Did you ever have an article of clothing go *poof* and totally disappear?

Yesterday, as I was preparing to go see a doctor about my nose (it's much better today, btw) I had taken a shower and was dressing. I put on a blouse that just didn't look right, at least not with the pants I had on, so I took it off and put another blouse on. That one worked. Awesome. So, I go to the doctor's and was gone a few hours since I had to also pick up some prescriptions. When I got home, I looked for that blouse because I know I didn't hang it up after I took it off, I just threw it on the bed. Well, it's nowhere to be found! I have searched every room on this floor THREE times, no blouse. I've looked in the dirty clothes hamper, nothing. I looked to see if, maybe, I hung it back up without remembering, nothing. I've looked under and behind furniture! Nothing. I didn't go to the basement so it can't be there. The only place I went was out the door to my car and I'm positive I didn't haul that blouse along with me. It's driving me nuts. Have you lost anything like this before? Did it ever show up again later? I'm thinking more and more that this area (known as Indian Hollow) was built on an ancient Indian burial ground and they're not happy.

I kind of had a poof. Did some shopping last weekend. Most of it was school stuff for Dearra, but I picked up a few blouses for myself too. Today I went and put one of them one, couldn't find the other one at all. Didn't remember having worn it, so it should have been hanging right there. No blouse. I looked in the dirty laundry. No blouse. Got ready for work, and came back in because it was bothering me, looked through the blouses again and there is was. (insert Twilight Zone music here).

I'd welcome that Twilight Zone music at this point if I would only see the blouse where I've already looked... 4 times now. (Yeah, I had to look again, everywhere. It's bothering me, too, BIG TIME.) The idea that I've lost a little bit more of my brain, the part that SEES things we look at, is more appealing than old Indian ghosts taking whatever they want. There is the highly unlikely scenario where my husband came home from work and actually did laundry before I got back from seeing the doctor but that really is unlikely since, when I came home, he was lying on his bed, taking a nap. However, it is something I haven't looked into so I'll just have to go have a peek in the laundry room.

Reminds me of the time I went back to Target looking for my black sweat jacket. It wasn't in the dressing room. It wasn't in the lost and found. It wasn't in the car. It wasn't in the house. I hadn't been anywhere else. it eventually turned up in the dirty laundry. May yours turn up too!

Yep, dirty laundry. There it was, sitting in a pile on the floor (typical husband-like thing to do) in the laundry room. Apparently, he had taken the dirty laundry downstairs which is something he almost never does, plus he only had a short period of time to do it before I got home. Maybe he's trying to get me to stay? Sadly, too little, too late. At least I have my blouse again and it wasn't old Indian ghosts.

i couldnt tell you the things thats gone missing from me and i never found again. but then im a big pack rat, of which iam still in the process of getting rid of many of those things.really am.!! when my girls were at home, it was usually one of them that pinched something i had they wanted. sometimes id think of that story about the tiny people called "the borrowers"

Fortunately, I had boys. No girls to "borrow" my things. If my boys wanted my things, well, I guess I'd have to tell them that my things aren't their size. Besides, they're not here. The only other person in the house when it went missing was my husband. I finally had a look in the laundry room in the basement and there it was. Apparently, my husband actually did some laundry! It was just really weird since he almost never does anything around here and he had only a small window of time after he got home from work and I got home from the doctor/pharmacy in which to do anything at all. Just one of those things, I suppose. Maybe there was a full moon last night. He's just such a lazy man that I would never have thought about it except that it was driving me crazy and I HAD to find it. But, mystery solved. Old Indian ghosts didn't take it after all.

Wow!! Interesting .. I am sure it has happened to me before, and maybe it will show up later when you take all the blankets off the bed or something. It would be a little interesting to me too if something like this happened. Did you ever find it again?

