Hi Hatley, I will miss my computer, mylot and mylotters a lot if I have to be away for a long time. I will try my best to approach any computer so that I can reduce my desire.

I have also been missing in action in mylot for days due to some problems with the computer. I can surf other sites but not here. It is only today that I am able to log-in to mylot using my brother's laptop. My fingers were itching to type on the keyboards but just could not logged in. I missed mylot a lot.

Well, I am glad to see you back! I have also been in that situation (even now)--in December, I picked up and moved in with my boyfriend. Kinda had to give up internet for three months--really hard after being online since the mid 90s! When I got online again (on a computer--my phone doesn't count!) it was heavenly! Unfortunately, our dog was chasing one of the cats and knocked our laptop over, permanently damaging the AC power cord. He's got a tower but we haven't set it up yet--as we had to throw out the old computer table that was damaged beyond repair. But a new cable should (I hope!) be arriving today--we're addicted to a new game on Facebook and want to get back to it!

Tragic...and creepy! about your roommate--I couldn't imagine being 'normal' after something like that either! It's unusual for mental cases to be mixed with others--how long was she your roommate? I understand about missing stuff--I dropped everything back in December to move in with my guy--now I'm missing so much stuff! And I think it's gone too--and he's rarely available to 'help' me too. I'm glad you got that situation--it could have been worse--she could have been wearing excrement on her body, or been doing that horrid wailing!

Lost my comment again! SO not cool myLot! Anyhow, it definitely sounds as if she needs to be in a medical facility--maybe she's suffering from dementia? Or even the beginning of Alzheimer's? She needs to be looked after, that's for sure.

lost my comment thats so odd. tried back one page no go. tried refresh no comment. oh well yes she is tragic and creepy. yesterday she came into the room where we were all playing bingo and asked Yara " Where is my room , its a room with a piano?" Yara was startled and told her your room has always been 215. she just repeated what Yara, our activity director had said. poor lady. she belongs in a clinic for mental cases really. not here as we have no nurses or even a doctor. I was with her for 12 days. that was long enough.

Welcome back!!! What I would like to know is why they decided to make you move instead of her? And why didn't they help you with moving your stuff? I take it you own a desktop computer and they wouldn't move that for you. I hope that doesn't happen to you again. I know that I was without a computer from the time I left my apartment in China on Jan 1 until I got this laptop after I got to America and then after I was checked into the hospital I was without it until I was recovered enough from surgery to use it again. It was at that point I really got involved with mylot again. I haven't been without it since and I hope that I don't have to be without it again. Have a great day!!!

hi daeckardt I wondered that too why not her instead of me then my son pointed out they would have to put her in a empty room as she was contagious so could not be near another resident. as for bringing gthe things I needed those nitwits were just miffed at having to do something extra not thinking that I w as not to go into that room,. they call it assisted living but ask anything out of the ordinary and wow they just put you off. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.I will never forget when I was recovering from shoulder joing replacement surgery and the physical therapistg insisted on me trying to use my left arm to type,. it was so hard at first but as I got used to using my arm with its articial joint I started to type just as good as before. So now I hope no more stuff to keep me away from my computer, yes its a desk top and on cable so they refused to why they did not send her to an isolation room in the nearest hospital is beyond me?

I think sometimes the people who work in those places only care about their paycheck and not one iota about the people they are supposed to be helping! Although I really like helping people, I don't think I could work in a place like that because I tend to become extremely upset when I see what I consider to be an injustice done! I quit one job working with developmentally disabled children and adults because I couldn't deal with the way the other staff treated some of the clients. It didn't do any good to talk to the supervisor because he was one of the worst culprits. When I talked to the big boss of our staff, she let me do things that had me out of the building more than in, but I still only lasted a short time after that.

I'm so sorry to hear that about your little girl. I know that some of those facilities are not very good. My sister was in one home for a couple of years when for some reason they decided to move her. My family was living in Alaska at that time (she was always in California). The first couple of moves were because of care issues I guess. On one trip we made, the facility actually showed how she had made some progress over the year she had been there, but then over the next 5 years there was no change. She lived to be 29 (she was born 3-4 months early, was a blue baby and had cp), but when she was born in 1966, she wasn't expected to survive at all. In the end, she had pneumonia that didn't respond to antibiotics and we chose to take her off life support despite the objections of the social service staff at her facility. I wish there were a way to bring them back.

