A little annoyed with Glenn Beck lately | | | | I like Beck, let me say that to start with, I watch his show and I like that I get stories and info that is ignored by most of the media, including the rest of Fox News. Lately however he has shown a disturbing trend with his tea party support, that is, supporting more of the hijacked part of the movement rather than the independant/libertarian masses. Recently though, and this is what annoyed me, he interviewed Texas gubinitorial candidate Debrah Mediana on his radio show. Medina is the quintessential liberty candidate, a very Ron Paul-esque person. In recent polls she has screamed ahead, leaving Hutchinson in the dust and nearly catching up to Perry. A few polls even showed her ahead of Perry in a primary and it is certain that if she were to take the republican nomination, she would win the governors seat. she could probably even take the seat if she ran as an indepandant. In this interview, she was asked about her beliefs on the events of 9/11 and she basicly responded by saying she didn't think we had all the answers. Well, isntantly the main stream media grabbed this and used it to bash her as a 9/11 turther and a conspiricy nut. Though it didn't seem to hurt her in the polls and in fact garnished her even more exposure and donations. One could even say that Beck should be thanked for this. BUT....his intent was apparent, to discredit her. Palin, someone whom beck seems to have taking a liking to, is a staunch supporter of Current governor Perry and is endorsing and campaigning for him, so I suspect this may be why Beck did what he did, to maintain the hold the commercial establishment has on the tea party movement and eliminate the real liberty candidates. To wit...in a brief exchange with a group "we are change", a group that advocates new 9/11 invetigations, Palin was asked if she supported a new investigation...her answer was a resounding and definitive "yes". So, why hasn't Beck or anyone else called HER out on it? Not that I disagree, I think a new investigation should be launched. But the double standard is astounding. Palin Fans, don't believe she said this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPDbmQmV6O8 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | I think Glenn Beck takes some getting used to, for one thing. I still think that his buffoonery might put people off, but I've come to see it as his manner, and it doesn't bother me as much. Sometimes, it still does if it seems inappropriate. I agree he often covers the stories that no one else picks up on, and I am grateful for a lot of the information. The problem with following personalities is that they are going to occasionally do something to disappoint. If Beck was throwing a shadow over Medina because of Palin's support of Perry, I think it diminishes him in my eyes, at least as a source of unbiased information. Unfortunately, no human comes without some biases. My honest opinion of Medina's comments were that she was trying to sit on the fence and not make either side unhappy. She gave no specific opinion but left it open for interpretation. That's politics for you. I don't think she said enough to identify herself as a truther. We expect Beck to be the guy who goes way out there where others fear to tread. But if he doesn't hold to his non-partisan stance - endorsing no party and supporting the Constitution - then he will lose his credibility with those who tune in for just that. | | | | | | | xfahctor (7623)

| | she is a truther sympathizer...and I don't see anything wrong with that. I may not personaly buy in to the whole NWO plot myself, but I don't think we have the entire story either. Medina wa caught off guard by the question, that was obvious. but my issue is it almost seemed like a baitied question, almost as if it was intentional, to throw her off and trip her up. He has in fact lost a great deal of credibility with me over that. If he was a true libertarian, he would be more supportive of candidates like her over establishment republicans like Perry. I don't blame him for not overtly advocating anyone...but he has no problem openly tearing down others he feel deserve it....why not the very establishment types he claims to be against? Why turn around and intentionaly try to make a liberty candidate look like an arse if you don't have some deeper motives? | | | | Rollo1 (2827)

| | Beck has made a huge effort to distance himself from birthers and truthers. I think that he and Bill O. believe this will keep them from being regarded as kooks. I am not a truther, but I see no harm in further investigation. The bottom line may be that the American public shouldn't know everything for security reasons. I may be okay with that, if it's in the interest of national security. | | | | | workathomeexperiment (27)

| | I would like to see this interview with the candidate that you referred to so that I can make an opinion about it. If Glenn likes somebody, he is pretty blunt about it, and if he doesn't like somebody he is the same way. At least from what I have seen. I seen the youtube video of Sarah Palin, and the response is not defining her as a truther, but is more of a "cover all your bases" type of response. Investigate further ? Why not, since there are a lot of people who feel there is a conspiracy at large. I would do the same thing if I were Sarah. As far as Glenn's style is concerned, he is who he is. And he is Hi-Lar-I-Ous ! It helps you to remember some of things he is saying through that humor by keeping you entertained and not at all bored. And everyone needs to remember, he is not a journalist, but rather an entertainer. I always reserve the right to change my opinion, but right now I am in step with at least 95% of what he has brought to the table. | | | | | | | Is IncomeAtHome Legit? | | Perhaps if she had just answered the question she would have fared better. I heard that show and she hemmed and hawed and hedged to avoid answering the question. What ever happened to a straight yes or no? Politicians are incapable of doing that. She could have said "no, not at the moment but we don't have all the facts." As it was, I was disgusted by her evasion--just like every other politician. I don't follow Palin so I'm not familiar with that reference. Mr. Beck may very well have been out to discredit Medina but she did it to herself, in my opinion. | | | | | | | xfahctor (7623)

