Do You Believe in Karma?

The definition of Karma as per http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karma (not a referral)is this: "Karma is the universal principle of cause and effect. Our actions, both good and bad, come back to us in the future, helping us to learn from life’s lessons and become better people. In religions that include reincarnation, karma extends through one's present life and all past and future lives as well. Karma is basically energy. One person throws out energy through thoughts, words and actions, and it comes back, in time, through other people. Karma is the best teacher, forcing people to face the consequences of their actions and thus improve and refine their behavior, or suffer if they do not. Even harsh karma, when faced in wisdom, can be the greatest spark for spiritual growth. The conquest of karma lies in intelligent action and unemotional response." Now my mama would not say Karma, she would say something like "what goes around comes back around" or "you will reap the seeds you have sewn" or "everyone gets their just reward". No matter what you call it or how you see it, do you believe in it? I certainly do. I found out tonight that someone I use to work with got there just rewards. This person was one of the kinds of people that would tell lies about you, start rumors or share any personal confidential information she could about you with everyone she came into contact with. While working together she picked up the company checks one day and saw how much I made, well she made it her goal for the day to spread this information to as many people as she could. She even had other employees calling their friends within the company to tell them. One of the employees called me and told me that she had been contacted by this person and that my salary was being discussed among everyone in the company. Needless to say I was very angry at this intrusion into my private business. I filed a complaint with the company and she got reprimanded but I don't feel that the punishment was enough to justify what she did. Needless to say she did these sorts of things often to several people. She cheated on her husband with numerous people (of which she would actually sit in the office and brag about to us). She would openly discuss things that she had stolen from various places, once while in Walmart she walked out with some diet pills. She also bragged that her and her husband went to one of the model showcase homes in a new community and stole a complete dining room suite. I ended up leaving the company and starting my own business. I will admit that her devious tactics and manipulation of the owner really contributed towards my leaving. I found out today that after I left the company the owner's daughter took my place and basically cleaned house. My enemy was put through the ringer and scrutinized and worked hard by my replacement and found to be very lacking. She was fired and since that time things have gone down hill for her. She lost her vehicle, her husband kicked her out and she moved back in with her family. Now don't get me wrong, I am not happy about this but I do find that the things we do come back around to us. If we are good hearted and gracious we will get that in return. If we are devious and spiteful and manipulative we will eventually get what we dished out. How do you feel fellow MyLotters?

I get myself to believe karma's main meaning but i do believe in the saying 'what goes around comes around'. Although karma poses a more supernatural meaning. I only believe that if i treated a person badly, he might feel hatred towards me and may get back at me in the future.

I feel that way as well. "What goes around comes back around". I believe that a person cannot do bad things and get away with it forever. Eventually their luck will run out. It will catch up with that person. Thanks for replying! Happy MyLotting!

I sure do believe in Karma. Things have a way of coming back to a person. I have seen it happen many times. Course the Bible puts it in a different way but to me it all is the same. All I want is good karma.

I can honestly say that recently Karma did come back and bite my old boss in his rump! His company is in major trouble with the state employment security commision, the state tax office and that is just the start. Thank you for stopping by.

Oops, that is not good. Things could get nasty for him. Most people don't think they will ever get caught but it does happen.

The idea of Karma basically means "You get what you give." It's all about your actions and how you treat people. Whatever you do intentionally to others comes back to you in the future. So if you are kind and generous, then good things will happen to you. On the other hand, if you are mean and insensitive to others, then not-so-good things could happen to you.so the actions of your past lives can affect your present and future lives.i do believe in karma, but sometimes good people go through terrible things and treated terribly by others no matter how good they are.

i believe in karma. i believe also in the common sense thinking that once you rattle something it's bound to come down on you. i also abide by the bible's do unto others what you want others do unto you. they are all basically the same with what karma is saying, right? karma, i believe and noticed, comes in different words based on different beliefs and am not only saying religious beliefs but based on the different ideologies of different people.

ElicBxn you are so right. I cannot feel sorry for her at the moment. I just don't understand why a person has to be like that to start with. Thank you for your reply!

hi oh yes what goes around comes around. My boss in our library laid me off as I was almost 80 and that was the only reason. she said I was her best worker but she had to lay me off. so okay then she got fired, what for, for firing me just for being old, the headquarters said you do not fire anyone just for being a certain age.so the manager and assistant manager both lost their jobs because of what they did to me. I refused to return though I was asked.I had had enough.Yes do mean nasty things it will come back and bite you in the butt.

Hatley I am glad that your boss and the assistant manager got fired. I cannot believe those morons were that stupid. Don't they realize that age discrimination is something that they could get a lawsuit slapped on them for? Did you ever think about slapping them with a lawsuit? I probably would not have taken the job back either. It is shameful that they did you that way. Thanks for responding!

I am a huge believer in karma as well. I feel that that young lady got everything she deserved. You truly reap what you sow.

Thank you for your comment bucklord. I also believe that she got what she deserved. Pretty soon one has enough rope to hang themselves with. All of those misdeeds come back to haunt her.

karma. I do not know whether I believe or not. but I always assumed that occur in the future is a result of that we have done now. if we're doing now is good we will definitely be in the future is good, too.

Karma is the main idea of the buddhism,I don't believe in any religion,so I don't believe in Karma at all,I don't think that make any sense, what go around will come around is just so ridiculous, life is complicated, you can just control 70% of life, the rest of the 30% is just doomed, you sow,but maybe you can't reap, somebody didn't sow,but they get a lot,if there is a god on this earth,I want him to open up his eye to see the uneveness

In its simplest form, yes I believe in it to an extent. The good you do will eventually come back and benefit you in the end. However only if it is for a genuine purpose. If you do good expecting to be rewarded than that could be considered to be malicious if you look at it for a certain angle and that can come back to bite you in the end. At the same time, I feel or rather that hope that the actions of those who do harm to others will come back against them in spades. In a perfect world, that should happen. Of course, it may take a while for it to happen, as we do not live in a perfect world. If we did, than Karma would be something that was more strongly believed in. However, I do think that there is something to be said about it being true.

megamatt you are right about the time frame. I have often wondered why so many people can go around doing bad and not get paid back sooner. I guess its better late than never though. Thanks for your input!

Hi, I believe in karma. It is the spiritual concept taught by Buddhism and Hinduism. In science also we know that every action has reaction with equal proportion. We get as per what we do in life. our good and evil deeds follow us as our shadow. Every action of us has effect on our lives. So we should be honest, kind, loving to others. We should not be selfish, jealous, greedy etc.