I wondered what had become of you.Glad it was just a quarantine and not something awful happening to you. I had some problems with my last computer and had to wait about four days for my refurbished one to come. Dell has taken pretty good care of me. I am so addicted to my PC though it was a hard four days.

hi celticeagle yes I was put out of my room and in with a mental case she rocks all day and hugs herself. I think whenshe found her husband murdered it snapped something in her brain. they found her sitting and rocking and hugging herself and weeping. and this has been going on for a year now. they never did find her husbands killer. I o ften wonder if she saw the murder. even have wondered if maybe she was the murderer. all I know is she is harmless but really lost. its so sad. why on earth is she here instead of in a mental wing in a hospital getting some treatment? makes one wonder. Oh I was just beside myself missing my computer so much. I cou ld not email my friend or my son or even use my phone. each blasted phone call I had to make on the public phone downstairs at fifty cents a call.if I ever had enough money to buy a new computer it would be a dell too.

hi celticEagle yes I am back and am stillgetting caught up. Hardworkinggurl was the one who ohoned me from Chicago to find out what had happened to me,. I was so touched and told her I was fine health wise and was just shut out of my room until my roomie was no longer contagious. I am still waiting for the day that I can at least get the new version of windows if not a new computer.

I was going to call you this Friday if I did not hear from you again. Shame the nurses would not accommodate you with your PC. Sorry to have interrupted your lunch when I called the other day, but I was worried about you again! I was without internet for 9 days in February and felt bored and lost because I did loose several online IT assignments but oh well life carried on. Hugs and Kisses and glad to see you back once again!

hi hardworkinggurl I was so gladd to hear from you and let everyone know I was not ill but my poor roomie got the shingles.she was released yesterday but I did not get a clear go ahead so today I just moved right bac k in here, and am not moving out again for anybody. once was enough. I had to walk twice as far so was in pain a lot of the time with my bad knee but I got the pain pills as needed. I am so glad to be bac k in familar surroundings again.. Yes I found life did go on and I did get to see a few of my favorite programs and watched my lakers play twice which was fun but I missed my computer. too this means I had to come up with most of the payment for my cable net bill with my own money , oh I do have twen ty dollars in pay-pal to add to it. odd I started out with 30 then each year they tacked on two no three dollar raise so its now 40.99 per month for TimeWarner cable but it is fast just the same.

Well, I have been where you are with feeling like I need to get on my Computer just to be able to post here and let people know I am still around and OK but sometimes it has been my own health, or other situations going on in my life that seem to play a big role and effect in what goes on for sure. When you are not feeling good but start missing here, that can make things even seem like they take longer for sure. Was wondering where you had gone, but Glad to see you actively being able to post on here again.

What type of Cream were you given from your Doctor? I have always been trying to remember some of the stuff that is out there that might help with my wounds. Mine are looking a lot better, and all surface now for the most part, and quit draining. I just wish I could get New skin over them though to keep them from getting infected etc. in the future. As for they could move a TV, but not a computer makes no sense to me either. I guess they seem to think that older people have no need for them? My husband works in a retirement home and a lot of the residents there use Computers.

hi tina when I was in carehouse with my ruined knee I would think up all sorts of discussions but when I finally got back cou ld I remember any of the stuff I wanted to writel Myknee stillhurt and I still had to walk on it too. but with the aid of pain pills and my walker I am doing pretty well. it was funny that Jeffery said if I had a television they would move it but not my computer now that says a lot as they must not think much of people who u se computers. lol lol You are also a diabetic. hows your wound coming along? mine is almost healed but I need to reschedule my appointment as I did not keep the one on March 11 as my knee was still so painful and swollen I just did not see. then I have kept putting it off , I hate myself when I put things off. I just need to see him to get a prescription for more of that cream. the stuff has healed all but a small portion of that stupid thick rash. so with another tube it should go away a whole year its taken .that 13 days it took for my roomie to get uncontagious were so long and the room they put me in was three times further to walk