I found the blouse. I NEVER thought about it getting moved the way it was because, well, if you knew my husband, you'd understand. I normally do the laundry because he won't touch it. That's what I thought, anyway. He had picked up all his dirty clothes (he just throws his wherever he happens to be when he takes them off and they stay there until I pick them up, usually) and grabbed my blouse along with his clothes and took everything down to the laundry room. It figures, the only time I've known him to have anything to do with the laundry was when that blouse of mine was on the bed. He didn't remember taking my blouse with his clothes, though, so he didn't say a word. It was on a hunch of mine that I thought to check the laundry room. My smallest dog had lost her favorite squeeky toy once. We searched the house at least five times, top to bottom, but couldn't find her toy. I thought it had gotten thrown in the trash by accident. She LOVES this specific toy and was so sad. I bought her other toys but they weren't THAT toy, you know? About a year later, I was getting ready to put a new mattress topper on my mattress and pulled off the old one. SOMEHOW, her toy had managed to get between my mattress and the topper. My dog was beside herself with happiness! She had her toy back! It was so sweet, the way she acted, it brought tears to my eyes. But, how that toy got between those two things without me noticing, I'll never know.

Oh yes, things like that happen around here all the time. I have spirits, one a female and she takes things and puts them back right where she got them from in 3 days. She has taken things, important things that was needed like my medicine and glasses and other things I just ask her politely to bring them back telling her that that item is needed and I can not wait 3 days to get it back and it is an important thing that I need all the time and would she please not take that item again. Within an hour the item is back where it was left at and it is not touched again. If you do have a spirit that is taking things, they can't really keep them they have no use for them. They just miss the material things from this life and they some times take them. If this has happened just ask for the spirit to bring back the blouse to ease your mind. As long as they are just taking things and not harming you or anyone in the home then you have nothing to worry about.

Wow! You've reminded me of something from my past. We had a spirit in the house I grew up in. He was friendly and tried not to scare anyone, at least not after the first "meeting". He was also very clumsy and was always knocking things over but would always put them back where they were, slightly off from where they were so we knew what it was. Once, I heard him brushing his teeth. It was only myself and my mother in the house and I thought she was brushing her teeth and I had something to ask her so I called her. She answered from the other side of the house. I said, "Aren't you in the bathroom?" "No, why?" "Because someone is brushing their teeth right now." It was our ghost. He was cool and I missed him terribly when we moved from that house. The way things have gone missing in this house I'm in now says we may just have another spirit, unless my dogs have become very adept at comfiscating things and hiding them. I had a cat once who loved to steal dimes. She would watch me when I was rolling change to take to the bank and run in, grab a dime, then run off again, only to be back a minute later, waiting for her chance to steal another one. Always dimes, nothing else.

Lol, I'm glad I was able to remind you of happy times gone by. Your dog sounds like she likes shiny objects. Dimes are really shiny more so than the other coins. You just may have a spirit where you are now too. I don't mind them as long as there is no trouble or a feeling of pending trouble. I can tell and I know when as vicious entity is in my home. I get rid of them. They are not allowed to stay here.

Oh, man, that sucks! I would HATE to need to cut the grass but be unable because I couldn't find the key. I keep the key to our rider mower in the ignition all the time. That's because I don't have to worry about any thieves around here. Not only is this a private community but our house is the most "open" (view-wise) of all the houses around here, meaning a thief would think twice about stealing anything from us because there's only one exit for one thing and for another, there's no way anyone could get near our house without the neighbors seeing and the dogs barking their heads off. There are a few advantages to living here out in the sticks. If I lost the key to my mower, I'd go nuts! I wonder if those keys are "generic"? I mean, could you just order another one from the manufacturer of the mower? If not, you're going to have to have a new ignition/key made for the mower. I'm sure there are people out there who could start the mower without the key (like car thieves who hotwire the cars) but other than that, I couldn't help you. I sure hope you can find your key soon!

The residencial complex where I live is also built on an old Inca cementery and many times it hears weird noises by nights. I already used to them. I think your blouse will appears again. But first it has to finish to wear it, the daughter of Indian chief who had it taken.

