|  Do you say this in response to someone when you do not like what they are doing or saying? Do you find this word offensive?
I learned when I was in the military, that the word "Whatever" was found offensive and I didn't even know it!
But since learning and taking a deeper look, I too find it offensive and teach my children that it is not to be used unless it is used as a proper word in a proper sentence.
Example of proper way: Do you want a chocolate chip cookie or a oatmeal raisin cookie? Response...I will take whatever you have, I like them both.
Example of offensive: Please don't do that. Response...You know, WHATEVER! (As the person walks away.)

| |  it depends how you phrase the word for it to be offesive...like "what do you want to do? i dont know whatever..." thats not offesive but when critisizing someone or you pointing something out to them they say "whatever" when you say whatever the rude way your politely telling them to go f themself...

| |  i don't use the word whatever. my boyfriend will say whatever when he knows i am right about something, and he can't come up with anything to say back. it's like i prove him wrong about something, and instead of saying, yeah, you're right, he just says whatever. it is kind of a smart-alec answer.

| |  I do find that I use that word a lot...mainly when I am mad at my boyfriend..and I just can't take talking to him anymore...or it is a reply to something he has said..that I feel is wrong....but I never thought of it as an offensive word?

| |  I never thought of it as offensive either. I use it a lot actually. I use it on my kids when they won't stop arguing about something. I use it on my husband when I'm sick of arguing with him. I grew up in the 80's. That was a staple! I'm sorry people find this word so repulsive, but Whatever!