| | I agree, she was waling a line, but she did come out and say that she thinks more investigating needs to be done at least she was upfront about that much. It was a baited question though and thats what bugged me. Unfortuneatly Mrs Medina is not a seasoned politician and was caught off gurd, so it did trip her up. Other than that, I personaly feel she is just the type of governor our states need these days. She certainly has a lot more spine than my wimpyarse federal boot licker. | | | | | | | | | The Name Above All In A Pinch, Who Do You Call? www.WH.org | add comment | | | |

| | I have became disgusted with Glen Beck myself,he like Bill O' and Shep Smith has called American citizen who have rightfully called for the legal proof Obama is an American citizen kooks, birther's and other names. At no time has Obama came clean with his place of birth, instead Obama has his legal defense team going from state to state to fight his eligibility cases at the tune of more then 1.7 million dollars, certainly not actions of a person born in the state of Hawaii in 1961 in my opinion. If Obama is a nature born citizen put the dam long form birth certificate online and let professional document reads review the dam birth certificate, seems easy enough to me. There is some cover up even with Fox's news in regard to Obama's birth certificate with out question. Fox's News is the most reliable cable news outlet that is why they are number one in cable news rating seriously hurting MSNBC and CNN ratings, with that said they are a big part of the Obama citizenship cover up. Far as my opinion Fox's News is in bed with the wall to wall cover up of Obama citizenship. Fox's News little by little is losing creditability with a lot of Americans their news people one by one are siding with the corruption in our government guess to save their own skins. There is something very much wrong,no one has seen Obama true long form birth certificate so people like Bill O' Shep Smith and Glen Beck in my opinion are way out of line calling people who demand to know if Obama is eligible to hold office as president of the United States ugly names. Glen Beck is very smart maybe to smart for his own good but he is part of the biggest cover up in our history and he has lost credibility with me. | | | | | | | anniepa (11669)

| | You obviously have respected O'Reilly, Beck and everyone else from Fox News since I've known you here, now suddenly, after bragging day after day about Fox's top ratings you're saying they're losing credibility with a lot of Americans over the one thing they've gotten right? Either the individual commentators or someone in charge there has the intelligence to know if they embraced the birthers they'd lost ALL credibility. | | "He is way into conspiracy theories for me" Define conspiricy theory? It's a pretty broad brush. There is quite a bit of his material that I came to well before he did and reached the same conclusion based on same and cooberating evidence I dug up on my own. There is quite a bit goin on most folks aren't ready to believe. I spend time at prisonplanet's forum....trust me I KNOW conspiricy lunacy all too well. But even in there there are pretty starkly true, startling things being written and posted about. You just have to sift through the junk. But I digress. I am just really peaved he has been raking Medina through the coals, she truly doesn't deserve it and is genuinely just the kind of governors our states need. She's Ron Paul in a skirt. ALL of our states should be so lucky. I'm even more peaved now because he just did it AGAIN on his show. Pretty much marginalized her and put her in the "extremist" catagory. | | I use to be a big fan of Glenn when he first started his radio show, and only spent a portion of his show talking about his love affair with far right wing conservatives. The thing that makes me laugh is the fact that you very rarely heard a word about his TV show when it was on CNN, but since he moved to FOX he is like the flavor of the week. Everyone on here has to start discussion about some of the foolish things he talks about (which at times he does on purpose to lighten up your day). When it comes to your issue with Beck, it has more to do with the tea party movement that wants to be a different voice, but has made a horrible decision to support Palin. She doesn't fit the tea party movement at all, and as a matter of fact is everything the movement hates. While governor of Alaska, her state took every dime they could find from the US tax payers. She also is a huge supporter of the oil industry, who spend millions every year buying representative to vote they way they want. She supported taxing the oil companies more because they were making more money off the sale of oil. If I removed the name Palin from all of these things, and inserted the name Obama would you agree that this is part of his platform? To all of you Palin lovers (and you know who you are) I AM NOT BASHING HER. I am just pointing out the facts. This whole situation is like high school and Palin is the cool kid in school. Everybody hangs on every word like it is biblical, and no one wants to piss her off, because then you won't be cool. She sits on both sides of the fence, speaking at tea parties, then supporting, and hanging out with establishment republicans. If you ever really listen to what she says, she is rarely ever specific, and speaks in popular talking points, and generalities. If no one knows where you really stand, then you can be everything to everyone. When really you are nothing to anyone! | | | | | | | thegreatdebater (1838)

