Do you have some new and uncommon idea to get rid of monotony of life?

Hi all! Do you feel bored by the common activities sometimes and want to do something unusual and new. Here are few suggestions for you. If you are not ambidextrous and write either with your left or right hand, you can start writing or practice to write with your non-dominant hand e.g. if you are a right handed person, you can try writing with your left hand. You would find it difficult to write but this will be a great fun activity and will sharpen your mind. If you are watching a movie or a serial and want to add some zing, you can mute the sound and you can start imaging your own dialogues and see if it fits into the scene. Another one is if you are sitting idle and someone is around, you can make a sketch of him/her, even if you are not an artist. If will be great fun to draw someone’s sketch and then show it to him/her. Do you love to try different things when you are at your leisure? If you have some uncommon and different ideas like I mentioned above, I would like you to share with us.

Hi sweetie. Well, i did try to write with my left hand once. Looks like a freaking drunk mouse hobbled over the page. I like the mute one though. I have an awesome imagination, you won't believe what i can come up with. I cannot draw at all, too stupid, i think. But i do tend to irritate those around me when i get bored. I always like to try out new things, if only once.

Hi dear! It is true that those of us who are right handed writers cannot write with left hand and if we attempt, it will look as a nursery kid is writing in his copy.. However, the fun and thrill of doing will sharpen our brain and will keep us involved. Does not matter if you cannot draw, we all are not artists or painters or sketch makers, but when we try, if becomes very exciting. What new things do you try to attempt, even if once? Thanks for joining us.

Well... I tried to make my own youtube video. Stupid actually. A 5 year old could have done that better. But we had a good laugh from it though.

Hi DPK Hey I did try that left hand writing thing and it worked out fine on at least all the occasions. A few years back, when I had an accident and was working as a trainer, I did use my left hand to write out on the board and it worked fine. For me, I would love to try (and yes I do this too) - get wet in the rain, play in the mud with kids around and fly kites. I love these things and unfortunately not many around see these as a matured act from a person who is 38+ but I dont care. It is me. and I love doing these things. Also - I have started translating stories from Panchtantra etc. for children though I know they are available in plentiful around. But that is good time pass and a better way to relieve stress.

I am impressed with your response and attitude 'thesids'. It is great to hear that you are almost ambidextrous and could write with your left hand. Playing in the mud and/or with kids is real fun and so is the flying kite (and we become like a kid, when we fly kites). It is really commendable that you are translating Panchatantra stories, keep it up.

What if you are a horrid artist and do not like to sketch? I wouldn't want to hurt someone like that. LOL We have a weekly paper that has all kinds of activities and such in it. And just changing ones schedule can be fun. Going for nature hikes and to new areas of the place where you live can be interesting as well.

Hi Cel! it does not matter if you are not a trained artist. You see drawing a perfect sketch is not mandatory, you can mess while sketching, but just making an attempt will give you a kind of satisfaction. There is no need of showing it the person, whom you sketched.. Hiking is a great idea, provided we can afford to go for it. Thanks for dropping in.

You made me laugh with your antics Jaiho! But with dpk's suggestion, i guess i would like trying to do things with my left hand. Oh no, why would i make my life difficult with that? I am not bored at all. I always enjoy every minute of what God has given me. If i am bored, i wouldn't be here.

Sounds fun... I should try writing with a left hand. Then next would be writing with both hands, I mean while the right hand writing something at the same time the left hand writing something else on a different paper.

That's a really cool suggestion. I have tried writing with my left hand to keep myself up one time. I'm naturally right-handed but for the sake of fun i did write using my left hand and yeah that kept me up the whole time. Last Monday i was skyping with my British friend and suddenly had the urge to tell him that i feel like sketching him. It was something that i want to do when i'm just staring at someone and not talking at all. I think it's one way of making my mind sharp as i don't want to be idle.

Hi Toni! Thanks for appreciating my suggestion. It is nice to hear that you try to write with your left hand and you enjoy doing it. OH! it sounds great that you even attempted to draw a sketch of your friend, it shows your artistic bend of mind.

