I am writing this sort of as a mylot public service. so many here evidently do not know that the same button used to report an insulting post can be used by us to ask admins to delete say
the two other copies we inadvertantly got when we just posted
one. also you can ask mylot admins to delete a post you feel'you messed up and do not want to post it. tell them the reasons and they
will delete these posts for you. I repeat we just use the same
exclamation point tab we use to report a discussion that broke some
rule,to use for our own problems of getting copies of a post accidentally. hope this helps answer questions for a lot of newer mylotters. I found out I could use the report button for my own problems through trial and error. I do not know if its posted in any of the mylot info but seems a lot of people did not know you could use the report button for your own post problems. your take mylotters.

Hello Mrs. Hatley,
Yes I was aware of the (!) report button and have used it for myself. I have had some internet lags where I have double posted responses at times. I have gone in the report box and asked to please remove my double post.
Then I go to the box where the double post is at and type in to do not comment here as I reported it to admin. I do so, so no one waste efforts.
Yes I do see where many of not aware so very kind of you to publicly announce this so many now can read and do so.

oh how funny when it was you who reported your own discussion. I had one that really was so bad I would have been ashamed to have commented to clear up errors as there were too m any. so I had them delete it and rewrote it and proofread and edited it too.

Good job Mrs. Hatley! Reading through the responses from the several not so new members your discussion serves as a great service announcement! Oh my I remember the pancake syrup incident, that was so frightening. But so happy to always see you around the Lot!
Hi PQ! The first time I reported my own and saw the email notification I panicked and said to myself, oh my I broke a rule then it hit me silly girl you reported your own. lol

Hi HWG! Hugs to you! I've also used the (!) button for my own discussion I wanted deleted.. they were quick about it also.. and said 'deleted per your request'... It was great that the admin was so quick about it.

Dear Ms Hatley
I agree with you. The Guides need a re-type and this time they should come up with making them easier and elaborate so that many newbies learn and also find it interesting to read them. I feel quite bored reading those plain pages of texts... I mean in today's internet we have videos and quite exciting ways of putting up pages of plain text and MyLot too should grow up.
As for asking for removal of ones own post/response, I am aware that a few do this and I regard their behavior as quite a wonderful one. For me, I have reported my own responses a couple of times when they got re-posted due to the Browser and Internet issues at my Computer.

I have seen a number of people suggest that the guidelines need to be upgraded. That is not because we are critical, but because over the years things have just changed.

hi the sids I really do not think its made clear in the guidelines that you can also use the report button to report glitches that leave you with one one copy of your post but two or three. Also if you have a post such as a discussion that just does not suit you after all you can hit the exclamation point and ask admins to
delete the screwed up post.

Yeah I remember you mentioned in some other discussion that we should hit the "!" button and report when our responses got posted twice, and I was able to do that. Thanks for the info.
I think a year or two ago I did try to look for ways to delete certain posts and I even wanted to delete my account entirely because of things I've said that might potentially embarrass me. I guess MyLot would heed requests to change posts because years later I changed my mind and how I feel about the issue.

hi katcarneo . when I read this I thought of some thing my son
said to me,"MOm never write anything on the net that you do
not want the whole world to see and read. I have tried to keep
that in mind but I was flamed royally by a mylotter who has a very sharp tongue and I lost my temper .so I flamed her and I did
know better so I got my discussion deleted for a flaming war.not my idea but the admins and they were right.

I've been a member here for YEARS and never knew that little trick! Lately I've been without time to post, and last night our laptop gave up the ghost. This hasn't been a good week in our house. Thanks Hatley for sharing that one!

hi scorpiobabes you are welcome and I figured a lot of mylotters might not know that y uo can use the report button for your own problems like too many copies of one of yo ur posts and they will delete the extras for you at once. also if you louse up a post you can ask mylot admins to delete for you and they will do that too.

I think most think of the ! as to report a bad post, not to ask the admin to delete a post one made a mistake in making.

hi carm yes I do realize that but somewhere I found out you can also use it when you posted something and then found it copied itself
twice. also I once used the report button to ask admins to
delete a discussion as I had just found it was a duplicate a secnd after I posted it and again they deleted it for me. so yes we can use that report button for other uses too. This was triggered by
\several new discussions asking mylot to provide a post for us to delete copies we did not want of a post or to ask admins to
delete a messed up post. they did thid for me several times. s o I know we can use the report button fot more than just reporting a bad post of someone else's .