| | thegreatdebater, As governor of Alaska Sarah Palin took the oil companies to court and won her case, millions of dollars was return to the people of Alaska. Governor Palin along with a few other good governor happen to refuse the stimulus money, these governors was threaten by the Obama administration because they would not take it. When the stimulus was doled out Alaska had 300 million dollars in their rainy day fund and the state accounting was balanced to the last penny. Glen Beck is not a Palin fan he endorses no one,Beck uses charts, pictures, videos which with out question have condemned Obama's old political pal's out of Chicago. When you take your smear paint brush at least use some real facts to do it. | | | | thegreatdebater (1838)

| | Kenny, your idol Palin had no problem taking every dime of PORK she could find, and when she couldn't find anymore, she hired a lobbyist to find more. We all remember the "Bridge to nowhere", and we all know that had Palin's finger prints all over it. Palin fought to tax the oil companies as much as she could, and as you put it even went to court to do so. If Obama did something like this, YOU would attack him for years. When Palin does it, you praise her. Can you say: HYPOCRISY? I am sure you can't KENNY!!! | | | | xfahctor (7623)

| | Debater, the actual tea parties aren't endorsing her and her like, only the establishment that hijacked it. Unfortunatly that establishment has the money and clout to get the loudest voice in it. While candidates like Medina are marginalized. I did notice Beck doing a lot of sudden back paddling on her the last few minutes of his segmant though. I suspect he is under A LOT of fire over his initial treament of her, in fact, he said he had texans screaming at him over it. I was so ready to call in to his radio show this morning and ream his arse over it, I still might. | | | | thegreatdebater (1838)

| | X, I understand that Palin isn't endorsed by this group, but they paid her $100,000 to speak in front of their convention. Would you pay someone that kind of money if you didn't agree with what they had to say? I think this race in Texas is not going to be good for republicans or tea party supporters. They very well could fight against each other, split the votes, and both parties could lose the election. But, this may be the best thing for the Independent movement to show the republicans that they mean business, and can control elections. If that is what the Independent movement wants to accomplish. | | | | xfahctor (7623)

| | The "group" that paid for her to speak and charged attendees the convention fee (raised by local groups to send reps) is not, I repeat (that important) NOT the tea party, it was a convention called to solidify a hijcking. I wish groups had just boycottedd it, all of them. but i guess they figured it was at least a chance to be heard and seen as a viable movement. Many were lead like sheep to it thinking it was a big ol' grass roots convention. I don't know that I would discount the liberty movement in Texas or Medina's candidacy. this woman has a very ron Paul apeal to her supporters and she despite the contrived controversies over her, she continues to gain more and more support. She could easliy beat Kay Baily Butchinson in a general if it were held today and she were the republican candidate, not sure how she would do as a third and independant candidate between her, Perry and Kay...either way, a lot can happen in 8 months so who knows. | | | | | | | Tea Party Lapel Pins If you're "tea'd off"show it with Tea Party Lapel Pins. www.bagwellpromotions.com | add comment | | | |

| | You can keep Glen there are Progressives everywhere Beck, I only watch his show when the Judge is guest hosting. As to who Glen supports and does not support, what can I say he has a crush for Palin, and Perry came to his Unelectable tour in it came to Texas. Back in 08 he called Ron Paul a nut job for wanting to withdraw from Iraq which ironically now Beck is calling for. Interesting how Beck support continued involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan with Bush but now against involvement with Obama. As to this 9/11 investigation remember Palin is hot to Beck that is and Medina is not. | | | | | | | xfahctor (7623)

| | There's hope for you after all...lol! I have to say when Palin appeared on Beck's show the week she was making the rounds on Fox I thought he acted like a love-sick teenager. When he read what he'd written in his diary or journal about his meeting with Palin I think even she was uncomfortable. Anyway, now Palin's telling tea partiers they should start "pickin' a party" so I'm wondering if Beck will follow her lead there and decide to officially endorse GOP candidates. About Medina, I heard a few bites of a speech she'd made recently where it sounded kind of like she's in favor, or could be in favor of Texas seceding from the Union. Any thoughts there? | | No, Median is just a solid advocate of nullification, nothing more. She is not a secessionist. That is something that has been put out there about her to discredit her and make her look like some kind of exteemist loon. no, Medina is just a good solid liberty styled candidate in the spirit of those like Ron Paul. I watched a bit of a 3 way debate between her, Perry and Hutchinson...she handed both of them their own @sses on a silver platter with a side of fries. This is the type of public servant we should all be looking for both in our state governments and at the national level, so people in the national establishment and main strem media (fox included) just CAN'T have that. so, they have to make her look like a loon and marginalize her, ie; "she's a truther!", "she's a sesesionist!". etc. Next thing they will be tieing her in with the likes of that brain dead plot who crashed his plane in to the IRS building....I'm telling you wait for it, pretty quick you will be hearing her name in assosiation with him in some way when she is talked about in the media. | | | | | | | Talk Radio Looking For Talk Radio?