Hi Deepak! GOd has kept me well and I generally have not found any monotony in my life so far.I would of course be doing the same cooking, housekeeping, reading, teaching[when there were students\], singing , watching films etc.., A well loved song played for the umpteenth time uplifts my spirits. Similarly, a good film or a book [even repetitive watching or reading is a change for me. Occasionally I do some window shopping and this is another extra diversion. I learn something new, some dish and try it out in the kitchen and it is one form of relaxation. But apart from this I generally am happy with the regular routine Random doodling/Sketching is something I used to keep doing but now I don't do it too much.I am really hard pressed for time these days. I won't try the first suggestion because it brings back some memories [I don't wish to spoil the mood of the lightness you expected in this discussion by quoting the reason.] Do you find my response strange?

One important point that I faled to write was about my avid interest and involvement in stock market. THis being the case, you can have no monotony in life because that activity also occupies your mind and time. Regarding the other part , it is with reference to my father. You already know how he was suddenly paralysed at the age of 55 . He lost movement on one side and speech; he was very hopeful that he would come back to normalcy and would keep telling his clients "I would be back in two months".But, sadly, he could never become alright totally nor speak well till his last. He lost his capacity for expression. He used to diligently practise with his left hand and I have often thought how difficult it is to write with left hand.DOing ti for fun is one thing but this particular memory always saddens me.

Hi Kala! There was nothing strange in your response. You were to the point and explained your position very well. It is heartening to hear that you remain too busy in cooking, reading and housekeeping activities that you seldom feel bored. The suggestions were meant for those, who wish to break the monotony and those who remain busy, are required to implement such suggestions. Your last part of the response surprised me a bit and am thinking how can writing with the other hand could bring back odd memories to you? If you do not want to disclose her, you can message me. Many thanks for dropping in.

I can understand your both the points Kala. Share market is such an addiction that it will make you forget everything in the world.. I can also imagine your feelings about your father's attempt to write with left hand, when it was very difficult for him.

Janmasthtami is celebrated here in great fashion and we enjoy going to various temples, which are decorated like a bride.

I have so much on my 'plate' dpk that I cannot say that I am bored. Sometimes I do not know which activity I should be busy with. I have several hobbies - gardening, travel, pets, trying out new recipes, writing poetry, articles, photgraphy, creating video clips, watching tv, listening to music, reading, seeing that my house is in ship shape order, surfing the net, sometimes just sitting and living over memories and last but not the least being here. Now tell me dpk do I need anything else to keep myself happily occupied?

Hello dpk Ahaha that all sounds like someone trying to really fill in the gaps of what sounds to me a very boring time. So yes it is like putting forth creativity which will allow one to be more adventurous in a sense where they completely loose sense of time and hence no longer bored. I was just going to say something standard like develop some hobbies, but maybe that too would be a bit boring.

Hi HWG!~ Yeah, you are very right, it is like filling up the 'gaps' to kill the boredom or monotony.. Developing new hobbies is a great idea but we should not stick to same old hobbies. Thanks for dropping in.

Hi dpk your ideas are just great. Whenever i feel bore i listen the old songs. I play with my kids. Talk to my friends. But i never tried those unusual things. I really want to try them. Earlier i enjoyed painting but now with kids i do not get much time but surely start it again.

Bhaby, it is not easy to write with your left hand, when you are a right handed person. But the fun is in trying because our brain will force us to write neatly and when we would struggle to write neatly, it will keep us busy and will sharpen our brain. Drawing PERFECT sketch is not necessary, you can mess while sketching, but just making an attempt will give you a kind of satisfaction.

Hello DPK, There are different methods to get rid of boredom but it depends person to person. I tried to write it with left hand but i could not write and felt irritating but could not get rid of boredom. I feel good when i play with my 3 years kids (twins) when i feel bored. I take them to the top flour and keep them running behind me to catch me as i have many benefits by it like i get rid of boredom,my kids enjoy it,my wife gets free from kids and does her house hold works which she could not have completed in my kids presence, lastly its a bit of exercise hahaha

Hi sj! I can understand your point and I know it is not easy to write with your left hand, specially when you are a right handed person. But the fun is in trying because our brain will force us to write neatly and when we would struggle to write neatly, it will keep us busy and will sharpen our brain. Playing with kids could also be great fun activity to distract ourselves.
