments back.

I don't reply to the comments I get unless they are of such a content that I need to to dispell the wrong impression or something like that. If I did reply to everyone I get i would never get anything else done. I don't really think they expect it. I might thank them in an email at some point if I feel the need to do so.
