best zombie movies |
|
when you mention zombie movies,of course you have to mention the george romero classic "dead" movies. he had to be one of the first,if not THE first to use squibs(blood packs)to great effect.i remember my mouth dropping at the movie house watching that.
then there were later movies like the fog(pirate/ghost zombies) night of the comet, both kind of slow in places..
then they started getting violent again with re-animator,resident evil and 28 days later.
28 days was technically virus zombies, but i've got to admit fast zombies were more scary than the traditional slow ones.
what was your favorite, past or present?

1. inked4life (3357) | 3 years ago | I love zombie movies...the gorier the better. For me, the standard was set by Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" with the now infamous eye piercing scene. George Romeros zombie flicks were great and modern day the best one has to be "Shaun Of The Dead", a great combination of horror and comedy.

2. twilight021 (1621) | 3 years ago | Actually I think my favorite zombie movie is one that pay homage to all the great Zombie movies of the past, "Shaun of the Dead". This movie references many classic Zombie films, and if you are a big fan, you will see tons of little in-jokes. IMDB, can also help point some of those out for you...I know I only noticed a few. And like many of the Romero zombie movies it also has a bit of social commentary. I thought it was hilarious that it took Shaun so long to notice the zombie invasion...but it's because so many of us go through our lives like zombies already. One of the taglines for htis movie was "A Romantic Comedy. With Zombies". After I saw the movie in the theater i was in the bathroom, and two girls were commenting on how gross they thought the zombies were. They said "I knew it was a zombie movie, but I just didn't expect there to be so many zombies." I had a good chuckle at that:-)

Ravenladyj (17909) | 3 years ago | LOL are you serious? "I knew it was a zombie movie but I didnt expect actual zombies...why cant they just TALK about them and not actually show any...ew gross...lets leave and get our nails done instead" LOL thats how I visualize ppl like that in my head...too funny..some ppl are just a trip

twilight021 (1621) | 3 years ago | Actually that's pretty much exactly what it was like. I think I washed my hand for about 10 minutes just so I could keep listening in on that conversation! It was too much!

|
DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Unfortunately, the best zombie game on the market (at least it was last year) is Land of the Dead: The Road to Fiddlers Green. But it's still had so many goofs and bugs. To have some fun with it you should update from www.undeadgames.com . I haven't played PC games in a long time, but I think there are some new better games now on the market, you should check that site, maybe there's more;).

5. freak369 (3482) | 3 years ago | Personally, I will take the slow dumb zombies over the fast ones that were in 28 Days Later any day. When zombies start to learn how to unlock doors and throw thins through windows, they become a bit too smart for me lol. The ones in Shaun of the Dead were awesome. Loved the one in the backyard!
| |
| |
|
|
scarlet_woman (8756) | 3 years ago | oh,how about the "king" zombie in the last dead movie? i was wondering when that would happen-it has to mutate sometime.
the fast zombies i admit startled me.i didn't expect them to run at all LOL it makes sense fresh ones might still be able to run though.
| |
|
|
DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Well, in Romero's vision, they can never walk. Yes, the fresh one could move faster than the more rotten ones, but as the Sheriff in Night of the Living Dead said: "Yeah, they're dead. They're all messed up."
| |
|
|
DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Correction -> "they can never run" (Sorry, I'm very tired)

6. shopgirl (2920) | 3 years ago | Here is a zombie movie you may never have heard of but it is quite interesting.
Tombs of the Blind Dead is one of the early Spanish answers to George Romero's Night of the Living Dead. It has a brilliant twist, because the dead hunt the living by sound rather then sight. And the sight of the zombies on horseback is an extraordinary treat for fans of zombie films, it's creepy yet charming all at once.
In the middle ages, a satanic cult of knights, known as the Knights Templar, ravaged the countryside with their black rituals. They ventured to the Far East and brought back ancient secrets, thriving for years as they terrorized and dominated their region. They abducted young women and used them for their evil means, torturing them and sucking their blood. Finally, they were brought to justice, hung on the village trees, where crows plucked out their eyes.
Of course, hundreds of years later, the ancient, crumbling monastery where they lived remains haunted. The villagers won't even speak of it, or even go near it. Suddenly, three travelers, Roger, Virginia, and Betty appear on the scene. Roger and Betty fall in love while traveling, and Virginia becomes so jealous she jumps off the train they are riding, and decides to walk to their destination. Too bad for Virginia, because she is walking right into the hands of the blind, ghostly, zombie knights on horseback, come out at night and slaughter anyone they can find.
Roger and Betty go looking for Virginia, but alas it's too late-she's dead. She's bitten to death. The evil has been awakened. Roger and Betty clash with the blind, zombie horse-riders who go on the march again, terrorizing the countryside for fresher victims.

DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | Yep, it's a great movie. I would also recommend Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" (or Zombi 2, or Island of Flesh-Eaters, or Ultimi zombi, Gli, and so on...), which is also an answer to George A Romero's "Dawn of the Dead". There are many italian zombie movies, but most of them are very poor.

7. RachelleDD (368) | 3 years ago | Oh I love horror movies...I love them all...the living dead..the undead...anything that gets a jolt out of me is a good movie..I like old ones, and newer ones...
Horror movies are getting better and a little more believable these days..and it scares you more for sure because you cant figure out the effects that created it...I like gore movies as well..like the Hostel and the Saw movies...love old Dracula movies...remember a show years ago called "cliffhangers"..would end the episode on a cliffhanger...had quite the handsome vampire in it..lol..
| |
| |
|
|
scarlet_woman (8756) | 3 years ago | OMG i remember cliffhangers..and the vampire:P there was 3 different parts from what i recall the vampire one..a western..and i forget what the third was.

8. diannebcrs (786) | 3 years ago | i, too, like george romero movies. but i'd have to say my fave zombie movie was resident evil: the apocalypse because i like the story. it's not just all blood and gore. i've always wanted to be jill valentine or any STARS member just so i can play shooting range with the zombies. they're dead anyway. i also like dawn of the dead but they were really defenseless coz they were just swarmed with a lot of zombies and they were not armed and they were no action stars.

| |
|
|
scarlet_woman (8756) | 3 years ago | oh god yea. the zombie dogs in the one resident evil are just sick.i'd hate to see that come at me.

scarlet_woman (8756) | 3 years ago | i liked the hare krishna zombie-that cracked me up. they did the right thing-i'd head right for a mall too if that happened.

DawGwath (449) | 3 years ago | That's right, nothing beats Romero's ingeniousity. He's the Godfather of zombies, and will always be.

10. Modestah (7932) | 3 years ago | I am not a fan of zombie movies. I am a wimp in that regards. i remember when we got our first VCR in the late 70s maybe very early 80s? the VHS "Night of the Living Dead" was included with the purchase. I think they put that title in all VCR boxes!*shiver* then there were those pod people in Invasion of the Body Snatchers....oh and the Stepford Wives. Reanimator oh my goodness that about did me in!
| |
| |
|
|
scarlet_woman (8756) | 3 years ago | aw man..i got bambi when i bought one..i feel ripped LOL:)
body snatchers-both versions of that were creepy. the fact that you didn't see some things in the first made it worse.
