Reading Through the Bible in 2012

Have you ever read through the Bible? Did you go from Genesis to Revelation or did you use the chronological Bible? Or how about a few OT chapters plus one NT chapter? How did you schedule it and did you have friends who joined you on this quest? I'm attempting this for the second time. I almost did it a couple of years ago. In any case, if you would like to join me just let me know. It's always great to have accountability, not to mention encouragement to stay the course.

yes I did twice, the first time I was 12 years old and I read a chapter a night, I can't remember how old I was when it did it the second time.

I've read straight through it several times, but I usually just read straight through the New Testament then read books of the Old Testament as they come up in my mind or when something in the NT brings it up. Or sometimes just because I want to.
Right now, I'm reading it straight through again and have read to Psalms. That book is going to take awhile but that's okay.

I love the Psalms though. It's kind of the book I look forward to when I'm reading through the Bible. A nice break from all those laws (though a good thing) and whatnot. I am trying to appreciate the history more now.

Hi again..
I have read the Bible a few times, but in 2010 I decided to read, or actually listen to it at least once a year. So this will be the third year..
Last year I listened to some books twice to remember better. There is so much to learn! And I also read - at this time the last books of the Bible.
I have downloaded it from jw.org and it helps to listen to the good readers to remember better (I hope)

Yes, applying what we learn to our life every day! On the same site I download the Bible is a lot of literature and even dramas that will help us with that and with understanding what the Bible really teaches.
Happy reading and listening my friend..

About that. I didn't say that I absorbed that much and don't test me on the names or who begat who! LOL. I wanted to impress her and I had to do it before I saw the the following week. Reading is easy - understanding takes more time. I wasn't on a religious crusade, just adding an accomplishment to my quota!

I honestly don't know how many times I've read through the Bible in its entirety. It's just a constant. There have been times when I was more intentional about it, and times when it just happened due to continued study. I enjoy it.
I see that this discussion was posted some months ago. How has your goal gone for you?

Wow, that's pretty cool. Sounds like you're way ahead of me. I plan to be more intentional about reading through it. I'm actually sort of still on schedule. I'm reading every day but I think I've fallen a tad bit behind. I'll catch up soon enough. Thanks for dropping by, my friend.

My wife and I are getting ready to start reading through it together, as a discussion / study together. We're looking forward to this as it should be a lot of fun.

It's an awesome thing to study it for ourselves. If you wanna join us on facebook. I've started a "Reading Through the Bible" group over there. It's just a thought.

There is actually a book out there called "Reading the Bible in 1 year" or something like that - me and my boss were actually talking about this the other day for some reason. I don't know if I want to read the bible, or if I even could if I tried. I know there are some interesting stories in there, but I don't know if I have the patience or enough Advil to try to read that tiney-tiny text!

That's too funny ... I mean about the tiney-teeny text. You know you can read it online and blow up the text. Or they actually have the Bible in large print. And yeah, I've heard about the one-year Bible. It actually keeps you on tract. Anyhow, even if you don't try to read through the whole book maybe you can attempt to read the books of the Bible that interest you. Just sayin'.
