Our new neighbor downstairs got himself a little Pit Bull Puppy, He barked at me the other day when they were outside and I told the puppy "Ain't you cute", now the puppy barked at me not the owner Now for the last couple of days I can hear the dog just barking, growling and sounding like a demon dog. I don't know if the pup is mad cause he might be left alone all day or the owner is there and trying to get him mad so he'll grow up to be a mean dog. I ran into 4 Pit Bulls in the last couple of years ...1 of them ran at me and scared me half to death and the others just kinda walked along with me "No owner in sight". Are you scared of Pitts?

Cane Corso - One of the Cane Corso's at work.
I wouldn't say I'm scared of Pit Bulls. But then again if I had one running towards me like it was going to attack, I'd be terrified! If there is any dog that scares me it has to be the Cane Corso! Those dogs are so massive and look like demons to me. However, the ones I've met (I've only met a few so far) are really sweet. Scary looking, but sweet. By the way, I sure hope you're neighbor isn't trying to make a bad dog out of his pup. Pits have such a bad reputation as it is...

hi Missybear, eeeekkkkk, BARK MACHINES, and pit bulls double eeeeeek...... I am scared of dogs anyways. In my hometown, when one of the tenants had a Rottweiler I made sure the Rottie wasnt in the backyard when I wanted to take the garbage to the garbage cans in the back yard...... and that inspitel of the fact Fuzzy the dog was a silent nice one.

hi Missybear have been bitten once by a very tiny bark machine I didnt even do anything to and the owner just smirked. Luckily that tiny one only got my trousers not my leg but the worst was yet to come I got yelled at at home instead of sympathy and help.

Hi Missy, I'm not usually afraid of dogs. I love dogs. Pitbulls? Well, my daughter got one a while back and she has a little 16 month old son so yes...I did get concerned. I've done a lot of research regarding these dogs since. They can be wonderful pets. They are very hyper dogs and they need a lot of exercise and attention. The scary thing about them is that IF they bite, they are going to do more damage than another dog would. They have powerful jaws that lock up when they bite. So much of whether or not they are violent does depend upon upbringing.

The locking of the jar is my main concern, otherwise I'm fine with the breed

I am scared of Pitts that don't know me...they are quite territorial from my experiences and of Pitts that have not been properly cared for and trained. They are not dogs to be played rough with and they can not be ignored and be expected to not give in to their instincts. These can be great dogs but they call for a lot of attention and training. My daughter's b/f got a beautiful female that I am pretty worried about. She is a puppy now but she needs to be made part of a pack with a sense of who is running things. Not in a mean way..but just part of the family more I think.

I hope they train her to be a loving caring dog which I'm sure they will.

I love dogs and dogs love me! There have been very few dogs I have been afraid of! Pit Bulls get abad rap because of dog fighting! They are trained to fight by us humans!!! They are otherwise they are not mean dogs!! I know of two Pit Bull/Boxers crosses. They are friendly and playful! I just hope that puppy, you mentioned, is not being trained to be mean!! That is so wrong and if you feel the puppy is being abused call the humane society or animal control! That puppy deserves a loving owner not a mean owner!

Clearly your new neighbor is not spending enough time training his new puppy I have owned and raised pit bulls and they are no different than any other breed of dog it sickens me to hear people talk badly about this breed its not the breeds fault that alot of humans are stupid and cant treat dogs with the respect they deserve.

You right it has mostly to do with the way they are raised but I do believe some breeds are more mean than others

I am scared of abused and neglected dogs. Dogs that take way too much interest in me are scary as well. I hope that they are not trying to make the puppy mean.

Me too, I'm afraid they put him on the balcony and when he gets bigger he'll jump over

Yes I'm scared of Pitts and Rots as well. I really don't see a need for anyone to have this type of dog. Dogs with bad reputations do not belong loose let alone with an owner who has ill intentions to cause harm with it.

I agree, most of the time it's the owner who's making the dog mean and bad but I think certain breeds like pits have a natural mean streak in them