I can often blame it on the cats, but I've seen something I've looked for and looked for suddenly turn up in plain sight, or nearly so - it can be pretty disconcerting! I remember finding something we had given up on some time ago - and saying - well, the Black hole got tired of it or decided it wasn't important since we'd stopped looking for it

Hello mental ward. Of course it has happened to me as well. Usually i loose socks pairs and find them days later. But although this is about clothing the longest article lost was my id. I even made a new id, and found it about 1 year later... talk about that (at least i got a better picture on the new one though).

That would drive me absolutely crazy as well. I've certainly had that feeling with things like my car keys - I KNOW I put them somewhere and they wound up on the other side of the house, in a pair of pants pockets, wherever. Sometimes I think we have a lot going on up there (in our heads) that we sometimes confuse ourselves. But your situation actually sounds really confusing - where could it have gone?! I hope no one stole it AND I hope it turns up soon!!!!

Hi Mentalward. Did it show up yet?? This has happened to us in the last year with sheets! We used to have a few more single and queen sized bed sheets than we do now, but over time they have completely disappeared! No one knows where they went to or has any clues as to what happened to them. We initially thought that they had gotten lost in amongst all our other stuff at our old house but after moving and totally going through every single thing we have, they did not show up. I am puzzled and can only think that they were stolen from our clothes line perhaps?

oh mentalward that sounds familiar to me too. My husband years ago gave several sweatshirts to me he would no more fit into as they were much too small for him. I gladly took them and put them on my stack of sweats. Unfortunately I ruined one of them with some chemical bleach so this one was put on another stack of home-sweet-home-clothes. hmmm this one has vanished for some time now too. There must be some Indian Hollow here too....... havent found it yet......

I experienced that too! And the worst thing was that usually the ones that go missing are my favorites. Arghhh. The perfect ones are the ones missing and the ugly ones are the ones that stays. The perfect ones are hard to find.

I have not had anything disappear quite so mysteriously before, but I am currently missing a black cami that I know I have not worn in months. I did not turn the house upside down looking for it yet, but it has me wondering where on earth it wandered off too.

Yes, I often misplace things, although I am not always at fault. I lost my belt for a while, but it turned out that my partner had been wearing it because his had broken. I lost my only dressy cardigan that was a designer item that I had got at a heavily discounted price - I had it for years but recently I wore it out to wear my mum was staying on holiday. We were sitting and swimming around the pool, then later more family turned up and we all went and got food and bought it back to the pool and ate it. Later I went up to my mum's room and realised my cardigan was missing. I went back to the pool area, but couldn't find it, I went and asked staff in the restaurant and one of them checked the pool area for me, then I rang the place a few times later but it wasn't in lost property. I hate to admit that there were a few young girls dressed in black sitting around the pool some of the time I was there and I guess one of them must have picked it up when we left the area, as it was dark and I mustn't have seen it then or I wouldn't have left it there. Recently I have lost a black coat and I can't find it anywhere. I have asked my mum and sisters, in case it has been left at their place or in their cars, but none of them remember seeing it, so I don't know what I have done with it.

Yes, though I'm very suspicious that my sister stole them I had found an adorable pair of Black Adidas pants with pink stripes down the side and I got them for free! I loved them and I wore them all the time with everything. Lol. My sister often said that she liked them, but I always figured that because she is about half of my size I really didn't need to worry about her bumming them from me. But, lo and behold... they disappeared! At first I thought I was just nuts and misplaced them, but I never could figure out where they went for a long time and I lived in a mobile home so there really weren't too many places to look. A year later I was at my Mom's house when I saw my sister and one of her friends come into the house and her friend was wearing my pants! I flipped out and started yelling at my sister for not respecting my stuff and thinking she can just give it to her friends and she denied it I pardoned myself to her friend, but I do not believe that she is innocent at all. She has stolen so much other stuff from me over the years that I do not see how this could be any different.
