I saw something on TV earlier today that said that this year will mark the beginning of the end of American Idol. What do you think? Do you still enjoy the show? Will you continue to watch it? Did you never like it in the first place? What is your take on American Idol?

I did enjoy it very much but then things change don't they. I think finding the average person with talent and then giving that person a shot at fame is not going to work as well now that we have been there, done it. There are a lot of shows doing the same thing. It happens but was not the x factor from the Brit's first up with the idea? Maybe it is time for some totally new idea so it doesn't go too stale.

Maybe but I still love it. I watch all of the singing competition shows and love every one of them. Perhaps that is because I am a singer myself and other than singing at weddings and competing in high school and college I never took it anywhere. Maybe I see what I could have been. Now with the X-Factor I actually have a chance since there is no age limit. I am kind of chicken now as I don't sing in public very often any more.

I had a friend try out. She said it was fun but did not get past the first try out. You need to pick a song you think you can do and not be nervous. How to impress without any sour notes, certainly is not easy. You see some funny ones on youtube and there are those people that are just doing it for fun you can tell. American's got talent is another show I've watched.

I like American Idol and I will continue to watch it not only because of the contestants but the judges mostly whom I really admire. I don't think it is dying yet, must be a comment coming from a competitor in the industry. This is not the first time that it has been said that American Idol is dying. It is still getting the ratings so I think we are still going to see American Idol 12.

I just started watching it so I hope it lasts. I watched it when it first came out and did not care for it. I could not stand Simon and how mean he could be. I always felt bad for the ones that had the guts to at least try. You can tell the truth in a way that does not ridicule and make a mockery of them publicly. From what I've seen, the judges they have now tell it like it is without being so cruel.

Their ratings for the premier were the lowest they've been since the first season. I personally take each season as it comes, a whole new cast of characters, a whole new show. If I like the talent, especially if I get really attached to one of the contestants, I watch. Last season, I didn't see anyone I really liked so I lost interest somewhere around the top 12, might have watched long enough to see the top 10. Of course last year's winner has a platinum selling album, which doesn't happen very often anymore. Maybe country music fans still buy more CDs than downloads. But I think they'll have to recruit another singer on par with Chris Daughtry or Adam Lambert (who I don't like, personally, but no one can deny he's wildly successful) or Carrie Underwood to keep people interested.

Yeah, i dont think its still a good show to watch anymore... They should hire more credible jugdes like Simon! I dont like it when the judges now has their own favorites it influences the people's votes!

I think American Idol has reached its 'best before date'. And although J-Lo and Steven Tyler keep the faithful watching, they've been loosing more and more audience over the years.
I personally think it's a byproduct of how 'unsuccessful' most of the winners are. Some of them are never heard of after they win.

I haven't watched American Idol since the first season. I don't know why, but it never really appealed to me. I think it was because the judges annoyed me. There are so many shows on that are like American Idol, that I can see it ending soon. I think people may be tiring of it. I don't hear people talking about it as much as before.

I used to really like this show in the beginning, never missed a episode. After a few seasons, I don't know if my taste changed, but now I don't watch American Idol with that much frequency. I prefer criminal series now. But, I don't think this year means the beginning of the end of this show, is too big and I think they still have many years.

I still really enjoy this show so I hope it was wrong. My daughter and I watch it every time it comes on. Maybe I like it so much because I love to sing and I wish I could get the courage to go on there. I don't know but I hope the show will stay for a while longer. I for one don't like a lot of changes with any show. I like it the way it is so when it changes it upsets me. So it doesn't bother me that it is the same thing as always, I like it the way it is! It was hard enough getting used to Simon not being there, I don't want anymore changes...
