Hi friens! What would you do if you do not succeed after making all your efforts to accomplish a task, project, mission, goal or assignment. You know it that you worked very hard on your project and you went out of your way to achieve your goals, yet at the end of the day, you found that you didn't succeed. Will you retrospect or will you try to find out rationally, what went wrong or where did you go wrong, will you feel guilty about it or blame yourself? I'll really feel disappointed and disheartened if it happens with me. Please share your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

If that happens, there is nothing I can do. If I have already tried my best and it fails, I just have to accept it. Yes, I may feel disheartened and disappointed, but that's life. A project can fail for many reasons. It may not be because of you. Take it as a lesson learnt and move on. No point moping over it.

Hi dear! So you accept the situation assuming it to be fate accompli. Yes, we should take lessons from our failures. Thanks for sharing.

Hullo Deepak! We do make sincere efforts many times and not all occasions where we make those efforts give us the expected results.First of all I have learnt one valuable lesson that helps me maintain my peace of mind and cope with disappointments if they rise.My strategy is as follows:- Doing the work and making my effort in the right direction[focused work ] is my duty and the result is beyond me.What God has ordained would happen and I believe that if He wills it ,it would happen and if He does not will it it will not happen.[I cannot make one dime if I am not fated to get it-so while my effort is in my hands the result is not in mine.]I keep my desires simple[within my reach] so that it will not make me a discontented person. I would feel guilty if I have not made the effort in the right direction and would analyze where I went wrong , so that this can be avoided in future. There is no point blaming myself because what is done cannot be undone.I agree that I would feel terribly guilty if I have made a big mistake. I have seen ups and downs of different kinds,[financially] but God has been kind to me in every way.So, I would just believe that he won't let go of me and guide me.THere would always be another chance, in some way or another.

My response pertains to a work situation Deepak[ I have some productive activity that has given me headaches of their own]but in interpersonal relationships I tend to blame myself, feel guilty and only then I analyze the situation rationally. because I am basically a people oriented person and would not like unpleasantness. Now, this is another aspect totally.

Hi Kala! So you rely on lessons of the great epic 'Gita' that making efforts is our duty and to give results is the job of God. It is one of the better methods to make ourselves understand that we did our best, however, God ordained other things for us. Yes, I agree with you that keeping desires simple, also helps us. You appear to be optimistic and I think this helps you to move ahead. Thanks for sharing and enriching the post. have a great day! Deepak

You have got the essence of my response Deepak.I am an optimist and in a work situation I believe that we must make very focused efforts .This is the lesson I also discuss with my son.We should not let opportunities slip too. After being as vigilant and hardworking as possible , we still have a hopeful but resigned approach.Disappointments may be there but ultimately this reliance on God helps us maintain our peace.

Well ,being a pessimist I wouldn't be surprised it failed . would just throw it out and Never try to do it ever again.I live by the adage,"If first you don't succeed, quit,"

No, bnot for me. I can and do encourage my family and friends to try again but I am too much of a operfectionist to keep trying to do something I plainly can't or won't ever do correctly. But with that said , if I Know I can eventually do something , I will keep at it. But I have to know it will turn out right.

Hi Deepak, Like you, I will be disappointed and disheartening. It may take days for recovering from the same. But once the disappointment is over then I can work better than that of earlier. We are human beings and we have to face such kind of incidents and as human being it is natural to get disappointed too. The time will heal the wounds and we can perform well afterwards.

I try not to worry when it comes to things like that. If I don't succeed there's always room to try again and this time try hader. Feeling guilty is one thing, but dwelling on it another. I hope you don't dwell on it!

I would definitely be disappointed at the moment, but I won't beat myself up for that, and I would rather go back or trace back to the origin to see what I did wrong on the steps. I should know better I would avoid the same mistake next time if I encounter the same situation. Thanks to remind me of that.

Hi Dear well deepak, its really nice discussion. Trust me, i wont be disappointed, as its taught to us, that do ur best, put all of ur efforts sincerly, with best of ur knowledge, then leave the Result to Allah Almighty. as nothing can be done. But sure if some project/mission failed, re look into it, think about it rationally, analyse it as where ur steps decesion went wrong, and in future take care of it. and thats what u called experience. Take care

It does feel nice when we start a project and things go well and the end result is exactly what one wanted. A feeling of accomplishment is there. But when things go wrong it is very very disappointing. And disheartening too. If things go wrong because of me I try to find out where I have gone wrong so that I will not repeat the mistake again. If things have gone wrong because of some one elses fault or carelesness I do not blame myself unnecessarily or feel guilty about it. We have to accept success or failure in everything we do.

I have been through the disappointment of working so hard towards a goal only to see it fail and I have experienced the pain and disappointment associated with it. I have not been brought up to have a great deal of confidence in myself so I have the habit of using every failure as confirmation for my lack of worth which is a reaction that has become a habit I am trying to break. Intellectually I am very aware that it is through failure that we learn the most valuable lessons and that is perfectly okay to make mistakes but emotionally I have a lot of work to do.

I remember once my boss told me that I have disappointed him because I failed to do a work he told me to do. He told me many things. The work was done and I had saved it in my pendrive and he refused to listen to my words and it made me really sad though. I felt disheartened because I was not to be blamed at all.

Hi dpk, :) C I am back to trouble u. ha ha. Well, who ever said every effort of ur will be rewarded promptly - like salary on month end. If u have failed once and analyzed where it went wrong then u gleaned something from the effort which will be useful in next project or objective which will certainly be larger, and more fulfilling. That is how it works. My experience shows that. Of course, feeling of dejection is there. Take it easy for sometime. The feeling leaves. The sun always comes the next day. :) I think I know The Sound of Music by heart. . But seriously, if u r willing to put in efforts, ur efforts wont go in vain. U just dont stop at failures. Believe there is another goal waiting for u. And keep on moving. That is what life has taught me.

Hi Vandana! I am impressed with your positive and optimistic views. You mean to say that it is not necessary that every efforts of ours gets rewarded, some are not in fact, due to so many reasons. Yes, I buy your arguments that we can always learn from our past mistakes and take lesson from our failures. It is true that every morning brings new sun in our lives. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful thoughts.

I would feel exhausted and disgusted. I hate working so hard on something and not succeeding with it. I feel like it was such a waste of my time also. I have to take time away to rethink things through.

If i never succeeded in the first attempt i will try to prepare myself so that i don't fail the second time.I will not blame the people for the loss of my project, I have no one to blame but myself.I will work hard and from I will see that the previous mistakes don't happen to me in life again. After all there is a proverb that says "Try Try till you succeed".

Hello my friend dpk262006 Ji, I always learn from my hubby such things, knowingly about all hurdles he will never leave the job, he will revive, where it went wrong. Also, I should never consider my own hard work and effort oput-in to accomplish any task, it is others to decide and react to my trials. My duty is to try. But everything within limits would be appriciated. I would not like and plan to pluck STARS from the sky, which is impossible for me. One should try and work hard to achieve one's goal/task under all varrying conditions. May God bless You and have a great time.

I would just dismiss and accept that I'm just not meant for whatever that is. Sometimes you have to be able to let things go or they will bother the heck out of you and you're probably wasting all of that energy when you could be applying it to something else you can succeed at.
