Do you think learning french language is easy or difficult |
| |
| I have recently moved to france and I am learning french language here. I am facing very much difficulty in learning french. The teachers are great, they are awesome and so is my university in france. But I don't know why I am not unable to pick up the basic french. I am struggling badly with the french language. So do you think french is easy to learn especially compare with english. I think english is much easier to learn they french. Its my personal views. The french is very interesting language though, no doubt about it. Today, I have oral exam of french speaking, I hope I can perform better. I had french listening exam last week and i totally suck in it. I am so bad in listening. I really hope I can do better. Let me know what you think about french language? | | | | | |

| | I'm an American so learning French to me made much more sense than learning English did as a child. French has rules such as the male and female tenses while english doesn't have a pattern that one can use to learn it. We also have far more slang than most countries from what I have been told. I think it takes time to learn any new language but the more you use it the better. Instead of only trying to learn French in the classroom, try talking in French to yourself. If you go to answer the phone, think to yourself how do I say the telephone is ringing? That might help you get it bit by bit. You will start to think in French and then you are truly on your way!! Good luck to you and good for you being in a foreign country at university!! | | | | | | |

| | Thanks for you're comments. Its interest you are american and learning french. I mean in america English is enough. You don't have to learn another language. But its good to learn other language also especially french. Like I know My mother tongue Urdu then I know English as well. Now I am learning french. I believe english pattern is easy to learn because it's more simple and french it kinda difficult. My personal views is the english is better. I mean its simple and cool language. That's my personal view. I think, I am saying because I am not good in french. Thanks for you're advice. I will try to work on you're advice and see through it. | | | |

| | The genders thing is very hard from me. Because there is not set rule about genders differences. So, we have to learnt it with practice and talking etc. While, I am not doing any real practice of anything so I am real problem with french so far ;-( I also learnt chinese in my university for two semesters. Chinese writing is very tough though. Some how, the grammar thing was easy. Overall, I am not a big fan of learning languages so that's why I struggling when it comes to languages. For me, learning french would take 5 to 7 years. Or may be more. I'm very dull in language department. My english is not good, my urdu ( my mother tongue) is just ok. So overall, my language skills are very weak. | | | |

| | I've been told that although the French language has a LOT of rules (making it difficult), almost none of the rules have exceptions. This make is almost mechanical to learn. So if you learn the rules, you can apply them any time and they would work. Unlike English that has so many exceptions (for example, in a word that has the letters i and e together, the i will come before the e, EXCEPT if they come after the letter c). So it seems that learning the rules of French is difficult, but the language itself is easy :) | | | | | | |

| | You're absolutely right, Amorlife1 ! but I after learning the easier language which is English, french seem to be hard for me. At least I know I am not good with languages so I am currently struggling. If I can just speak french, able to communicate with french people, my objective is complete. In English, I am so not good, but I can do the basic communication with all you people, that's enough for me. Just I want to speak french, that's it ( plus understand also). | | | |

| | After learning English, french is difficult for me. The english grammar is very easy ( that's what I think so ) but with french I am struggling. Things are complicated for me with french. I have no idea about italian, but thanks for telling me about italian language. I wish, I was good with languages. Currently, my biggest issue is the pronunciation of french. I want to improve it | | | |

| | Yes yes, I agree. Now, it's very difficult for me to learn a new language, was I am not a kid anymore. I don't even know how I learnt my even mother language so easily without studying it ( my mother language is URDU ). English is my second language. If I were born in france, than french would be piece of cake, but now it's very difficult for me to learn it. | | | |

| | Uh La La. I have actually never tried to learn and in fact only know a couple of phrases in French and one of them is dirty. But the couple of phrazed I do know don't seem so difficult each sylable is easy to understand and remember. I certainly think that is is a beautiful language. I think that it is probably much easier then Chinese, Japanese, or Korean where you actually have to deal with an entirely different alphabet. Best of luck to you and picking the language. I am sure with time you will e speaking it beautifully. | | | | | | |

| | I am not sure about it. I've spend 5 months in france yet I think I am the worst french speaker in france. My french really sucks. especially my listening skill, mostly i can't understand what other person is saying to me. So, for now I am struggling badly with french, and I have no sun rise of HOPE that I will improve my french. | | | |
