wow, it is amazing to me that these people get elected.
Jerrold Nadler Representative from New York voiced his opinion of the Constitution.
“They are reading it like a sacred text,” He called the “ritualistic reading” on the floor “total nonsense” and “propaganda” intended to claim the document for Republicans.
he also bashed the Tea Party people, wondering how many of them have actually read the Constitution.
This, in my opinion is the reason for reading it aloud on the house floor. However, people like Nadler, with no respect nor reverence for the very document he is expected to know, govern on, and defend.
So it seems our Constitution is propaganda...?!

Is this not a violation of the oath they take?
"I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God."

I see it as a violation of the oath he/she takes. It's certainly hypocritical. And I wonder if his constituents agree or if he only chose to reveal his disdain for the constitution after he was re-elected? If the later, I hope his constituents remember this in 2012.

The Republicans have already broken the United States Constitution by allowing Reps (2 Republicans) the ability to vote who where not sworn in. So as Actions speak louder than words. Nader is sadly right it was just propaganda by the Republicans. Its really sad to see that the Republicans just used the Document to get some head way and go on to violate it. I hope the democrats don't allow the now sworn in Reps their votes when they weren't actually sworn in. As it would allow for a violation of the United States Constitution.

Reading it is important and understanding how our country should be running but sadly these are politicians who have an agenda that in most of the cases needs to violate one part or another of the constitution like Amendment 10.
Did the Democrats block the proposal by the House Majority leader to have their votes count as they are now sworn in. So have their votes count retroactively?
Which if they did allow them to do that violates the constitution.

To people like Rep. Nadler, the oath of office must simply be a bunch of words that mean nothing to him or his job. Which tells the world that they are liars whose word means nothing. They would say anything and do anything, the facts or truth be damned.

Personally, I think statements like that should be grounds for impeachment or at least a recall vote by his constituents. I'm disgusted that people who swear to support and defend the constitution could so openly insult it without people batting an eye.

I applaud the Democrats who accepted the invitation to participate in the reading of the Constitution. Unfortunately, few Democrats other than these attended the session. I think this is a tragic mistake for them.
There is nothing detrimental that can come from reading the Constitution in the House. It shows a respect for the founding document of our government and the principles they have sworn to uphold. They sound petulant for calling it grandstanding and propaganda and it doesn't improve anyone's opinion of them. By refusing to even attend, they are thumbing their noses at the Constitution.
I believe that those like Nadler will make points with only the most liberal fringe elements and have completely ignored the fact that a return to basic truths and principles is what the majority of the American public want.

It is downright reprehensible that such people get elected. This particular man is a useful idiot to those who excrete on our Constitution in order to remove our freedoms and protections.
Because of his ignorance and the ignorance of a majority of self-destructive citizens we have a foreign and domestic enemy sitting illegally in the WH dismantling our country.
So many of our politicians are a disgrace to this nation.
But we continue to tolerate such duplicity and corruption.
God is a "MAN OF HIS WORD"; too many of our politicians "speak with forked tongue" and are well versed in the art of lying.
When they say "So help me God" and then reject both our Constitution and our God as their father, they become sons and daughters of the Father of Lies, and corruption is their song, duplicity their game.
