Truth, truth and a small helping of even more truth.

I read something some years back that stopped me dead in my tracks. It went something like this: a lie will turn into a murder. I took it as meaning that if you allow yourself to do something bad once, you will allow yourself to continue to progress until you have found yourself unable to take it back. If a person tells themself something long enough and often enough, they will believe it. Or if someone believes what someone says and continues to live it, whether good or bad, it will be hard to take the person away from it. Please, is it just me or am I in a small group of people who is not afraid to shuck my beliefs and start anew with fresh eyes. Are there others out there who know they have been lied to their whole lives and followed others like blind sheep. Who broke out and studied on their own instead of running from (GOD)? Who knew that there was truth out there, and didn't give up? Please, tell me how you did it. It took me 5 years to turn my beliefs into what they are today after finding out that most of what I knew about (GOD) was never true, or even in the BIBLE. May YAHVAH (GOD) bless you while you seek the truth.

Where religion is concerned, one better keep their eyes wide open. People who recite holy books aren't necessarily liars. They recite what they believe is the truth. Of course, there will be lessons for them to learn around this. God wants His children to THINK AND QUESTION rather than simply accept and follow blindly. In this time based causal universe, God's actions can be seen. Everything about God will add up. If you say everything about religion adds up, I question whether you are thinking at all. You are right CODYMAC. It should always be about Truth rather than mere beliefs.

Exactly. We need to keep our eyes open. We need to be like the Bereans, and not take anything we hear at face value. We need to study to see if what is being taught is correct. Is that how you came to believe what you believe, bird123? Did you have one of those moments when you said to yourself,"this isn't right", or something of the sort?

How I did it? It was a rather complicated circumstance, but basically I had a disagreement with the church leaders and left that particular church. I kept searching for one where I "felt comfortable" and couldn't find it. At the same time, I started reading the Bible more and kept coming across these verses that were attached to other verses in such a way that they didn't mean what I'd been taught they meant! In other words, much of what I'd been taught had been taken out of context. I became an intentional and intent Bible scholar for awhile and God showed me many things I didn't know. Five years? I'm still learning and that was almost 20 years ago. What I do know for sure is that Jesus is my Rock. I depend on Him for everything.

CODYMAC, I said it that way because I am not sure at what point I could say I was past most of it. I still find things now and then that the Holy Spirit shows me I have been seeing it or hearing it wrong. I'm glad to see you posting in this category.

Thank you for your comment peavey. I am always learning, and that will never stop. I simply meant that it took me 5 years to get past most of the lies I was told to be where I am today. I value your honesty. It is nice to see that others have overcome. :)

There is Truth, and there is Faith but in religion Faith trumps Truth every time. Religion was invented by greedy men who saw an opportunity to become Rich and Powerful. The Pope is the richest most powerful man who has ever walked on earth. He has opportunities every day to make the world a better place, but instead he covers for the Child Molesters in the Christian Hierarchy.

I am not a religious man, rather a man with stronger beliefs because I found the truth about the lies I was told. You state that faith trumps truth every time, and to some extent I agree. Yet, a the same time I do not agree. If you have been told a lie your whole life and you had faith that it was as you know it, then later in life you find that you were wrong, truth would trump faith. You would be a better person for it, and now your faith could be whole. Trust me when I say that I do not know the tenth of the mysteries of YAHVAH (GOD), and I will never claim to. I just think that following something blindly (not saying that you are, just making a general statement) without investigating to see if it was true is somewhat irresponsible. Thank you for your response barehugs. :)

Very interesting Codymac, however there is more to a lie turning into murder. If you lie about someone, it is like taking a piece of them and killing it. If you do this all the time, then you slowly "Murder" folks. Your statement comes from the Jewish Talmud. In reference to gossip... I did like your thoughts on lies. I spent almost 40 years struggling with what was "true and what was a lie." I now and comfortable in my reality of the truth.

I have not been on Mylot for a while...Thank you for the best response! It is interesting how many times christians quote the Talmud without even knowing they are. So many folks denigrate the Talmud, saying that it is an evil work of words, when all it actually is is an indepth interpretation of the Torah. As a christian, you should always bare in mind that your christ figure was in fact a Jew...he followed the Torah and thus his teachings were in fact Jewish. The Torah was a "Gift" from HaShem to all who are willing to accept its truths. Shalom~Adoniah

Out of the Talmud. How awsome. I read it in a christian halfway house in Idaho Falls, where I was staying and volunteering. It hit me hard, and I am glad to know its origin. It is interesting to see that the meaning is somewhat similar to what Yashua (Jesus) said to his followers. I have done extensive studies with Jewish folk, and value their knowledge. Thank you Adoniah and may YAHVAH bless you. :)
