Recycling Aluminum Cans

Does anyone out there besides my family recycle aluminum cans? This is something my family and I have done for a number of years. We drink a lot of soft drinks and then we save the aluminum cans to be recycled for extra spending money. My husband waits until we get about two or three big garbage bags full and then he loads them up to take to the recycling center. Depending on the value they are offering at the time we have received as much as $30 for the cans. Hey, at least it will put some gas in your vehicle. Have a wonderful day!

Dear SheliaLee, Thank you for the best response vote! I really love these discussions on recycling and doing things to help the environment. I hope to put something more in soon. Again, thanks!

You are very welcome. Again, I hope you are able to find a job soon. That is something that really is a sensitive area for my husband and myself. We have gone through at least two periods in our marriage where he didn't have a job and it wasn't because he wasn't trying to find it, there was just none around our area. But thankfully in 1991 he was able to get a job with the U.S. Postal Service and I work at home as a medical transcriptionist so we are very blessed indeed. God Bless You in all that you do!!

We recycle our cans, but they go into the city barrel we are given. So we don't get money from it, but they're still recycled.

That is good that your city benefits from the recycling, however, it would be good if they would give you as residents some type of pay per pound. It would probably be a bigger incentive for people to recycle more.

We are a Big believer in recycling Cans. The problem is finding a place that pays much. But we always have Cans around that we are collecting, and turn them in about 2-3 times a yr. or so. At least it usually helps in like a meal at McDonalds or something like this which is always nice.

I save cans even though I don't drink soft drinks that often. I collect them from friends and elsewhere and I turn them in at the various stores. Oregon pays 5 cents per can. I use this money for emergencies, laundry and gas. I am single and the income in Oregon isn't that great. I am currently out of work and seeking a new job. Thank goodness for friends that donate their cans to me. They have helped me out so many times. I also recycle glass, tin and plastic containers. One more step in taking care of Mother Earth, she provides for us in so many ways. Happy recycling!

I wish we had a place for recycling glass, tin and plastic in our community. We would recycle a whole lot of other things from our home. Bless your heart, I hope you find a job soon. That is really a growing problem all over the country.

yes our family does also and so do alot of people in minnesota alot of times the schools here collect them for use in help getting books and for school trips which makes it real nice for them and helps with the school also. We have big boxes around alot of the local bigger stores and mails to drop them off..we do sometimes just take them in ourselves but lately with school open we do help them when they are doing campaigns to collect them...

Those are great ways to help out the schools. Our public schools don't seem to get enough funding these days so every penny they can get helps. Have a great day!!
