BALANCING THE BUDGET......Do you canvass before you conclude to buy?

I definitely do canvass first, before buying. Especially if I'm buying an expensive thing, like gadgets or appliances, I make sure to canvass and compare prices first before making a decision. I wouldn't mind scouring around places and stores, I have my mission to find that "best buy" in a reasonable price. I don't like the feeling of buying something impulsively, then finding out later, the same item could be bought in a much lower price in another store. That's the worst regret of a shopper.

I always make sure I canvass before I buy. It has been a habit of mine ever since then. I could remember way back in my college times when I want to buy something it takes me at most 2weeks before deciding to buy something or not.

But sometimes, when the amount isn't that huge, I tend to just buy on the spot. But if we're referring to laptops, camera, pc, and all those gadgets and stuff that involve a big amount of money, I tend to sleep on it.

I also try to canvass through phone before going to a store just to see if it's available to them and how much it costs. But cost isn't the only thing I watch out for, I try to see the specifications, the benefits, the ease of talking to customer service (should I need them in the future) the probability of the thing becoming obsolete, and finally canvassing for other alternatives (which is usually cheaper with the same functions one would need).

I could therefore say I'm quite a careful buyer. But still I have a weakness, if it's kitchen wares, I always wear my brain on my sleeve. hehehee...

Canvassing has become more of a hobby to me so I dont' really mind canvassing and going through different stores to compare prices. Sometimes I even find a better design or a different version of the item which I like even better, so I get a better deal because of the "hard work" lol.

I am not a smart consumer as I always end up buying highly marked up goods. When I want to buy something I don't have the patience to window shop first to compare prices. I will just grab the item and go. Maybe time to discard this bad habit so won't end up being a victim of greedy businessmen.

Hi Miss Cloud!!I always doing like this, especially when I am going to purchase a big amount. Better canvass even this is the hard part and you will get tired asking many store, but at atleast we can save some of our budget if we find low price from canvassing. yes i do. but i also make sure i don't buy the cheapest stuff because sometimes you compromise on quality and nutritional budget.

also when it comes to bonus points/reward points, if the person ahead or after me doesn't have a card, i smile and ask 'can i have your points?' and most of the time, they agree!

but when it comes to my bath soap, my lotion and deodorant, i buy what i like. it's my way of treating myself for my hard work.

It all depends on what the product is for us. If we've got a pretty good idea of what the price should be, or what a good deal is we go for it. We consider the location, could we go a little further out and get it, and would it be worth it? Those are the things we think about when purchasing anything.

My husband and I are purchasing a car for a very good price, we have to drive out of town to get it, but with a car it's definitely worth it.

Yes I usually do canvassing for a wise spender we need to know how exactly the real and reasonable price for each item.We need to analyze hows the budget going when purchasing a product.

It depends on the final price...if it's a big ticket item, then yes-I comparatively price it. I think it's wise to save whatever you can and unless you're strapped for time and need it now-then it might be better to save some cash.
Some people do this with groceries-but I don't have the time to shop around to save...I just go one place and get 'er done. I am not a big fan of shopping-plus I have to drive 30 minutes to get there-so in some cases I actually save by not spending the gas.
