Descendants of Hitler, 40 men have vowed not to have children  

I don't think that it is fair for the family to punish itsself for Hitler's crimes. Osama Bin Laden had many many children, and one of those children (his 4th son Omar with his first wife Najwa) wrote a book. Omar and Najwa, along with author Jean Sasson wrote the Bin Laden Memoirs ("Growing Up Bin Laden"). Those two and others in his family turned out just fine. So if there can be nice people in the Bin Laden family, there can be nice people in Hitler's family.

Bloodline has nothing to do with their ancestor's wrong doing, and is unfair for them pay for the crimes of their fathers.

Is your actions that define who you are, a child from a prestigious family can still commit petty crimes. Hitler had his end, and his crimes been judged. His relatives who had nothing to do with the war, should have the right to live in peace.

Is a common stereotype for us to associate a name with an entire family, and a bad name can ruin everyone's image. We are at a time now when understanding and forgiveness should replace hatred and mistrust, and we see the person as who they are, no what they are been called.

I don't see the Royal Japaness family appologize for their ancestor's crimes, and they certainly enjoying having children, so why should Hitler's relatives pay such price? When they are not even his own offspring.

Hitler certainly have significant mental health problems. It is hard to say if they are inherited or not.
I guess his siblings feared so much the consequences of what hitler had done, they never wanted to take the risk of having children themselves.
Even if Hitlers medical condition was inherited, proper diagnosis and treatment nowadays does help some sufferers lead normal lives.

Even when i have to talk about this man, if i can call it so; descendants have no fault , of course, but if they concluded that this name must be erased from history, it's their decision; Maybe if they took this decision, they have some problems, no one can know, there may exist a hereditary mental illness, is difficult as 40 people take the same decision do not have children be over family lineage, no one can know, it's just their decision.

Well, I don't really want to judge someone based on who their relatives are. I mean, they don't have anything to do with Hitler, and I'm sure they never asked to be his relative whatsoever. So I think it's not really fair to be afraid of them. Or to condemn them because somebody in their family has done something bad..

I can see why they would be worried considering what a monster Hitler was but that doesn't mean that their own families would be that way. Whatever caused Hitler to turn out the way he did, that was on him. I think his family is over reacting to their family history. I could see if them thinking that way if they themselves had turned out crazy like Hitler but the fact that they are normal ppl show that it isn't hereditary. Perhaps they just don't want their possible families to have to live with the stigma of who they were descended from. I'd suggest they move on and let the past go.

Hitler found a nitch and filled it. He had 26 million people behind him. The population of Germany had just lost the first world war and were discouraged and looked down upon. Hitler came along at exactly the right time and in the right place. He was a hero of the people, a man with the dream, the people needed very badly. Germany was in a depression, and suffering from the ravages of war.There was no help in sight until Hitler seized the reigns of Government. People felt he could do no wrong, and were so sure of this they allowed him to murder millions (while the rest of the world looked on and did nothing.) Hitler was just one man, in a country of 26 million. Its very interesting that he gets all the blame, while his countrymen, and the world get away with Murder! (even the Pope - the Roman Catholic Church, said nothing, and did nothing, to stop the slaughter of the Jewish People)

I am sorry to be rude but this is stupid. Should we shun the family of every person who does wrong even if those family members are innocent? I had family on both sides of WWII and I feel no reason, nor do they to hold grudges of men long dead or old. If the family chooses to do this that of coarse is their prerogative but I think it is unneeded.

There are a number of children of ex-SS officers and who have converted to Judaism and have been well received in the Orthodox Jewish community.

We see that many "good" parents have bad children and many "bad" parents have good children.

If these people have evidence that they suffer from genetically transmitted mental illness then they are right not to procreate, but I doubt it because they are showing a real sensitivity and a sense of responsibility. They seem to be the type of person that will bring up sensitive and caring children.

I think they must be doing this out of shame for their family name and what Hitler did to butcher it. It's somewhat sad that they are going to do this, but who's to say that their aren't any of Hitler's descendants around that don't even know it? Like the article you suggested to another user hinted at, there could be other hitler's or descendants of the hitler name out there that don't even know it.

There are new ways to deal with mental illnesses, and to stop the lineage because of mental illness is a shame.
