http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1276921/Pagan-police-win-right-time-festivals.html This is good news and brings it in line with various other faiths who can claim time off for their holy days. However the comment "What has it come to when a cop gets time off so he can sit about making spells or DANCE AROUND THE PLACE DRINKING HONEY BEER WITH A WAND IN HIS HAND?" cracked me up totally.

Does that mean the pagan police have to work on the Christian holidays?

I'd have thought that was obvious, you get your own holy days not other people's.

Someone has to work on Christmas in the Police Department. It makes more sense to let as many Christians off as they can and let the Pagans have their days off. Criminals don't take a holiday. It would be nice if they did. But in our area, domestic violence is up on the holidays. You can't let the entire police force off for Christmas and have no one to handle robberies, break-ins, and women/children being battered. Bestboy 19, maybe if you read my response, you'll understand better. Different holidays for different faiths makes sense for hospitals, correctional facilities, anywhere that can not close. It does make it hard to find babysitters for Christmas if your kids don't have grandparents, so their are some problems. But those problems have always existed.

I wonder why this is tagged mature content? on subject, yes, this is good. I think though it may be open to a bit of abuse, as there are so many festivals. if someone was really cheeky they could try and get the best part of a full months worth of days off in a year. there's Solar festivals, Agricultural festivals, and at least two lunar festivals a month. the vast majority of these can easily be celebrated around a working day, but it's nice that people will have the opportunity to have more flexibility, say with the Solstices, where many people celebrate by getting up early and watching the sunrise. or in winter, a lot of people are in work by the time the Sun shows up. this is good. I just hope no one abuses it.

I guess if they say they will grant the equal number of days off that Christians get, then it wouldn't be abused. Many Christians want every Sunday off. That's 52 days a year right there. Then Christmas, that's 53 and Easter 54. Some places allow Good Friday off, that's 55. Since it's a police department, I'm sure they rotate their Sundays on and off. It would be interesting to see how they did it. 24 hour schedules are a bear to begin with. I don't envy them figuring this out.

I am so glad to see that people in some areas are lightning up about this subject. It has gone from overly extreme to making it a joke. Born agains a overly religious folks be damned! I think people should be responsible and respectful of others beliefs. I glad this was enjoyed and something positive.
