My dogs are sooo very happy since I had a fence put up today. Now they can run and jump and play. No more leashes unless we want to go on a walk. Do you have a fenced yard? Is it an invisible fence? I have an aluminum fence up.

Thankfully I have a big backyard surrounded by a 4 to 6 foot wall. So my Cody can run around and I don't have to worry about him getting out of the yard. I also have about a 9 foot raw iron fence on the side of the house but that is always closed and he can't squeeze through at all.

That is awesome - I bet Cody is very happy!

My back yard is fenced with a 6 foot privacy fence, but that doesn't always keep my dog in. Just yesterday I had to chase him down because he had dug a whole and escaped. Last year, having owned him for 5 years, I had to pay the pound to get him back after one of his escapes. It was over $100, even though he was my dog to begin with!

That is a crime!!! It was your own dog!! Ugh makes me mad

Paying the pound to get your animals back is common practice both here in the U.S and in Canada and not a crime at all..seemingly unfair of course but you have to understand that they have to not only retreive the dogs that are loose but also house and feed them etc...it costs money...

My pup was very happy when we moved into our house. She now has a fenced in backyard. I liked the house from the first time I saw it, with one exception, it actually doesn't have a door into the backyard. It is an older house, has a door off the kitchen into the carport, have to step around the corner to the yard. But within just a couple of days she learned to go from the kitchen door to her yard. When she wants to come in, I open her gate and she goes straight to the door. It is a chainlink fence, I wish it were a little bit bigger yard, but it is good for her, she's not a real big dog.

Sounds like you have trained her very well! Mine, however, would bolt any chance they get to run the neighborhood. LOL

My dogs LOVE being able to just run around the yard..We have an invisible fence for them that gives them about a 1/2 acre of running area so they are thrilled....I'd like to put up a nice wooden fence but the size of our lawn area would be far too expensive to do..That would be for our privacy though not for the dogs since the invisible fence works just fine..

I was tempted to use an invisible fence but we have some dogs that roam on their own and I know they would come over to torment mine and then mine would try to chase them and get zapped - lol.

I am jealous - a half acre! When I lived in New York I had a half acre and I really miss that. My dogs would absolutely love that. Thanks for posting.

Nice! and Congratulations for a job well done.
I am so happy to read this discussion.
We have an old fence that I just happened to of resurrected yesterday by clearing some brush and pulling it back up. It had been there for years.
That is only along the top of the yard. We still have the side, along the driveway to the road and the other side which is adjacent to the neighbors.
We must get a fence in as well. I would use an aluminum fence such as yourself.
Was the cost much?
I am unsure about an invisible fence. Somehow I would feel better with an actual fence that I can see, so to feel more confident that my dog will be safe, inside the fencing.
Since she is so small, she is never out of my sight when we go outside into the yard but a fence would be handy, just in case she sees something outside the perimiter that she decides to chase.
Well Good For you! Now you can rest easier when your dogs are outside in the yeard. Yippie!

In my community we can only have the black aluminum fencing - we have no other options - and it is more expensive than other types. At least it looks very nice. I had to save up for a year to get it! I only got 38 feet of fencing for 1315 dollars.

At least, you are right, my doggies are very happy!

Wow. I bet it does look nice. We do not have any restrictions but I feel that an aluminum fence is the way to go. I wouldn't want my little dog to get out, ever!
I love a happy dog. Good for you.
