I went to the doctor for a foot pain. He said it is tendinitous. I have to wear orthodics and take anti inflamatories. I've been on it a week, and still cannot walk. Anyone out here that has had this? Can you tell me what to do for this pain and how long it lasts? Thank you.

How long have you been wearing the orthotics? Did you break them in or just wear them all the time? If you wore them all the time you didn't give your feet a chance to adjust. This can cause more pain to your feet by not breaking them in first.
Are the orthotics custom made or off the shelf type?
Have you received any injections of cortisone? That is often a treatment that the doctor will do and it can ease the inflamation dramtically.

I wear orthodics. The were custome fit for the past 5 years. The doctor told me it was tendinitis. It is so painful, I cannot walk. He had me on anti flams, and all the swelling went down, but it is still very painful. I am trying the crutches now, as I am to stay off it. I don't know how It will ever get better. It's been 9 months. Thanks for your interest and input. He didn't say a thing about cortisone to me.

I actually went for a short walk yesterday, but wish I hadn't of as I am suffering today, I can relate to your problem. One thing I use is a polystyrene cup, add water and freeze, then cut about half an inch from the top, and in circular motions on the area for about a minute, no more!

That can really help? The doctor didn't say a thing about that. Just stay off my foot, and when I walk, wear a heal and the orthodics and take the anti inflams. Well it is 2 weeks, the swelling is down, but the problem still exists with a lot of pain. So, you think that the polystyrene cup frozen can really help? This has been going on for 9 months. Thank you for your advise.

It will take awhile for this to heal, but since you're on the anti-inflammatories, it will. Stay off of it as much as possible to give it a chance to heal. You can put ice on it for swelling. And you might try and elastic bandage to see if that gives you enough support to walk if you need to. And whatever you did to inflame those tendons, don't do it any more.

I do have it bandaged tightly, and am wearing the orthodics and healed shoe as the doctor said. But, I still cannot walk barefoot. I do not know what I did to it. My arches have fallen so much, that I walk almost on my inside ankles. I think this started 9 months ago when walking, my arches hurt, and it just kept getting worse until it was swollen and I could not even turn my ankle. But, now it is two weeks, and I still cannot walk. Thank you for resonding and trying to help me.
