Have you ever forgotten and left something of value behind in a public place?

Today I went to lunch at Sizzler Steakhouse for their salad bar. I had my $500 camera in the car with me and just felt that I wanted to take it inside, in case somebody broke into my car (One never knows). I enjoyed visiting with my friend over lunch for about 1 1/2 hours then we left to go do a little grocery shopping. I forgot to pick up the camera which I had placed on the seat next to me. We went shopping at several stores, then I headed home. I live in the next town north and my friend lives only about 1 mile away from Sizzler. When I arrived home, I gathered my purse and went to pick up the camera to bring it inside and panicked when I discovered I had not brought it back from the restaurant! I immediately called Sizzler, but their phone was repeatedly busy. I called my friend and asked her to please, please go quickly to the restaurant to see if the camera was still there! She went by and I quickly headed down there, but wanted her to be there as fast as possible. Luckily, the waitress spotted it before anybody else did and held it in the back knowing we'd return for it. She knows we're regulars, so was glad to return it to me when we arrived. Have you ever done such a thing and what was the outcome?

Yes about two summers ago I was at a Ruby Tuesdays and after our meal we continued our journey as we were headed to Arkansas. About 30 minutes into the road trip, I realized I never picked up my phone from the table. So we had to drive back because it was no way near our home, in fact we were already 6 hours from home and about another 7 hours from our destination. I was in a bit of panic as I thought oh my gosh someone could have seen it and picked it up. So as soon as I walked in the door the hostess, immediately said your phone right. I was very happy as whoa I would not have been able to purchase another one at the moment. Thankfully there are still a lot of honest people in the world. It seems that the bus boy cleaning the table actually found it on the seat.

That's awesome to hear! The good stories are so great. I really think that the majority of the people in this world are basically honest. It seems that so many are bad because the news only likes to report on the bad stuff mostly.

yes,i've done that before. it was 2 yrs ago though. i usually go to church every sunday, and it's just a walking distance from home. everytime i go to church,by that time i always bring my phone cause im not comfortable without it,im not using it inside the church but im just more comfortable with it. i was wearing a dress and obviously no pockets where to put my phone, and i usually take a sit at the farthest pew and behind it was a wall. so what i did,i put my phone at the back where i was sitting. when the mass ended,i casually walked to the door of the church and headed home. when i was going to check if i have any messages,i intantly realized that i forgot my phone inside the church at the pew where i sit. hopefully i was still half way home and still near the church and i ran so fast that i almost can't catch up my breath. when i spotted my phone at the pew,im so relieved that i hugged it,it was my first phone my mother gave. from that time on,i never brought my phone to church again.:)

I left my purse at a rest area off of the interstate one time and when I realised it, we went back and everything was gone, camera, social security card, money and all.

I think you got really lucky there that the waitress found the camera instead of someone else. I don't think anything like that has happened to me. I hope that in the future if you take your camera in with you that you leave it in your purse or on the table rather than a chair unless it is attached to something that you will be picking up anyway. Have a great weekend!!!

Yes I have couple of times but I don't know if I can say I left it behind though. Last winter I lost my camera. I know where I lost it. It must have fell and someone must have taken it Coz when I went back to look for it, it wasn't there. Oh yeah and mom once left her mobile phone in a restaurant. We went back to take it and they returned it

Oh! I hate it when this happens, it makes me go crazy and panic non stop. My friends actually bought me a new phone and I adored it. One day me and my friends went to this tutor to try it out and we did not enjoy it. The office ladies wouldn't let us out so being dare devils we were, we hid in the storage room and escaped out the window. With adrenaline pumping through our veins, we ran once we got out and my phone fell out of my bag! When we hit the shops, I decided to check the time only to find my phone was gone. We then had to rush back to the tutor building again! and run out the back to find my phone. It was still safe lying on the ground. I was so scared. Karma for trying to escape from a window.

OMG..Kizzy..you have the propensity, to bring out all my "contradicting" and somewhat "challenged" personality traits! BUT...I DO have an excuse for every "faux pas" like my challenged memory. My biggest, stupidest move..is my purse! NEVER on this small Island, is a purse a commonality..Bank card and Cash in the pocket of my jeans. Send me to town, where the real people live, Vancouver or Victoria...and my purse seemingly has a pleasant stay in a lot of places, including the roof of my pick-up truck, or the box! I am just NOT used to carrying these contraptions..so things like my cell phone, are in a Roots case, firmly attached to my belt loops! I like to use the excuse..a town trip is a pressure trip...have had to admit that I can be scatterbrained, and NOW have to double-check everything! DUH!
