Do you take your doctors advice seriously?  

Well we would like to think that doctors are always all knowledgeable, but its important like with all else to have a mind of our own and evaluate all, even doctor's orders. Doctors are not Gods, and as humans also make mistakes.

if wanna be healthy, of course, I'll follow my doctor's advice. it would hurt if I don't follow doctor's advice due to go and get his advice, I has paid him, right?

cloud31 most of the time I am very good at taking my doctor's advice seriously but am having big trouble doing as he suggested, cut down on
'what I am eating as I have no choice in the selection of foods I am fed here at Gold crest and ou tside of just cutting the portions in half I feel like I do not get a break for my diabetes as they are carb high here which is okay for those who do not have blood sugar problems but a good third or more of residents here are diabetics. so have at timea bought veggies I can eat raw or fruit to supplement a top heavy carb diet,we do not get enough meat here. He said he did not want to raise the amount of diabetic meds that I take as I have too many 90's and lower readings. so I must come up with a way to cut carbs and lose some weight and balance my blood glucose better.I do trust my doctor as Ihave been with him for years now, so must be a better patient.

I think that climber's comment is very true.

About the only advice I take from doctors is to finish taking medications even when you are feeling better; this pertains mainly to antibiotics. I don't know too much of others. I always took the doctor's advise until I thought I was a-ok again. When I was having kidney stones I was so diligent until a few months after the pain was gone and then I would go to the diet that was causing the problem.

What I think people have to realize is that medicine is still an art form, not 100% science. Things that are declared healthy today may not have been thought so just ten years ago.

I was talking to an "old timer" once, (yeah, even older than me ) and he told me that in the '20's his doctor told him to smoke because he had TB!

Even though I have decent health insurance, I've stopped taking medication/following the doctor's "recommendation" to save money. In fact, this morning, I cancelled a refill of my prescription, so I could pay for my dog's prescription. I just found out she has cancer of the bladder and now, my goal is to give her the quality of life that I can. So I'm tired/depressed for awhile. I'll get back on my meds someday.

When doctors prohibit things for me to eat I take some risk sometimes but really you are right its not good if keep it that way.I should keep them seriously.

Doctor know the health problem. They have knowledgeable in our health. So we need to take the advice seriously. But sometimes you need to aware those not license doctor. May be they are fake. Good Health! and Happy Lotting.

I can't always follow doctors advice because I always want to eat what they asked me to stop eating.What more is i don't like medicine all the time so i'm not a good patient.lol

I take doctor's decision seriously depending on the seriousness of my disease. Once I went to doctor because I felt that something was wrong with my throat. Doctor examined and said that everything was fine. But, he told me to garggle with hot salt water to avoid if there was in case a problem with the throat. I didn't do that because I felt the throat was fine. But, if it is a serious advice and not a suggestion, I will take it seriuosly.