Hi Hatley, really glad to have you back again here. Although sometimes I don’t have time to join in the discussion, it's still a pleasure for me just to read everything about you, as well as other familiar myLoters too. It’s a happy routine for me to log in here daily whenever I have leisure After the celebration of Chinese year in Feb I was suffered from severe flu for more than a week. I was rather weak and not allowed to sit in front of the laptop during those days. Days seemed extremely long without having fun at myLot, right?! we are quite used to it and really enjoy doing so. Have a niceday and happy posting

Hi Hatley, thanks for sharing the story here. It didn’t occur to me that during the quarantine you had come across that pity lady who had met with such a misfortune Yeah, from her abnormal behavior mentioned, I believe the unexpected and dreadful scene she encountered shocked her and caused her to lose her sanity at that moment. I hope the authority concerned would send her to the mental health clinic to have an exhaustive mental check up. In this way they then could help her to go back to her normal life I realize that how bored and helpless you were during those days when you were without your computer and internet, worse still you had to stay with that delirious woman and couldn’t give any help to her. I’m glad that you are finally released from that corner and again having fun writing post at mylot again. I hope you are healthy always and keep the flu far away from you. I feel reluctant to see bronchitis to suffer you. Take care and happy posting

Now this is very strange hatley. I am friends with some people who have friends in the local home for the aged. Lately, some of the residents have become afraid to ask for help because whenever they do they are hit back at with "I can't do that - I'm on light duties". The old folks are trying to manage things by themselves and some of them are quite frail. What the bloody h3ll are they there for and being paid for if it's not to help and do things for the residents. Are we seeing a pandemic of selfishness, laziness and greed? because they are paid quite well.

here its a retirement center and they have a lot less rules than the nursing homes do, so they get by with even more. I will never forget that one girl here Perla when she first came was ill with stomach flu vomiting and diarrhea and she asked a careggiver to help her into the bathroom as she was dizzy,He refused, and said"this is not a hospital' an walked out on her. I was furious whe she told me that and she did report him and he did get a reprimand too. You know I fully expected Jeffery to come back that day and say'I did not tell you you cou ld move back in but he did not come so guess he did not really care at all. lol. these three that own this place are just in it for the money they make from us. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It is greed plain and simple.as my son warns me I am proactive for myself and my health.

hi hatley, i am glad to see you making discussion/s again. if you remember the flash flood that damaged our city a year back... when that happened there was no electricity in our country. some of the internet shop wa badly damaged as well. i need to go with a bike and find a place where there was electricity and internet service just to go to the net and tell our relatives abroad that we are all okay. it took me biking for more than an hour. plus it was very muddy so my legs ache after that. that was the only time i felt getting back online. though it was not my own pc and my own home but i was in needing to go on line.

hi my fellow mylotters and filippino friends . I remember reading about that and also I think some of you had mentioned that here. those were sure bad times for you all and my heart and sym pathies for whatever they were worth sure went out to you all and yours. The Philippines is one place I have always wanted to viist it b ut lack of money sure limits any traveling the best I can do now is spend a dollar for a day pass down to the Newport pier and stroll along the Pacific and watch the surf and all the sea lions and seals and sea gulls and in some places the big old pelicans too.I am like you so into my computer I even asked if they cou ld not move my computer and monitor and plug me back into the cable in the room I was stuck in. of cou rse they refused to do so. no is one of their favorite words here. yuck. anyway I am thrilled and happy to be back on mylot and typing away. chip I can understan se7enthbird as I am that devoted too. guess we are addic ted to our computers like you and the beetle lol lol lol

i asked to have my computer and monitor moved but no go he said we would move your television but I said I do not own a television. I guess it was the cable and they lacked the expertise to attach my computer and monitor to the cable in the other room so I had to go without which nearly sent me beserk. I was so upset one day I was actually yelling at Rocky a caretaker who refused to get me a glass so I could have drinking water in my room and I did not even realize I had pounded the counter with my fist. Kristine made me apologize. but one of out really nice residents gave me a cocoa cola glass as he felt I had been mistreated or treated unfairly.oh I did have withdrawals for sure as I yelled at the man. he was partly to blame as he wou ld not let me in my room to get my large cup and told me to ask for one from the kitchen. I got one and the second day they took it out of my room. If I do not drink at least ten glasses of water a day I get those horrid cramps in the calves of my legs in the middle of the night. none of this registered with Rocky or Kristine. they just repeated the its the ru le you stay on the other side blah blah. I kept sayin I do not want a snack so came to the front counter to ask for an empty glass for my room. oh well alls well that ends well. lol

