I Don't Know About You But I Think This Is Rather Cruel: The Pet Washer |
| |
| I heard this story on the very late news last night. It's a product called The Pet Washer and was "invented" in Japan and for awhile only used there, but some are even found in America now. It almost looks like a gigantic microwave and a dog or cat is placed in it, and one pushes a few buttons to start the wash cycle, it also can dry the pet as well. Now some might think this is a great invention and idea but there's already been some controversy about it as some think it smacks as downright cruelty, especially if one sees a video of a cat being "washed" this way. Would you ever think of using such a device to wash your pet? Would you subjugate your beloved pet to this knowing it might freak your pet out or would you just stick to the good old fashioned means of washing your pet? Here's an article about it http://www.newsandstar.co... Here's the video of the cat being washed. The poor thing is panic stricken http://www.youtube.com/wa... | | | | | |

| | I don't like the idea of it either. All I can think is that at some point there will be a malfunction and a huge recall of these machines. I don't trust that a robot will be in any way gentle in bathing a pet! When did we get so lazy? | | | | | | |

| | Yeah the way that water is coming down on the dog (and cat) looks more like a torrential downpour of water and a pet could maybe even drown with so much water coming at full blast like that | | | |

| | I didn't see that comment...but then you have a lot of stupid remarks posted under a lot of videos at Youtube. At least most do agree that the cat was scared and thought that washer is cruel | | | |

| | I pity that cat... The moment water started coming out, the cat got scared. And when water was coming out everywhere... I wish I was there so I can turn that awful machine off! | | | |

| | I saw this on tv and think its an awful way to wash the dog. It would make them scared and give them a fear of getting washed. I like the old fashioned way to wash the dog at least you can calm them and talk to them while they are getting washed. They would also get a bit of a massage too. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think this is funny at all. To me this is downright cruel. I would never allow any of my animals to go through that. Watching that poor cat was breaking my heart. The poor thing was so scared. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for doing that to the poor thing. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think it's funny either and I feel so sorry for that cat. At least when you bathe a pet by hand you can talk to them, hold them, soothe them...but to put a pet into one of those things really is downright cruel in my mind | | | |

| | I wouldn't either. They should definitely take it off the market. Sooner or later some serious accident could occur and only then would they recall it | | | |

| | I'm sorry to hear about Ashley..what kind of skin disease was it? The only reason I ask is that there's been a lot of news lately about commercial flea and tick products that are causing all kinds of serious health issues to pets..so was the skin problem your Ashley perhaps related--did you use any of those products? | | | |

| | LOL--no problems jcj_111776---Actually when you think of it maybe it was for the best that your Ashley did die the day before being put down. It's never an easy choice to put a beloved "baby" down...I've had to do that myself in the past and it's such a hard decision to make, so when a pet dies naturally maybe for the best?? | | | |

| | I saw this on our news yesterday and was absolutely amazed that anyone would be so stupid as to think that this would be a great idea. No way would I ever want to put any animal into something as awful as that, for heavens sake. | | | | | | |

| | I wonder who the idiot was who thought up this Pet Washer in the first place. Are people so lazy they don't want to bathe a pet the old fashioned way? If that's the case they don't deserve to have a pet in the first place | | | |

| | This thing is crazy and looks like an accident waiting to happen. What happens if it malfunctions and the water comes out scorching hot...I saw the emergancy stop button but that can malfunction as well. The dog didn't seem to mind it too much but the poor cat seemed hysterical. Cats are generally not bathed. They are more of a self cleaning animal. I think it's simply a way for lazy ppl to get out of having to bathe their animal. I would never use one. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS** | | | | | | |
