Well, in my family it always has been tradition to have a big turkey and tufting and all the fixings. But I was never a turkey fan, to this day I just don't like turkey. I am also glad that I came from an italian family because they always made some kind of pasta, whether it was ravioli or manicotti. So I would always eat that. But I did eat the surfing because it was like no other stuffing you have ever had. I also had some artichokes. I like those also. And stuffed mushrooms. They always made other food in addition to the turkey. So, I still enjoyed my thanks giving just without turkey.

I have never had any stuffing. My mom didn't like turkey so she would make a roast of chicken and make the stuffing separately.I never would eat it. Now that she is gone I have pizza or KFC .

I would like it if my family would have made at least a oven stuffer chicken opposed to turkey. But like I said, there other things to eat. I would never have pizza on a holiday and especially not KFC. I am not a fan. I was turned off to that years ago and I will not get into it, you wouldn't want to know. But like I said before, because I come from a traditional italian family, they have always made tons of food on every holiday.

I'm looking forward to a turkey this year. I'm tired of having chicken do the turkey is niches welcome especially since I don't need to cook it. I don't like all the fixings but some for sure. Sweet potatoes please and some stuffing that's it for me next to a turkey.

Thanksgiving and Christmas is usually the only two family cooked meals for me a year! I look forwards towards the turkey, trimmings, ham, and the desserts! My neice Randi is a vegatarian and she eats these meatless vegy patties instead of the turkey! Everyone is dfferent!

We never have a full turkey!
It just goes to waste after a few days. In past years I just order turkey dinners from a popular restaurant. It would cost me the same, but without the waste. These past few years we've been invited to friends. They have the full size turkey and I think the reason they invite people over is to make sure that all of the bird gets consumed.
I think I would love KFC as an alternative too!

I am someone who loves Turkey and all the trimmings. However, I have no family and only some casual friends. I am usually alone on Thanksgiving but that does not stop me from celebrating. i live next door to a wonderful organics supermarket and usually buy from their prepared or take out foods. The food is great.

You don't cook either? I used to say I Can't cook but since I live on the Food Network and The Cooking Channel , i now say I don't cook! I'm glad you can order what you like. Can you keep Kosher? I should talk , I am only truly Kosher 9 days out of the year.1 person likes this

I can cook but don't for Thanksgiving. It is only going to be me. It is much easier to buy prepared foods from the wonderful organic supermarket next door to me. The food is great. I only buy what I need and maybe a little more. It is cheaper and better. And a lot less work.
No, I don't keep kosher. I am reformed. But I do not bring pig or shellfish into the home. I eat it out.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Some of the prepared foods are already packaged but I can go to the Chef's Counter and order whatever amount I want. I do not cook. Any leftovers, I eat them the next day just like everyone else or freeze then for a later time.

Personally, I love turkey. The nice thing about Canadian Thanksgiving (October) is that there is a nice little restaurant here in town that serves Thanksgiving dinner, so there is no cooking, no cleanup, we just have to pay for it. LOL
However, on American Thanksgiving (Hubby's American) we don't have anything like that around here, so we order festive specials from Swiss Chalet. They are pretty much the same food, but with a chicken leg, instead of turkey.

Actually last year I was in the US for the Thanksgiving. I was trying to find out why there is a Turkey meal for Thanksgiving. I could not get a convincing answer for it. Any idea why there is a Turkey meal for Thanksgiving?
Cheers!

I love to have turkey with all the trimmings and extra stuff. However, my husband doens't care for turkey because its to dry for him. So at Thanksgiving we always cook a honey glazed ham. It's definatly easy for me to make (thank God since Im not a good cook) and everyone in the house loves it. Afterwards, if we have left overs we will make a ham salad, just like chicken salad, and eat it on sandwiches for a few days.