Well I'm glad you are finally back, Hatley! I can relate a little bit but not for the same reasons. I remember when my mother was very sick and needed 24/7 care. My brothers and I all pitched in to keep her from going into a nursing home. I took the day shift which started at 7Am and lasted until 2pm when I had to go into work until 11:30 pm. My youngest daughter was only 13 and I could barely find time for her or anything let alone get on here. The doctors predicted that she had only a couple of weeks left to live when it all started. Well, I guess they didn't know the extent of my mothers stubborness. She held on for 11 months. Over time, I got used to it and it just became a way of life. I guess I can relate better to the shorter periods that my computer has been in the shop for 3 or 4 days. I become painfully aware of how very much a part of my life it has become. I do miss mylot when that happens because that is what I do when I take little breaks during the day. I am used to getting on here when I get out of work at 11:30pm. It's how I unwind. I'm lost when I can't. And I appreciate so much when I get it back!

Well, Hatley, I am not sticking up for your husband for his inability to quit smoking but I can tell you as a smoker how very very hard it is to quit. It is a very powerful addiction that only a smoker could understand. And they could move your tv but not the computer??? well now that's odd. I'm sure they have their reasons but it seems as if it wouldn't be any more of a problem.

hi sid oh its so hard when someone you love is that ill and I remember how I had pleaded and begged my husband to quit smoking as it had already damaged his heart. they told him if he stopped smoking at once he would live to spend our golden years together b ut he just could not stop. so one heart attack after another, and the last one was the final step. so I have spent my golden years as a widow. but my son has been so wonderful at coming to see me each and every week. Now shingles was so u nexcpected and I was kept out of my room for 13 long long days. I even asked to have my computer and monitor plugged into cable in that other room but no they refused they said we would move your television for you and I had to smile I do not own a television I said. well alls well that ends well so they say. I do relax when I am on here.

it was Sunday morning early and Kathy insisted on being taken to the hospital ER okay so they call me downstairs just as they are in the process of bringing Kathy back to her room. Rose took me into the med.room and told me that Kathy was in quarantine as she had the shingles. I almost fell off the chair. I was told I wou ld sleep in room 113 b okay so the caregivers reluctantly bring me my comb and brush, my shampoo and hair conditioner and three changes of c lothes.also when I told christine I had had shingles in 2008 she showed how stupid she was medically as she made me see my primary doctor to be assured that I did not give shingles to my roommate nor was a carrier, such stupidity. he laughed and said u nless you are broken out there's no way you could give the shingles you had in 2008 to any one.he wrote on a note that I was free from all symptoms of shingles. It took til today for the doctor to declare she was no longer infectious. Seems she broke out with shingles in the er. that explained why she had had so muc h pain.Actually she was declared not infectious any longer yesterday but I was not allowed to c ome back yet.I just took things in my own hands and moved me and my stuff in here this morning. and here I am staying.

hi jdyrj777 I was; gone twenty days for rehab now 13 days as Kathy was infectious with her shingles so I had to stay in a different room with a very weired lady who not only would not talk to me but rocked for twenty or thirty minutes on the side of her bed and glared at me. she also liked the room frigid at nightso I asked for and got an extra blanket. I was so glad when Kathy's doctor came and released her from her quarantine yesterday supper time.So I have a lot of catching up to do now. I am really happy to be back on the net and on mylot too.

hi zralteI am so glad to be back its pathetic. I am happy and laughing and smiling again. It is taking me awhile as I feel out of sync but I will soon be back in my own mode again. I always like to start out responding then go to discussion mode but wanted folks to know I was now okay and back in my own familiar surrounding . family problems are always the hardest to recover from and get back into the swing of things.

I had to bulk delete my emails as there were just so many notifications. Now I put them in a neat little folder . Looking forward to your full participation here. Long may you reign, our dear Queen of myLot.
