Do You Use A Webcam?

I'm thinking of buying a webcam because my laptop is about 4 years old now and doesn't have one. I never wanted one before, but now I'm going away fro college and want to keep in touch with my family that way. Do you use a webcam? Anybody have any good suggestions for an inexpensive webcam with good image/video quality that I can attach to the top of my laptop screen??

I bought one a few years back for my desktop. I live about 1,000 miles away from my family and ive used it to keep in touch with family.Ive also used it to take pic to share online. Saves a few minutes over the of downloading from the digital camera. Im glad i bought it.

If you get one i think you will be glad you did. I remember when my sister and i was kids watching the cartoon "the Jetsons" we imagined that telephones of the future would be like they were on that cartoon. When you think of it the computer has done that.

I know. How scary is that. The Jetsons was just a cartoon, but it's almost become a reality! How technology has advanced, my goodness!

That's exactly why I want the webcam too. Mostly to chat with family because I won't see them while I'm away at school.

No, I don't have one...because I never doing chat online and private discussion, and just spending useless time. If you want buy good stuff, You can search on ebay with full description about it, and you can compare with other stuff

I see why you don't want one. I decided I might not buy one anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have a webcam but I almost don't use it. As I am not interested in having a chat with a webcam. At least I can't do whatever I like when I am chatting. I have to focus on the webcam and make sure I look nice:) I don't feel very comfortable to it. So I just prefer to have a audio chat. But today the webcam is not expensive. You can buy one whenever you need it. It is still for you to contact with your family with video chat. I love China

I do see your point. I'd have to make sure I'm all showered and dressed with makeup on before I chat with anyone on that thing. It's like preparing to go out of the house! I'll have to go and find one, but I'm not quite sure what kind of webcam to buy.

yeah i use my webcam. i have a netbook so it is built into the computer. your best bet for getting a good deal on a webcam would just be to buy a new computer with a webcam built in. netbooks are pretty cheap.

I do have a laptop already, but if I didn't, I would totally get a webcam. My laptop is just 4 years old and doesn't have a webcam built in like most laptops now!

I have thought of getting a web cam not to long ago. I looked into what they cost and was surprised they don't cost alot. Aleast the least fancey ones don't! After a few days I decided I don't really need one. At least at this time.

I guess I don't really need one either. I mean, I'm not THAT far away from home. I can go home on the weekends if I wanted...

Hi Stephanie Ann C: In my country you can find a good Web Cam from $15 dollars which is an affordable price and it has good quality. I have a web cam right now but I admit that I don't use it frequently because it makes me feel uncomfortable and in case I have to do it I just use it with my close friends and family. ALVARO

Wow! $15 dollars! That's not too bad! Most of the ones here range around $25.

I see what you mean. I honestly don't do it either, but I would love to see my family while I'm away, you know? And it's the easiest way to do so.

I have in the past...well I still have one for my computer upstairs that needs repairs right now....but I bought a new laptop for myself for Christmas.....I had a cheap one first and everyone complained that it was so fuzzy so don't got and get a really cheap one. The kids gave me my second one which was way higher quality....that works good but off hand I can't think of the name of it.

I don't usually use a webcam, but yes, when I am travelling I would have it on. That is a very good way to be communicating with my family. We miss one another so much when one of us is travelling out-of-town. The webcam keeps us together just like staying at home.

That's exactly why I want one as well. Since I'll be away at college, I want to see the family and talk with them and stuff. Of course we'll miss each other!

My laptop has a built in webcam. I have only used it a few times though to Skype with my daughter when she was out of state visiting my sister. I don't see myself using it very much on a regular basis though. I know my kids old babysitter had a Logictech one that she set up on my computer. She seemed to like it ok.

I was actually looking at a Logitech one to buy and clip on to my laptop. I mean, I don't plan on using it a lot, just like you, but since I'm away at college, it might be a good idea to have one.
