the week.I had too many things to sort out in the school holidays so i made my mind up to treat the children to an evening out on rides. At the start of the week my daughter was told she needed an op on her nose as it was fractured, then i had to see a dr as pain in my feet was really bad, then just to top it my daughter that will be 18 on Friday tells me she can not wear gold and i had to send what i had got her back and it do not come in silver. The children had a good night even if i got to stay in as i am still in pain.It was great to know they could let their hair down.

That is very sweet of you! I am sure that your children appreciated your generosity! This shows that you are indeed a true mother that loves, cares and adores her children.
Even though, you are feeling too well, you still found the time to treat your children. If you was my mom, I would be very thankful and I would try to help you out in any way that I can.

She can't wear gold? Would you like me to have a talk with her about appreciating her parent?
Nah, she sounds like I probably was when I was eighteen. It just makes me a little sad that you had to send it back and they didn't have the alternative. I'm glad they got to have some fun. And I certainly hope your pain gets better.

i'm at my happiest when i'm treating the kids, because when i was young we were pretty poor and my mum couldn't afford to do much with us,so i want them to have what i didn't

I'm so sorry to hear about all the hardship that you've had in the last week. That is awful to hear about your daughter's nose. Ouch, ouch, ouch. And then you having to deal with pain in your feet as well. That isn't any fun to deal with either. However, you really are a wonderful mother in that you were able to arrange for your children to have a time where they could enjoy themselves. This shows to me that you are the kind of mother that any child should wish to have.

I never heard of anyone who cannot wear gold, unless you mean a color rather than the precious metal. Whatever is it with her and gold? If she gets a skin rash from it, then that is probably from the nickel they put in the gold and for that jewelers have a coating they can put on so that people who are allergic can still wear the beautiful jewelry, if that is what you bought her.
Here is a neat article on the subject:

Oh I would have done the same after hearing all the negative stuff first thing of the week. When it rains it certainly pours, don't you think? and worst, most of it you can't do anything about.
One of the worst weeks I've ever been to happened last week. I got fired from my job (well not really fired, more of given a break), everyone wasn't feeling well or wasn't in the mood on my birthday. Financial problems came, bills came running. The boyfriend even forgot my birthday and he was out of the country for it. Oh, to tell you frankly, I wouldn't want to have another birthday again if that is what I'll be receiving every single year.
But, what can we do about it? We cannot just quit on life, we need to move forward and on with it. And surprisingly, after a week of bad things, I'm not feeling so bad now.
I just stayed put - coz I couldn't afford to have fun. Didn't think much of it, and just did my best to earn from other sources for now. So far, so good.
And oh, by the way, another story of such an incident was from my brother when he, together with friends took their Medical Technology Boards. The exam was all too difficult that they decided to scream it out at the rides. Literally took every frightening ride they could find in that fun place. Enough to be too tired to think and just go to bed in the end.

Wow...such wonderful fun and pain, i'll say it's like mixed feelings for you now and you'll be very happy it could end up like this, but children are so funny and choosey, i don't understand why your 18 year old would not appreciate what you got her because that was her mother wanted for her or it's this right's issues again where children can impose things and views on their parents...you know best but down here you can't try that as what was given to you could be taken back and returned then you get to forfeit everything.
