Louis Farrakhan, Saudi Prince Bandar and...RAND PAUL? |

| That's right, Louis Farrakhan, Saudi Prince Bandar and Rand Paul - what could these three gentlemen possibly have in common? Give up yet? They're the only three major guests to ever cancel appearances on "Meet the Press" in the show's 62 year history with Paul being the latest to do so, having canceled for this coming Sunday morning's show earlier this evening. His campaign told producers Paul was "exhausted". : http://firstread.msnbc.ms... So, Paul supporters, why do you suppose he canceled? "Meet the Press" is the most prestigious of the Sunday morning political talk shows and reaches a big audience. Doesn't it seem like he'd want to appear there, perhaps especially in light of some of the recent controversial comments he's made, in order to clarify his views to the voters? I believe it was on "Good Morning America" that he asked when his "honeymoon" would be; since when do Senatorial candidates get honeymoons...lol? Annie Annie | | | | | |

| | why do you suppose he canceled? " um because he is exhausted? this is his first campaign and these things drain a person. Maybe after just winning the primary he wanted to chill for a bit. since when do Senatorial candidates get honeymoons...lol? lol indeed - Obama seems to think he is STILL on his. Goodness, all the shivers and good vibrations, the free passes on info that is always public info on all other candidates. Maybe THAT was the honeymoon he spoke of. | | | | | | |

| | So you don't think it has just a LITTLE BIT to do with his bouts of feet in mouth disease? Hey, I'm just saying... Since I'm not running for anything I can get away with evading questions...lol. However, I'll just say this isn't about Obama but now that's someone that sure didn't get any honeymoon whatsoever, at least not on the planet I've been spending time on. Annie | | | |

| | The Obama infatuation is a great unreported story of our time. Has any recent president basked in so much favorable media coverage? Well, maybe John Kennedy for a moment, but no president since. On the whole, this is not healthy for America. Obama has inspired a collective fawning. What started in the campaign (the chief victim was Hillary Clinton, not John McCain) has continued, as a study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism shows. It concludes: "President Barack Obama has enjoyed substantially more positive media coverage than either Bill Clinton or George W. Bush during their first months in the White House." The study examined 1,261 stories by The Post, the New York Times, ABC, CBS and NBC, Newsweek magazine and the "NewsHour" on PBS. Favorable articles (42 percent) were double the unfavorable (20 percent), while the rest were "neutral" or "mixed." Obama's treatment contrasts sharply with coverage in the first two months of the Bush (22 percent of stories favorable) and Clinton (27 percent) presidencies. http://www.washingtonpost... This info is available all over the place and this took me NO effort to find. There are books being written on the subject! | | | |

| | I think it will be interesting to see if he appears on other shows in the next day or two. I will say this, if I was his press secretary I would do the same thing. Every time he opens in month on TV he says something that needs to be explained more than he does (call it the Biden syndrome). Meet the press also asked tough questions, and he has been asked mostly softballs and has screwed them up. Could you imagine how bad this could be for him is he went on Meet the Press? | | | | | | |

| | I'm afraid we're in for a male version of Sarah Palin...lol! He'll likely stick with the friendly confines of Fox News where the hardest questions will be something like, "So how mad ARE you at Rachel Maddow?" and "Who needs Meet the Press anyway?". I'd just like to repeat that I didn't start out against Rand Paul, I actually kind of liked him. Now I simply realize he's not ready for prime time! Annie | | | |

| | Maybe if the press reported the news instead of making it he and others like him would appear. Just look at how they are reporting the AZ law. They are all condemning it with out reading it. | | | | | | |

| | I'm afraid I don't follow you, Bob. How is the press "making" the news regarding Paul? It seems to me that it's his own words that have gotten him in hot water here. Also, it was his general election opponent that made the allegation he'd said he wanted to appeal the Civil Rights Act, not a media member. Annie | | | |

| | He never said he wanted to "repeal the Civil Rights Acts".Infact he said if elected he would NOT try and repeal it. All he said was that the private sector should not run by the federal govrnment. He never said he was in favor of discrimination. A lot has been put into his mouth. He simply said he did not feel it was the federal governments job to tell private business owners how to run their businesses. This whole thing has been blown up over nothing. | | | |

| | Who knows why he canceled. I will say unless he really is "exhausted"....he should have gone on. Alot has been said that needs to be cleared up. There is a big difference between what he said and what is being reported. NOthing new there. The news is good for making sensational stories out of nothing and blowing things out of proportions for ratings. It happens to just about all politicans at one time or another. Somehow a remark about the civil rights act and handicap...has turned into he is pro racism...which is not true...and that he is pro discrimation...which is also not true...but hey sense when has a little thing like the truth stopped the press. They need ratings. This is how they get it. Sensationalizism and lies. How is a comments about giving companies great flexibility in how they accomidate handicap people so horrible. He is not saying they don't have to accomdiate them...just that companies should have more flexibility in how they do it. Also I know a lot of poeple don't agree with "free market"...but he does believe in the "free market". Which means the consumer (the average citizens) has the power to regulate companies...not the federal government. If you don't agree with Free Market...fine you don't agree with it. But that does not mean that people that do are "racist or discrimatory". They just see it as the poeple solving the problem instead of the federal government. Either way the problem gets solved. But it matters who is the one solving it. Becaue whoever solves the problem is the one with the power and control...the ones with the power and control should be the citizens of this country...not the federal government. So it really comes down to asking yourself who is responsible for solving this problem and other problems in our society...the federal government or the people of this country? one side thinks the feds...the other the people. Neither is "for" not solving the problem. See the media could have explained all that. They explain things all the time and do "indept reporting" on things all the time. Free market is not a new idea. It has been around a very long time (as long as this country has been around). But have you seen any "indept reports" on free market? Of course not...because the explaintion of it is not as "sexy" or gets as high of ratings than calling someone a "racist" or "pro discrimination". It does not grab people's attention like showing people pictures of the 50s and 60s "white only" signs. | | | | | | |
