Naming our Pets  

Well where do I start. Cats: Button as she was white with two cicles either side of her with two white dots in the middle so they looked liked buttons, Sybil, black cat meaning prophetess, black cats are witches cats went well, Greebo, mucky black cat always in trouble always covered in oil fromlaying under cars, fitted well. Wilfred daughter named no reason. Bob, he had no tail lol. Rabbits Snowy was white self explanatory etc etc. we also have rabbits called Nike, Sweetheart, Rosie, Katie, guinea pig Dave (after guy in pet shop) and Badger cos he looks like one and the only fish with a name is Bluey as he is a blie siamese fighting fish and we also had Angel the hamster who unfortunaly is with the angels right now bless.

What cute names! We have a cat called Shady and a dog called Pixie. Shady was named after Eminem (The Real Slim Shady) and because she is tortoiseshell with lots of different colours and shades in her fur. Pixie was the only name all of us liked and was after Pixie Geldof. In the past, we have had animals named after gymnasts as I love gymnastics - Nadia the cat, Olga the dog, Tatiana and Natalia the rats. We had a cat called Delgado (after Dr Who actor Roger Delgado), a dog called Katy (after actress Katy Manning), rats called Babs, Hattie and Joanie (after Carry On stars) and Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger from Winnie the Pooh!

hi dorannmwin When we had pets a long time back I named our dog Seap because we got her at a swap meet as a puppy, and our jet black tom cat I named Midnight as he had not speck of white anywhere on him,

Bommer - My 15 yr old dog was rescued from the SPCA. When we adopted him he was infested with mange mites and had no hair on his back legs. He looked like a big boo boo.

Thumper - Our Quarter Horse has two names. Her barn name is Thumper because when she was first foaled she would stand in the stall and kick her hind foot like Thumper in the movie Babmi. Her registered name is Sleepy Little Rose. This is a combination of her dam's name Rosadator and her sire's name, Mr. Sleepy's Man.

Bunny - Our 9 yr old hound dog. We decided to give her a name of something she would never hunt. This dog is so spoiled the only thing she ever hunts is her food bowl and a cushy place to lay down.

Delilah - Our 2 yr old papillion. She was named becuase my mother has a papillion named Sampson that we intend to bred her with and for the biblical reference since she is his downfall. Her registered name is Delilah Doodles Tax Day Delima. She was born on April 15th and we always seem to have some kind of delima in our house, so poor thing will always be a problem. LOL

I wasn't very creative when i named my pet lol..I was in highschool and we were watching Romeo and Juliet..yes the one with Leo Dicaprio ..Anyways i decided to name him Romeo..He is a Pomeranian ..Now people always ask me .."are you his Juliet?" or say quotes from the movie/play..We also had a dog we named Daisy ..That was a bigger dog and passed away years ago.I didn't name her ..too young at the time

I have 3 cats, Char, Simba and Zeke. Char was named thus because he's all black, and at the time my mother had an all black cat named Cole... so I thought Char would be cute... Charcoal.. get it?

We got Simba and Zeke right about the same time. Simba is an orange tiger and was really frisky as a kitten.. he just reminded me of the lion from Lion King..

Zeke is a freak.. honestly, always was, he's just weird. He'd get frisky and run up to play with you but as soon as you'd interact he'd freak out and run away, still does, so we just started calling him Zeke the Freak.

My foster mom had some weird ways of coming up with cat names. Sometimes it was their color, sometimes it was something she was into at the time. She had one cat that was a total scaredy cat and she called him a Psycho.. so she named him Norman Bates. Then when I was a teen and into french and wanted to actually go to France she got a cat and decided to name it the french word for cat, which is chat (pronounced like shot) and so that cat was named Chatsie. She also had a cat named Baby.. from Dirty Dancing. Casey was actually named Kitten Cotter (Cotter was her last name) shortened to KC.. and eventually just became Casey.

Our original dogs are Jack and Georgia. They gave us puppies whom we named Max, Bubba and Gaston. We have three cats who are named Penny, Junior (who's a girl but she kinda looks like her mom Penny) and Michiko.

Cornbread sounds like a cool name for a cat. Had I seen this post earlier, Gaston would have had that name, since he kinda has light burnt-brown color.

We have a Shih Tzu named Tacka and a native one (mixed breed) named Bossing. People really want to name pets of course. Here in the Philippines, even those native dogs have the privilege to be named accordingly. If I were to have a new native dog then I would name it Muning or Kuting which is usually given to native cats in the Philippines. lol

we used to have a dog named "Sneezle" because when she was young she always had colds and sneeze often. after her we raised a dog we named "Dark" because of his pure black color. he's gone now too. and we don't intend to take care of any more puppies. so we ended up with cats, lots of them. we have 6. and we gave them the most conventional names anyone could ever think of. in fact, it's so embarrassing to admit how uncreative we were during their births. our first cat we call "Night" because she's also colored black, our second cat's "Light" the opposite of the former, whose color is pure white. our third cat we call "Dawn" not really because of her color, which is brown, but just to complement with the other two cats names. (day = light)

Night's first baby we just called her "Little Night" (they look a lot like each other, except that the latter don't have white streaks on her neck) while the only male cat, which is also night's kid, unfortunately isn't baptized yet with any name and he's really getting old already. none survived from Light's babies. Dawn's called "Baby Dawn" (who look a lot like her mother too except her tail which is shorter, almost none at all). i don't know if it has got something to do with their names but Little Night and Baby Dawn both looked smaller than their moms.

I don't know, the names just come. Now my mom used to give really interesting names like Mai Tai, Delilah, Mephistopheles, etc. Me, it's things like Jinx and Pounce and such. My cats that I have now are Oreo, because he's black and white, Jason because my son named him after a boy in his class and Tiger two because he looks just like Tiger who died the year before...
