because its about a disgusting bodily fuction that happened to me on Friday. STOP!! YOU'VE been WARNED!!! Okay, if you are still reading, I want to tell you about what happened to me on Friday. First, let me explain, that I bought a fresh, tasty sandwich for breakfast and ate that before 11 a.m. I had also gotten some sodas and was drinking them the rest of the day at work. Well, I got off at 3:30 and drove home, no problem. As I was turning onto a road near the house, I burped. FINAL WARNING!!!! STOP NOW!! THIS IS WHERE IT GETS GROSS!!! I burped up something. I really had no idea what it was. However, I was not in a place I could safely pull over either. So, I carried the stuff in my mouth until I could safely pull over the car, put it in park and open the door. I don't know exactly WHAT I spit out, looked like dark brown strings. It could've been soda "stuff" that had started digesting, it could've been something else - but I don't know what - it had been over 4 hours since I had eaten. I will say it really didn't taste bad after that first arrival in my mouth - probably because the soda is sweet, but I sure as heck wasn't going to swollow it again! So, any of you have something gross like this happen that you really had no control over, but after it happened, you could "Pick your place" to spit it out? I've thrown up in the car before, happily, I've always been at a stop light and could open the door and do it safely. How about you?

my former roomie, twice, swollowed bugs, both times in the car, both times going to church when we were fasting, and both when her mouth was flapping, talking both times she guilted about not fasting and I told her that maybe God was telling her to shut up! but since God put that bug down her throat, it obviously wasn't a sin, because she sure didn't intentionally EAT it!

well, the last time I threw up before this was when my gall bladder was going out last August, felt like I was throwing up an organ rather than just lunch.

that was just a couple of days before I went to the hospital and was admitted for the gall bladder surgery - I was very sick, and didn't want to be out of pocket because of it. I'm all better now tho, better than all better in fact, best thing to happen to me...

i always throw up in the car and now i keep a plastic bag handy so that i can spit out the contents.usually the vomiting is projectile and the driver doesnt have time to stop before i make the place dirty,so the safest is a plastic bag.

Now that's just gross! LOL I don't recall ever burping something only to have it come back up. Throwing up, yes, burping something up, no. I don't think I could have handled it like you did and I would have had to spit it out somewhere. Where? I don't know and hopefully I'll never have to find out. After what I went through last week with what my husband believed to be the stomach flu this discussion doesn't gross me out like it could have in the past. Because what we went through was just plain gross!

well, its not like I didn't warn ya the closest I could discribe it would be like reflux - talk about yukky, except that this really had very little of the burning that I get from reflux yes, I got some, but when I wake up with reflux it can be hours before I can lay down again because of the burning.

Well unfortunately, I have the unhappy habit of getting car sickness if I travel too far without being able to pull over and get out for a few minues. I can normally tell when it's coming, but occasionally it has snuck up on me. One night as we were coming home from one of my son's ball games, I started getting sick. There was no place to pull over. By the time Mike did find somewhere to get off the highway, I barely got the door open before I was upchucking. So here I am sitting on the side of the road, puking my guts out. When I see blue lights pull up behind us. The state trooper walks up and sees that I'm sick and starts talking to my husband about car scikness and other people he's met in his line of work. So I think I've finally quit and I stand up straight and the trooper is asking if I'm alright when all of a sudden I feel another wave rock my stomach and before I can step back, I have projectile vomited all over this poor state trooper's shoes! Talk about being embarrassed!

Well, I don't think burping is disgusting unless something like that happens. I've never had stuff come INTO my mouth, but up TO my mouth where I could taste the bile. I swallowed as quickly as possible to eliminate any possibility I'd gross myself out and lose what was left. Nasal mucus is pretty much the only thing that grosses me out - I can talk about anything, but I can't view everything.

NORMALLY I try to do that, but it just happened too quickly to stop it. I mean, I felt fine, before, during and AFTER it happened, but I couldn't stop it!

