When times are tough, what brings you great comfort or consoles you?  

Fine, but what do you do to get comfort from God?
Pray, Meditate, read a Book of God? Just have Fait that things will work out?
What do you say to people who are in pain? My Mother was dying of cancer. That's a lot more than disappointment and frustration. So what do you say or do to console someone who is in pain?

for it is only He who can save you from the perils of disappointment or frustration.

thats great that it works for you BUT thats not the case for everyone by any means..which means "he" is NOT the only one or thing that can help someone who is having a rough go..for some of us a "he/she" doesnt even come into play

Well I did ask what comforts or consoles each person. For this person that does. I'm not going to judge whether that works for all of us or not. If that is this person's way, then fine. But I think even someone who believes similar would need more advice or examples. Therefore, I requested more specifics to help people who believe similar to him. Or maybe there is some way that s/he puts his/her beliefs into action for consoling that this person never thought about and others could learn from.

I could vouchsafe for how God has acted as a softener to trivial problems. I have always felt Him as the unseen guiding force behind most of my deeds.However I would not wish Him standing by my side most of the times and alleviate all the pains and shower pleasure in abundance. He is rather a friend ,philosopher and guide...yet unseen.

I feel very similar in this.

I have a friend, with money, who added a sun room to the end of her home and wow, is that wonderful! When I go there in the wintertime, that feels so great! Exp. on my old arthritic bones. Very physically comforting! It costs her more money when the sun isn't out, but when the sun is out, is it great!

I love it when I go canoeing with a friend of mine in another month or two. I run around on rocks that are smooth and warm underneath my feet. I feel so strong, soothed, refreshed, and ready to come back to this world, but oh how I wish I could stay in that one.

I would LOVE to have a four season sunroom..in fact my hubby and I have talked about adding one to the house when we start renovating again...I suffer from arthritis too and the cold months are just painful so I'm pretty much trapped in the house during that time..A 4 season sunroom would be just wonderful! I use to love running but can't due to various health issues but I love bike riding in the warm months and living in the country its just beautiful around here to do just that!

Well, "run around" was more a figure of speech. I'm 52 years old, I really don't run anywhere.

I love living in the country, too. Due to my knees, I need a recombant bike. Regular ones stress my knees.

I find the variety I've gotten so far very fascinating.

Music helps me with some things, mostly to overcome seasonal lack of motivation or to inspire me to dance or exercise, and now to clean.

But more and more, I find I like and need other things, too. I think it's my age showing, ha, ha.

Yes, her response does sound good for some. It actually sounds like what my husband prefers. But I guess I have wayyyy tooo much energy for that, it's drive me crazy...Like I said above, my son would be embarrassed because when the music gets going, I get to jumping, literally..(Ever see the teenagers jumping at a concert? that's me at 48 or whatever my age is...lol)

OOOO,I doubt it very much. I like my friend, because she is the only one to keep in touch since I left the church, but according to this church, dancing is not permitted unless the Holy Spirit says it is ok. If that is the case, then He is telling me it's ok all the time...lol

Have you ever seen the black version of Cinderella? "Cindy" was the name. Actually, there was more than one. In the one I'm talking about,She went from a singing, dancing, joyful church to a very proper, quiet one. She broke out in song and dance, they all had a fit. I thought she was making a "joyful noise" and should "go for it," and she was until they dragged her out side and punished her for it. Some churches have no sense of humor!

You know, I have not seen it, but it sounds like something I'd like...Though I am to shy to break out in dance when it isn't welcomed, when it is accepted, look out..I once had a pastor who knew to stay away from em once I started dancing..lol Then they turned on me saying I needed to read the bible more... I knew I needed to, but when I did start reading, they still condemned me and the only girl who was left on my dance team other than my daughter, was no longer allowed to dance..What does that say to you?

Condemn you? My dear, you sweet person, you should have read their Bible to them. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father to judge the living and the dead, not them. During the men going to stone a woman, he who is without sin cast the first stone. They dropped their stones and left. What no one is here to condemn you, then I don't condemn you either. My goodness, I could go on and on and on. So-called religious people who condemn are only in religion to make themselves look better by putting other people down. Jesus had many stories for them. Like the ones now, it went right over the heads.. Except for a few who got really angry. They got it. But I love the one about the guy who was either a different religion or not very religious who helped a guy who had been beaten, robbed, and left in a ditch. The so-called religious people just walked right by because they only were religious in the Synogogues or only on the Sabbath. But this guy that many would consider a not-so-religious or the-right-religious, helped the man get back to health. The woman at the well. On and on. They have no right to condemn you, ever. The only commandment after Jesus was LOVE one another. Being mean to you is not LOVE. Period! You have more love in your pinky then they have in their entire bodies.

The story you are talking about is the Good Samaritan, but my favorite is the woman they wanted to stone.. Sometimes I feel if I was in that time, I'd have many people wanting to stone me...

There are many ideas on this discussion. Most I've done because I find I really need a variety. I really like meditation cds before bed so I can calm down and go to sleep.

I went through a stage of constant stress, pain and constant eating. I went from 130 lbs to 180 lbs. I used to be slim and a "lean, mean, fighting machine," now I'm blob woman. I'd like to go back to lean, mean and at least a gardening, walking, and laughing machine.

I feel exactly the same way. Having severe depression and anxiety doesn't help either.

I'm one of these people that believes for most problems, there is a solution, we just have to find it.

Oh, usually I believe that too for the most part. In my case there isn't a medication I can take that helps that much. I am too sensitive to the side effects and by the time the doctors get me up to a mg. that would normally help I have to stop taking it. I have tried them all. And the natural rememdies are too expensive for me to use for long.

Sometimes with natural remedies, you can grow the components.

I think you should have your sugar checked with a glucose tolerance test. Sugar going up and down can raise havoc with a person's moods and it can also be why no medication works.

Sometimes you can gather the all ingredients, if not grow them.

Sometimes you can't grow or gather them, but sometimes you can. Take care.

I will give the glocose tolerance test some thought. Gathering herbs I have done. I may look into that as well when I feel up to it.

20 years would put me at 72, if I lived that long. Right now, I'm going through menopause, so trying to unclutter my mind from the tangle of emotions is a challenge every day.

My emergency prayers are a little like that. Let's just say they overlap in some ways. I believe each person has a gift for helping themselves and others. Some of us have been well-gifted with the ability to pray. Some people can't even concentrate long enough to do that or have doubts or are afraid or feel they aren't worthy. Then there are those of us who concentrate and are very strong in our ability to pray. Some people have been given other gifts. I'm glad you have a powerful ability to pray. Maybe someone will read this, try, and find out they are very talented when it comes to prayer, too. Thanks and take care.

Yes, it's amazing how something that seems bad might be something good in disguise. When I couldn't find any job and had to work in a prison. I thought it was the end of the world. But now I can retire at 55 and other people can't. I was vested in 10 years and some people aren't.

Those all sound great! But alas, I have no grandchildren. Maybe my friend will let me borrow a few some day!
