Do we you think we still need a prophet today?  

I agree! Prophets are still very important these days because they are the ones who get the direct information from God about what's going to happen in the world. We all need the direction and revelation for us to live righteously. Just like in the old times, when we can still remember the prophet Noah, we was commanded by God to built a ship and cry repentance among the people but the people didnt listen to him and because they didnt listen they died. So same thing goes with us too, we need a prophet for us not to be doomed.

I say we definitely need prophets. We do have reason and we could be logical but how come we still cant live a righteous life? Maybe the reason for that is we lack guidance. And God is the same God yesterday, today, and forever. So if He sent prophets for the people before, its not impossible that He is going to send a prophet in our days too. Dont you think?

Jesus is not the last prophet because before He ascended to heaven and be with His father, he appointed his apostles to continue His work. They can be considered prophets too and others whom He called. But after Jesus died, some of the believers apostatized and rejected the word of God and killed the apostles of God. When the apostles died, there was nobody to continue what he started because the people killed those who have the authority to continue establishing His church. This resulted to the great apostasy or the time of the middle ages when people relied on priestcraft instead of the priesthood. This apostasy happened for a long time and God waited for the time when people would be ready to listen to His words again. God loves us to much that He doesnt want us to not to know of the truthfulness of His words that's why time came that He sent another prophet to restore the truth in the world today. The prophet He called at that time is no longer alive but he had some successors. The authority was passed on to the prophet called by God after one prophet dies. Revelation is continues and God could not afford that His children will not know His words so these will be no apostasy again.

I totally agree with you that we really have to start within and pray to God, ask sincerely about His prophets. There are a lot of people who are claiming to be prophets these days but they could be the false ones also a tactic by the adversary to confuse people. But one thing is for sure to know whether a person is a prophet or not, he should not be that kind of person who would put other religion down, and find faults with other religion just to prove to people that other religions are false ones. We will know if a man is a man of God, if we ask it of God. God will be the only one to give the answer to our prayers. He might have some instruments, but I believe He will answer our prayers in so many ways. If we have doubts about something we can James 1:5 it.

Revelations revealed by God to an individual, is a revelation applicable only for that person. How about the revelation that we need as mankind? Of course, there has to be something common about it. Let's say some example the situation that Noah had with the people during his day, let's say for example that I am Noah and I was told by God about a flood and I would tell people now that there's going to be a flood and we need to prepare, we need to move out and make a ship for us to be saved, do you think you're going to believe me? Or other people are going to believe me? Or if God revealed something like this to you are you going to tell people or just keep it to yourself?
There is a need for a prophet because the prophet knows the way. The only problem we have now is how to know if the person is really a prophet of God.

Matthew 16:25
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. "

Yes, i am willing to give up everything for my own salvation if the Lord requires it. That is what you call sacrifice and obedience to His will.

Also i do not depend on my own knowledge because i know my knowledge is nothing compared to God. I don't believe we will be saved by our knowledge too. I know we will be saved by the fruits of our knowledge. That is by applying things we know to be right and helpful to others.

Prov. 3: 5 "lean not unto thine own understanding"

We can always pray for it. God said if we lack wisdom then we pray to him and ask. It is sometimes frustrating to know that there would be a lot of false prophets in our days but I think God also has a purpose why this happens because we will not be able to exercise faith in God if it would be easy for us to find His servants. One thing is for sure though, a man of God will not try to put other religions down just to convert people that they are the true church. A man of God will always be humble and kind. Someone like Jesus, someone to is not fond of contentions. I hope one day you will find what you are looking for.

Amos 3:7 - we certainly need prophets.
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus does not change, he will still call prophets whenever or wherever he wants.

During in the old testament period, people were not forbidden to communicate with God face to face. Exodus 33:11, the Lord spake unto Moses face to face as a man speaketh unto his friend. (no need for a curtain)

Now you are trying to say that we can communicate with God face to face?Not anyone can do that. There has to be certain requirements..

Matthew 5:8 - "blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God."

What if God has a prophet today, will you still stand by your belief or by your own knowledge that they are false prophets? what if your wrong then?

In the scriptures we read, Matthew 7:20, "by their fruits ye shall know them."
I know we need a living prophet in our times today, God loves people in our time as well as people in times of old. If he called prophets in Old testament times, why not now?

The bible does not have all of God's words. If the bible was complete, I'll tell you, we will only have one religion, all the people will have one faith.

In the Old testament times, God did not call prophets only in one place, he can call prophets wherever he wants. Remember He is God of all the world, not just one place. Who knows, those prophets not mentioned in the Bible also wrote their scriptures as commanded by them of God. Will you not accept them because you stand by your belief the bible is complete?

i think that prophets are sign of God's love to us. Prophets are there to teach us that we need to follow God's commandments.

Every time the people of old gets so wicked God calls a prophet to remind them to be good again. That is one way of God showing his love.

If he does not call a prophet today, that means he doesn't love us anymore.
But since he does not change, he will always love us, that's why he will always have a prophet to remind us to be good and teach us of heavenly things.

i had read your comment and i respect your feelings but you are wrong here god does'nt send the prophet to indicate that god loves us.
the proof that god loves us the rising of sun, the rising of moon, we are getting food from land of our god continously on time. this is indication of god loves us.
in my religion god told us that i will protect the earth from all the destruction even only one man is remebering me. from this sentence you can get how much god loves us that they will protect complete earth from all danger even there is only one man who is remembering that god.
you are telling that god send prophet to showing us that god loves us. but no my friend god send their prophets to giving us the message that you all are created my me and you are on earth from doing my prayers and aslo for protecting the human kind from false thing in front of god.
god had sended total 1,24,000 messengers to give all the real knowledge and also teaching complete human kind the existance of real god and good manners.
when all the messenger teached them complete things our last prophet S.A.W.S. had told that now this is completion of islam and now there will be no messenger coming on earth to tell you this things and if anybody claim that he is the prohet then he is a fraud and it is your responsiblity(complete muslims) that you will protect all human kind from this fraud and you will send this message to complete human kind so as they will be on right path.