EEwwwww LOL The brown stringing stuff could have been a combination of the sandwich and soda as it was being digested. I don't drive but I used to get carsick alot...I'd try to hold it in till we could pull over and it usually helped if I could put the window down and have cool air on my face. I have had to vomit in a bag before b/c we couldn't get off the road. I also can't count the number of times I've been sick in a car after alot of drinking in my younger years...but that doesn't count, right? ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

How long does it take to digest food — from the time you eat it to the time you excrete it in urine or stool? Answer from Michael Picco, M.D. Digestion time varies depending on the individual. For healthy adults, it's usually between 24 and 72 hours. After you eat, it takes about six to eight hours for food to pass through your stomach and small intestine. Food then enters your large intestine (colon) for further digestion and absorption of water. Elimination of undigested food residue through the large intestine usually begins after 24 hours. Complete elimination from the body may take several days. Found this online for you. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

doesn't count for me, tho I never had that problem, once drunk was quite enough for me I get car sick in the back seat, so I avoid riding in the back, probably why I prefer to drive! I hope it wasn't the sandwich since I had eatten it 4 hours before! But, ya never know!

Ahem...SURELY you didn't mean I should answer this, ne? You've already SEEN (& cleaned up) most of my various & sundry gross events, at least for the last 2 years, & as roomies before that, I'm sure you saw more than your share! LOL! Anyway, yes, sometimes the only control I do have is to try & hold things in 'til I can reach a "safe" place to let go. Urg... Ooookaaaayyy...lunch stayed down when I wrote that, so I guess it's okay. Maggie...urp..pie

Hi Elic, Lol! I have done that many times, I remeber one christmas when my hubby and I was coming back from my sister's I had such a bad migraine and felt really ill, I knew I was going to.... and it was a good thing my neice had giving a bag just in case and lo and behold, it came in useful, after that I was ok and went to sleep all the way home. once I had a bad migraine, took some meds, and the meds started me throwing up - along with the migraine, I drove to campus to pick up the former roommate and threw up before I went out the door. Got to campus and was stopped at the light on the highway on the way home when I had to open the door and do it again. well, at that time we had a minor emergency place just on the other side of the highway and the former roomie insisted we go over there so I could get some meds that's the only way to stop me from throwing up once I start

Hmmmmm, I just wanted to asked, What did you do after eating the sand which and drinking the soda, did you move soon with out resting after you had your meal. there are instances where food goes up when you are busy doing something while in your seat. just as that moment when you were driving and some how the food simply just found way it's back to your mouth from the stomach. you should rest after having your meal so that it will digested properly.

well, it was over 4 hours from the time I ate until it happened and no, I didn't "rest" but I wasn't real active either I was cooking my client's breakfast while I was eating, not real hard work, would go in, grab a bite and stir the burger cooking on the range or put the noodles in, or start the brocolli in the microwave. After that, I didn't do a lot of hard work either and was sipping soda all afternoon. Even watched an episode of NCIS with my client. So, I wasn't real busy, but not exactly lounging around either - you know us "Americans" we don't siesta after lunch (or breakfast either.)

but still you were doing something and that's not good either. rest after you eat something or the food would go restless and come out. it happened to me too you know.

Okay you warned us but it was gross! Problem is the warnings made me more and more curious and I had to keep reading! I can't say I have experienced anything like that although I have felt something come up but nothing solid was in my mouth! My sister's friend had too much too drink and felt like being sick while his wife was driving him home so he opened the window, stuck his head out and proceeded to heave. Well this is the nasty bit, the wind blew all the vomit back inside the car covering the wife and his children sitting in the back; the car had to be professionally cleaned but he didn't have a drop on him, the culprit was spotlessly clean!

I seldom just gulp a drink, I really kind of nurse them along so I t hink I would've noticed anything "weird" in my soda. Tho, you know, that caramel color has to be "something".

Yikes. That sounds bad. Luckily I never had to be in a situation. In fact there have been very few times where I felt like puking. The most times was when I was ill and if I'm ill I make sure to take a holiday for myself. bourne

I went out for a run once in a rain storm for over 4 miles. I thought I passed gas but when I was walking down back inside the Coast Guard helicopter hanger people were looking at me a laughing. I took a showed in my sweat pants to wash out the brown streak... How's that for gross? My father's nickname for me was Stinky because I was so gassy. Stinky Steve

Well, my mum use to feel like vomiting whenever she travels in a car but it is good that she never spit in the car, she always use to tell the driver to stop it and then she spits after getting down from that vehicle.