Hi Hatley,
I've done that before. I've asked for a repeat post to be deleted, or if I made a bad typo or something, I have asked for it to be deleted so I could rewrite it after it is deleted. I don't see too many identical discussions. With so many people here, there will be many people who do think alike.
Now when something happens... like when an earthquake or tsunami happens, you get discussion after discussion after discussion... yet they are usually worded differently, so I don't see too much wrong with it. I may answer one or two of them and ignore the rest. I guess they could delete their repeat discussions, but I really see no reason to unless it was actually a word for word repeat.. which sometimes happens by accident.

lost my whole comment copy paste. yes I had one that I forgot
to edit and it was so full of errors that rewriting it was the
only thing to do so I asked mylot to delete before anyone could
respond and they really did , were really fast with it too. some
people here do not know that as they are asking for mylot to put in a delete button so we can delete our posts if needed. its already there if they just knew it.

hi GardenGerty I don't think it is posted anywhere either as I looked and did not find it. It is handy but you need to know about it like going to preferences to change your avatar first you have to know where to go then when you get there its very simple to do too.I think there are several things that need to be put in the
guidelines to be made more clear. lol lol

Geez, I'm far from being a newbie here but I did not realize we could use that button to have our own discussions deleted.
I had wondered about how that is done from time to time, usually after reading a discussion where it was mentioned that someone had another one of their discussions deleted. I suppose having ADD is one possible explanation as to why I've never asked before.
So, a great big THANK YOU for posting this! I know it will help a lot of members. Even if we never use this feature, it's still good to know.
Kudos!

hi mentalward yes I figured a lot of people did not know that you could use the report tab to get extra copies of something you got from a mylot glitch or you have a discussion thats just too full of errors to save and ask them to delete and say why and they will
do it.

That's good information. Thank you. I posted a response in the wrong discussion once and realized it as soon as I hit the post button but it was too late. I wished at the time that I had a way to delete the post but didn't know I could use your method. I just posted again saying to disregard but I know it looked dumb. Oh well, can't be perfect all the time...

Hello Mrs. Hatley, thank you very much for this revelation! I'd never be able to discover it. I had a problem once starting two discussions and people began to respond it the two places. The guidelines really should be rewritten. We need more information put in a better form.

hi fannitia yes they really should be and made more clear and add a few things they left out like two uses for the report button as we can use it to report having a glitch and getting several copies of one post as you can ask the admins to delete the extras and also if you have a discussion with way to many errors in it you can ask mylot admins to delete this awful discussion and they will do it for you.

Hatley aunty : Yes. It is a very useful information. without our knowledge sometimes two responses get posted and then we can delete one using this button. I used it once only when one of our friends advised me "look you have made two posts-- request admin to delete one-otherwise it may be treated as double post".
I hope aunty is doing well. Winter would have started , is it not? Here in chennai it is hot, hotter and hottest in comparison to the climate we had in usa for six months.

hi ravisivan love that smiling face. lol yes its a good thing to know and I know some may not have known that.if you have my lot delete extra posts you will not get any deletes for breaking duplicate posts.also if you good up a discussion you can ask them to delete it as its too awful to post.

hi sjvg good that you know but I found out a lot did not
know you could use the report button for other uses so
am giving away a bit of free info here and hoping it
helps others to know y ou can use the report button to g e t
rid of too many copies by asking admions to delete them
for you or ask them to delete a goofed up post you do
not want to post before anyone can respond to it,.

hi stephcjh no you just explain to mylot why you want something of yours deleted and they are pretty quick to delete\ the extra copies or the post you made that was too full of errors to post, all you do is explain why you wish them to delete something.this will get the results you want.

can use that report button to also delete extra copies of a post that had some glitch and also if you have a post that just does not look right or you feel it had broken a r ule you can explain and ask adminds to delete it before anyone resonds. glad I can help.

hi there hately.
i have tried to use that [!] button to have my discussion deleted.
and yes they did delete it.
i was pretty sure that i have break some rules so i hurriedly hit that button all the more when a mylotter responded to my discussion and told me that i was not reading other previous discussions so that led me to hit that button.
i didn't have any idea of that i just did and it worked.

hi yes it worked and that was the main thing and good thing,. I did u se it once to have a discussion deleted before any one could
respond as it had so many errors in it that posting a comment
explaining tweny errors would be too embarrassing.I do not know
what admins did not put this use in their guidelines as many'of us get that glitch that makes several copies you do not want or need. and its not deleted the other way where you lose earnings as you have even commeted on your rsponses,

hi shanemae y es it really is true as your response is like a twig onb the discussion tree and when the discussion ie the tree is cut down the responses or twigs fall down too and are deleted and any thiong deleted takes off of our earnings.
