| I have a question for everyone who works outside the home. This question is mainly for the US employees. Isn't it against the law to be fired if you have a doctors note, and or used against your personal record? My daughter had a kidney stone problem and was in the emergency room Saturday morning from 2:30am to almost 7am. She was suppose to go to work that day but the doctor gave her a note to stay home for at least two days. She was off on Sunday and Monday Thank God. She went back to work today still in pain because there are more kidney stones on the left side. She gave her boss all the paperwork and the doctors note to show her it was all legit. She says ok but one more occurence and you will be dismissed. Can you believe a company like JC Penney's would treat their employees so bad. If you accidently sign out one minute earlier then you are suppose to, its considered early dismal which is used against you. Well JC Penney's hasn't fired my daughter yet but they have definitely lost me as a customer. | | | | | |

| | you can sue the company if your daughter gets dismissed. it should be waived or excused if its because of medical reason, since its not the employee's fault. File a complaint with the labor department if that happens. Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | Hi lelin! I have worked outside the home and in a call center, as a matter of fact. I haven't worked in several years and I hope you don't mind me saying anything but I don't think this is right. No, I can't believe a company like Penney's would do this, either, and I've always liked their merchandise. I shop from them whenever I need pantyhose. Anyway, getting back to your daughter's problem, they need to be more considerate of the employee's feelings. What if the boss is sick? | | Hi, Lelin. Most of the company right now really try to "save" as much as you can. They can change their policy anytime they want. Like the department store also doing that clocking out earlier as a tardiness. These days clocking in and out no longer do that card punching. We have to do it through their computer networking. And it need employee ID and password to do it. Everything seem have to be "on time" computer just calculate you as tardy if you not coming in or clocking out earlier. | | | | | | |

They said according to the system I have more than 7 tardiness. Well, I told them that i have to pick my kids in the daycare. I scheduled until 6pm, and the day care closed at the same time, and I need 15 minutes window to drive over there so I don't get late fee per kids. | | | |

| | in some states its NOT against the law and we learned the hard way! hubby got hurt on the job at walgreens and when he came back after his surgery and etc they treated him horrible because he got a settlement (we really only were fighting for medical benefits in case he needed further surgery on his neck) but they would ask him to do stuff he couldnt do anymore due to the neck injury and then threatening his job for not doing it.. they even tried to pin him as a theif and on drugs! both not true.. TN is a no-fault state meaning if your boss has a bad day he can fire you just for the hell of it! no reason, no excuses etc.. but i dont know what other states are no fault so google "no fault states" and see.. there might be a way of getting around it medically but i dont think so.. hopefully you arent and you can | | | | | | |

| | That's a horrible way to treat an employee and I intend to stop doing business with J C Penney, too. Might even shoot them an email letting them know why, too. I live in Florida, which is a Right to Work state. That means that you can be terminated for any...or no reason. I don't know what the labor laws are in your state but you might want to check them out just incase. | | | | | | |

What they want are robots who don't get sick and robots who will do everything without any feelings, without getting hurt or what. I think it is what many companies lack today. They lace compassion for their employees. They like to think that their workers are not humans. That is why I never want to work for any of these companies. It is a shame. having worked in a call center environment for most of my career, either on the phone or as an assistant supervisor I can tell you, that call centers have high turnover rates.
