Basking in the sun.  

its 80 here in sunny ca today but alas as I live in this
retirement center I cannot even plant a few things. as I have a big western window and the room is well lighted with natural light i
am thinking of growing some african violets just for something
pretty and green. happy gardening Grandpa Bob

Over 70 in Minnesota in March, who'da thunk it?

hi grandpa bob, we only have narrow window ledges and no south facing windows. but I do have a greenhouse and a cold frame where at the moment i am growing tomatoes, - sungold and yellow tumbler, i am also growing peas and french beans. i am a bit pushed for time at the weekends, and i ordered masses of new shrubs for our home garden and some for our holiday hideaway at the coast. but i will be growing squashes, , mixed lettuce leaves , radishes , carrots and beetroot. the rhubarb is showing its curly head already. and everything is budding and growing. i can hardly wait for spring to really start!!

My bedroom window, the sun porch, and the kitchen are the only windows in the house that get really good sunlight coming in them. I don't have any seedlings planted that need a bunch of sun, but my kids were basking in the sunshine today. My son really needs the sun. He got so pale over the winter.

They really are growing quite fast, no I don't do growing as my garden so so small and we don't get enough sun where my garden is.

You must be having the same weather we are. It was up to 70 here today, too... but we're expecting snow by Friday. I set some of my seedlings out on the front step for about a half hour, it was so nice.

I have south windows but with narrow ledges. Earlier in the year, there was quite a bit of sun coming through them, but the house next door blocks it now, as it goes higher in the sky. I put them in the west windows and need to get out my grow light, too. So far, so good, though. I have tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, onions from seed, meadow sweet and lemon balm so far. I usually start the squash, cucumbers and so on, outside. I am going to plant the peas outside as soon as we get over this next bad spell.

I have some southern windows, but have not planted seeds yet. You guys are warmer than we are. Tomorrow we are Supposed to be mid sixties, then possibly snow Friday night. It is Kansas, after all.

you lucky devil you, 70 degrees. i am jealous, the weather here in london today has been nice and its been freezing since before this week for ages. its only started getting nice this week but chilly though. i have one plant and his name is peter.

I live in the midwest as well, and it is beautiful here! I love this new spring weather! So refreshing!

I just last year got my own place and this spring I plan on planted some flowers along the side of my house and in the front...but I have a lot of tree's. There won't be much sunlight hitting them...any idea's on some flower's that I could plant that are colorful and can grow in the shade?
