Is Medical Marijuana The Answer?

For many of us here, there are a lot of us who suffer from some form of Chronic pain. Many of us to the point where it is daily and some days really hard to move, and we would rather disappear or be alone. Then there are days where it is tolerable and life is Good, and everything always seems OK. Many of us have tried many prescription drugs, or are taking some right now. Maybe we are constantly have to switch them looking for that something that will really seem to help us out the most. But I wonder why anyone ever decided "Hey, let's give them Medical Marijuana and make some extra money from it, and call it legal." I always wondered where and how a once illegal substance that could put you in Jail became legal, and even give you permission to grow it as a plant. Even if you are not using it yourself? There is a woman who has unfortunately been staying at our house, and will be moving on the first of the month who brags she gets her Medical Marijuana for Free and the person grows it in their house. She has a medical card, but I thought you had to get it from a dispensary and pay at least $30-$60 for it. Just amazes me what my Tax dollars pay for, especially when they could care less if I as a Diabetic have to pay out money for my insulin, strips, syringes, or medical supplies for my wound upkeep not caring where my next meal comes from. Makes me wonder how america really allowed this to become so wrong? Personally I have never been against giving people help, but when it is a hand out, and everyone else has to suffer than I wonder what next? Am I the only one who feels this, or is this just the next way of thinking for us all? ~~TINA~~

This is one of those subjects that gets me riled up. But I wanted to at least let you know I read your discussion. And if I could write more without raising my blood pressure, I would.

I am growing numb to the dealings of assistance in this country. I have come to believe that we are all ultimately responsible for our own well-being, Those who use the system to get over are gaining more rights everyday it seems and others trying to live according to the law are picking up the slack for those who are living off the system. Some people need help, others do not. I do not mind helping those who need it but take issue with helping those who are just taking advantage of what is available for those in need. The few always seem to mess up the program for the many just like a bad apple in a barrel.

Yes, with all my Health problems that I have, I am better off working that getting Disability as my Medical I have thru my job is better, and I owe less on prescriptions, etc. because of it. But to think most of the people out there getting help are just lazy, or had a child that usually is not getting cared for properly, or from another country instead of those with Severe medical issues needing help. It is sad and wish somehow this could change.

I knew a woman years ago with a lot of physical problems, one of them HIV she got from her husband. She took THC pills which contained the chemicals in pot that relieve pain but don't get you high so she could function and take care of her kids. I wonder why people don't take THC pills instead of smoking and getting high? It would relieve pain and stress while allowing them to have a clear head. Unless someone is destitute and nothing else works for them, I don't want my tax dollars paying for pot.

That is so True. Why are not the Governors and President making the Doctors look at other options instead of allowing our Tax dollars to be used for Pot? Seriously I agree there should be other ways to help besides allowing this. From what I have seen around here, most of the time a lot of the people using it as an excuse usually are ones just too lazy to go get a Real job and make something more of themselves.

Hello my friend I am not sure if it is really prohibited in America. I don't really understand, sometimes I saw police officers arresting someone from using it and there were times also that I saw even high profile Americans using it. Is this weed really prohibited in your place or there are places that prohibit and there are not. Mobhomeir here 053012 2028hrs

Personally this is still a Political issue as most places here in America it is not allowed, and they can fine and jail you for it. I personally wish that it was that way too, or if made available then only certain places could grow it and sell it like it is meant to be. Because you can't go to a local friend and tell them you need to buy some Insulin or most pain pills so why this?

The pain is there.. but it's registered by the brains so I don't think this is a solution on long term. I read an article lately about how it might be possible to stop a part of your brain that is registering the pain (each part of the brain is connected to a certain part of your body). It works for people with a trauma and they also helped out people with a phantome pain. People who suffered for years with that. If you have a lot of pain at a certain point your brains keep thinking you have it, no matter if you have or if it's lesser or more. So you have to get that part of your brain out of it's automatic position. If for example that part of brain is on the right you have to stimulate the left part (you do this by concentrating on the pain and moving your eyes to the left and right.. how exactly you have to do it I don't know) and visa versa. I think it's worth trying it.

It is a hard one. I personally think there are other options out there that are safer....but like I said it is a tough decision to make.
