If you want to build a house you choose mountain or sea?  

Hi Icesmile. Although I love both the environs or mountain or sea, I wouldn't choose either to build a house. The mountains because of possible avalanche or landslides...the sea for possible flooding or landslide. I'm a bit more practical. I've always dreamed of having a house in the middle of a forest with either a bubbling brook or stream, or a lake or large pond. As long as there's some sort of water on the property. I love the forest, not only for the birds chirping but also for the vast array of animals and foliage. Hopefully I'd get lucky enough to find some natural food sources...some sort fruit or nuts. I'd love to be surrounded by acorn or maple trees simply because their leaves are so awesome. My house would be a simple 3 bedroom log cabin with a huge fireplace in the middle of the living area. A family-friendly kitchen. At least 2 baths. I might even put in an outhouse for kicks (when I was younger we had one on some property at one time). I'd love to be able to fish, canoe and possible swim in the water. Ah to dream. Perchance.....lol. Great to think about!

Although I truly love the safety and peace of the trees in the forest, I would have to say I would love to wake to the sound of the waves..it is in my soul to do so Ice..why my name is Ocean.

Having always lived by the sea, I can't imagine being without it. I'd love to visit mountains; Florida is totally flat. Still, I don't know if I could survive without the sound of the surf, at least now and then!

I've built my dream house and it sits up against a desert mountain. I've lived by the ocean and loved it, but the desert SW with its 365 days of sunshine won out.

Mountain. I saw 2012. I don't know about the expected time frame, but i do get the flooding and monster waves,etc..

I remember when I was about to graduate to college. I was actually dreaming to renovate this house of ours. Our house is located in the mountain but it is just a small one and you could actually see great places and wonderful views from our place.

And I drawn a renovated version of our house. Well, it's not a nice one actually since I don't have a talent of drawing.

Anyway, it's a nice way that I could view this house like a not so big house but then me and my whole family could accommodate. Right now, that my siblings are growing old already and we have only two rooms here in our house...that's why it's hard for my parents to stay in our family room bed...that's why they are sleeping in our living area...

So,I always wish I would have this renovated....and just enjoy the great fresh air that we have hear in our place.

Both places invite risks. With all the tsunami news we hear and soil erosion I wouldn't want to take the risk. I rather build my house on lowlands.

If there is such a chance, I would like to build my house nearby the sea. First, the traffic shall be much more convenient nearby the sea than in the mountain. Second, I like the sea more than the mountain. It is just so relaxing to see the sea and play in the beach.

Hi, if I had a choice, I would build two smaller house, one on the seashore, where i can live in summer, make beach, to swim all summer, and the other house I would build a mountain, in a forest where to live winter to see snow on mountains, to ski, to skate, make fire in a large home, nostrils to feel the cold air in the morning you go out. can be heaven in both places, depend only of seasons.

Oooh, this is a tough question! I would want both! But I suppose if it was to live in year round, I would choose a house by the sea, so as to avoid wintery troubles driving in the mountains. I love the ocean and beach communities, the culture is always so relaxed and people are much nicer to each other by the sea! The mountains, though, are an amazing place to escape and reflect, and I think that mountain towns have a great community culture too.
