Tell Tale Heart is one of my favorites along the Raven.

'The Tell-Tale Heart' is probably one of, if not the, best story from the genius mind of this deeply troubled author. 'The Cask of Amontillado' (short story), 'For Anne' and 'The Raven' (both poems) are also great works that should be read by everybody!

I liked the pit and the pendulum. the Raven, there was one about being walled up, but I don't remember it. Poe was a strange man... sort of like Stephen King of today. I like Stephen King.

Poe was very dark, indeed.

The 'Tell-Tale Heart' and 'The Purloined Letter' are my favorites. Both stories make my hair stand on end!

I actually got to read his poems and stories though they are not my cup of tea because I find most of them gloomy and dark. I like best his poem 'Annael Lee' because it talks of his love though again it's a sad poem with his love ending up dead and his comedy 'Never Bet The Devil with Your Head'.

I read his books when I was a student. But frankly speaking if I could choose whether to read him or not, I wouldn't. I admit, he's a very good writer, his descriptions are so vivid and specific, but the plots of his stories are so awful (perhaps I'm a too sensible person) that I could hardly read till the end.

I also have Poe's complete works. I've had them since I believe it was my senior year in high school, so that would be almost 40 years. Tell-Tale Heart is one of my favorites, as well. I love the melodic names of the heroines in his poetry, "Lenore" "Annabelle Lee" and such. He was a dark but interesting man and his literature certainly reflected that.

The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket is my favorite novel by Edgar Allan Poe. This book has it all a shipwreck, mutiny, cannibalism and a seagull pecking the flesh off of a corpse. It's all good.
