My Computer Files Are So Disorganized!

And I'm an organized person. But I get lazy and that's so many files I have on there, that they kind of end up being EVERYWHERE. I apparently even have a folder entitled 'Organize Later.' And to imagine, I used to be quite organized on my laptop. Guess I got lazy over the years! Are your computer files organized nicely on your computer? Or are they strewn about like mine?

In our computer, I always organize my files. I have to do it. I shared this computer with so many people that's why it's really necessary to organize always my files and also because I have so many personal things inside this computer.

Please don't report me. I don't know why this cat appeared here. I really don't know how or why.

I'm quite organized - folders and files on my desktop only cover about 1/4 of the screen. Well, I do a cleanup every once in a while to shake off unneeded files, put dispatched files back in order, and do a defragmentation of my hard drive to keep my computer running quite smoothly. ;D

I do the whole defragmentation and cleanup as well. It's just that I get lazy where I save my school files and other files even though I do have folders! They kind of end up everywhere! I used to not be like that though. Got lazy over the years!

Well I have not really added that many since I updated my computer from Vista to Windows 7. Guess I really have not even considered wanting to add anything on here either. As for my Email I have a lot of the different Emails in groups like for myLot etc. to where I can try and keep up with all the different types of Emails coming in there as well.

Heyya StephanieAnnC! My computer files are pretty organized..bit's the area I keep my computer that could use some organizing..LOL. The thing that helped me the most is getting a flash drive. I store almost everything on that instead of my computer itself.

I apparently even have a folder entitled 'Organize Later. I don't have a folder like that, but I use the desktop. For files that I don't have the immediate time to file correctly, I just put it in the desktop. That way, when it all gets cluttered when I open up the computer, then I know it's time to organize.

Yea sometimes i check and organize things in my PC, then again things gets disorganized when i add more file into it, it never seems to end organizing, its a time consuming work too, i wonder sometimes think the files in brain are also like our PC , wonder if it is possible to arrange files and things appropriately then there then things wouldn't be so confusion. Almost everyone's things are disorganized and sometimes people tend to get lazy to fix it.

I am, or try to be, an organized person also. I got a couple USB Flash Drives and put my writing on one and pictures on the other. That way I have alot less files on my computer. Frees up alot of space and my computer runs faster too. You can get all different sizes of flash drives relatively inexpensively.

lol I get disorganized too, one thing that i have done is set a folder for each related type of file, and then sometimes i put it in one big folder on my desktop to keep it in one place

I dare not even think about reorganising my files putting them in separate folders as that would take years. Taking advantage of the GBs that we have got I have gone on saving thousands of files which perhaps if I sat down patiently and took a decision on what is needed and what is not I could reduce them to may be just 10%. But sadly I will not be able to do it. The only section which I would really work on is my photos which I have captured using my camera which again run into thousands.

Well hope it is not taking you too long to look for something that you saved in your computer. I have a problem with that too, as I am fond of taking pictures and videos.I tend to multiply by files for I have to edit those pictures and videos so many times and I don't delete them right away thinking I might need them in the future. HOwever, after a while, if I know that I don't need those files anymore, thats when I clean my computer, and this usually happens when my computer is running slow or it usually freezes.

Hahaha "Organize later" that's too funny! I have folders called To Sort and To Sort 2!! I have the hardest time figuring out how to organize everything, I try to put everything in nice folders but it seems they get cluttered up so fast I don't know what to do. My desktop is even worse, files all over so you can't even see the background picture! If you find the answer let me know!!

Mine are kinda organized, enough for me to be able to find what I want when I want, anyway. I have general file titles like 'Gardening', 'Recipes', 'Knitting/crocheting', 'Crafts', etc. and manage to get my files under those headings. Once their under those headings, though, some do need some work. I have sub-files and at least started to really get them all organized but I just haven't had the time. This discussion reminded me of something else, though. When I was going through my stepfather's papers (he was a self-employed professional engineer), I found no less than 10 files called 'miscellaneous' or 'sundry'. Apparently, this super-organized person had his moments where some things just didn't warrant a folder of their own or he just didn't have the time to file them properly. On a larger note, he had entire boxes labeled 'miscellaneous' or 'sundry'. After weeks of going through all these things I said, if I see one more thing called 'sundry' I'm going to scream! Luckily, I didn't.

Yes I am very meticulous and have a need to organize everything in my computer. In fact too organized as I do this with everything. I do several mystery shops and I have to be really organized with all files as not being organized could cost me payments. lol I have files by year, then by months so I can easily find everything I am looking for. It is a chore but then once all organized it makes searching for things quite easy. Even my music files are nicely organized. I began this way, as I use to have a 6 drawer filing cabinet I got rid of and now I scan almost everything and keep in nice files in my pc and also a back up in my external hard drive.
