Hubby is 76 today and we are so happy to be able to celebrate with him this year. His short term memory is going fast and we don't know how much longer he will be able to enjoy these times. I know that many families face this situation with their loved ones and it's scary but we will all do the best we can to make his life as happy as we can. Blessings to all who face this challenge.

This is not a challenge that I've been going through during the recent years of my life, but it is a challenge that I've been through in my life during the last years of my grandmother's life six-seven years ago. She lived with us during the last months of her life and it was quite difficult for us, but with the patience of Job we were able to get through it and those months that I was able to spend with here allowed me to be closer to her than I had ever been in my entire life.

I hope you have many more days to celebrate. I read an alternative health item recently that talked about adding coconut oil to the diet and that it helped with some of the memory loss and some other neurological problems. Is you daughter still with you, or did her back finally get all better?

Hi savypat, That is sad, but it does happen to many people. Enjoy every day now and hope that it doesn't come on too fast. For the sake of both of you,I hope that he has more good days than bad ones. I saw this happen with one of my brothers, and it was difficult. Blessings my friend.

A happy birthday to Mr. Savypat! We just have to enjoy what we have for as long as we can. I hate to see people's minds whittled away, it's so cruel. I hope he has many more years to enjoy his memories.

That is all you can do savypat. It is scary when you see something happening and there is nothing that you can do but wait and see. They have made great breakthroughs in thos area but still no cures or prevention really. I hope to see some relief in the future for families. Take care.

Just do what you are doing. The only thing I can suggest is take him to places he used to love. I really do not know how stuff like that works. I think if I was in that situation I would want to go where I had good times at. It can't hurt right. I wish you guys the best of luck.

"What will be will be" and "Then have no care for tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Take the trouble of the day as it comes." (Matthew 6:34). Yes I know it's hard to live by these words but it somehow eases my anxiety over things that are forth coming so best of luck to you and your family
