This morning I had a great idea for making a discussion. but I did not write it down. Spent most of day responding to others discussions then tonight thought yeah I will make that discussion. So I sat here and pondered and scratched my head, drank some water and thought"what the heck was that great idea? something that was bothering me? no thats not it. something about rain forests or extinct animals,no that ones been done. Okay what was it self? Self" I have not the foggiest idea hatley. did you not right it done? Hatley: no I did not.Your take have you ever had a really great idea for a discussion that was so good you just knew you would not forget it? and then when you finally got around to it,the idea was gone, not there. sob. boohoo.your take fellow mylotters.

I do this all the time. I will finally turn off the PC and get all comfy in my fluffy and soft blankey. THere is no way I am coming out of the warmth to write down an idea so I lose alot of them. I will get them in the car too and nothing to write them down on. Oh well.

hicelticeagle OH I am yawning as I did not sleep well last night but if I lie down now I will not have much of a nap. I tried to resurrect it last night by responding to other's discussions but I think I was just too tired to think straight so I never did really remember

Yes Hatley, Plenty of time I have thought of something for a discussion when I am away from the computer. I think I mentioned that to you in one of the discussions, that I am going to have to keep a notepad with me to jot things down, so I will have them when I get back to myLot. I find it very difficult to just sit here and start discussions. Your not the only one that forgets, I think alot of us do. Have a wonderful week. Hugs

hi MaryLynn I do remember it was triggered by something in a discussion but not the topic at all, something about the user's wording . I love to play around with words and often think oh my just one wrong first letter in my discussion and it makes complete nonsense of the whole sentence. but the real topic for my discussion just disappeared when I sat down a few minutes ago to write it down finally. So I am digging out the new note book I bought as its just the right size to be on my desk . I always keep a pen there too.from hatley

I know what you mean Hatley. I will be watching something on TV or see something on the internet that will give me an idea of what to put down for a discussion, or to write about on the other site where I post recipes and articles I write. I do find that having a notebook and pen handy definitely helps too. Have a wonderful day. Hugs

Oh, Hatley, I feel your pain! I have in the past many time thought of a great discussion idea only to go to the computer a short time later and not have a clue what I was going to write! I find the best thing to do in these situations it to post to another discussion and then I will rember later why I was at MY LOT in the forst place and return to my original thought process.

hi ljbinkop It seems like at times we cannot hold onto two seoarate ideas and for some reason, the other idea I had made my discussion idea just vanish completely . I know it was something to do with how the simple error of the wrong first letter of a word can make a big difference but the key idea was gone. So I should have gone back to just responding and maybe the idea would return to me.

Hi Harley! I have to share that my forgetter is getting better AND better! I told my daughter what I wanted her to get at the grocery store. Tonight she said she was going and u didn't even know what I wanted this morning. Thank God she remember. I would not remember my name if I was really nervous. I forget a lot. I've been tested for Alzheimers disease and I'm clear of that.

hi pointlessquestions and bagarad yes some medications do make you forgetful, hope thats my excuse as I was so sure I would remember the idea and i did not.also I even managed to make and not catch a typo in the title of this discussion. Write it done should have been write down. how embarrassing in the title of one's discussion.

Don't feel bad Hatley... I forget EVERYTHING! I have to make a note of everything I need to remember or I WON'T remember. It's not meds doing it to me... part of it may be depression... but I just know my forgetter just keeps getting better all the time.. I have even forgotten my address before when asked for it.

hi jazel__juan I think we all must get that at times 'and perhaps its mixed in with all out thoughts on things we have to do offline and somehow when we can do it our brilliant idea for a great discussion get lost in all the things we must remember to do of line I think. This is my second as the first one just flew off. so now am copying it to the clipboard i had a bad night without much sleep so am lying down now for a couple of hours. i

lol..yes..it happens alot. When I first started here I had a million ideas for discussions and I actually did start to write things down some. They are little fewer and further between now so I'm not in the habit of writing them. I just figure I'll remember them..I don't. Maybe it will come back to you soon.

I too have had that experience. We get these bright ideas at the most unusual times and places where we can't jot them down for future reference. Our busy schedule makes us forget them and a good topic for discussion is lost.I think its best we have a hand held mobile which can immediately connects to the net whereby such good topics for discussion can immediately put on the net.

hi yes that would work b ut don't they cost a bit, and I am not very well off right now. but I am now wondering if my son has something like that I could borrow occasionally. I do know it has something to do with words and how just changing the first letter in a word could cause problems but there was a key and thats what I do not remember. lol I think I was at breakfast here at Dold crest this morning when I got my bright idea. lol

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, etc.etc. Sometimes it's not even a full day, all it takes is about 5-10 minutes. I'll be thinking, 'what was I thinking that would have made a great discussion on myLot?' I usually console myself with 'If it's important enough, it will come back to me' - Except of course, by the time the idea rolled around again, either it has lost it's shine or I'm no longer in the mood to write it down.

hi zralte yes indeedthere is a bunch of us it seems. I should have written it down as it had to do with some fun things about how a letter changed in a word can really wreck things. but how I was going to put it together and what the key sentence was have escaped me for sure.with me sometimes it comes back and some one has just done the same thing or too close.but I remember at the time thinking I had not seen a discussion on that topic. well I will remember again maybe.

Hi FriendYes it happens to me quite often, and the same thing happens when i wake up form a dream. if i have a bad dream i can remember it in detail, but,if its a nice one,the minute i wake up it's totally forgotten. Both are very frustrating and more time is taken trying to remember what you wanted to say than the time it would take to post a new discussion.i really think the mind has a way of playing tricks on us, so unfair

Yes. I have also experienced similar situation. An idea thought to be very good by me for starting a discussion--after a few hours --appears to be silly and not worth it. I dropped posting those discussions. Luckily I have not forgotten fully the topic

I do remember it has something to do with words and with spelling and making something different from what you wanted, but the key idea I just do not remember. maybe another time.

Procrastination is the reason why great ideas don't materialize on screen. I always have in mind that there is tomorrow to type it out but my tomorrow is endless and by the time I have the mood to type, I have forgotten everything and I ended up responding to discussions instead.

hi zandi I have forgotten what my husband used to tell me, tomorrow never comes, do it today as that way you do not lose your great ideas.another thing I hate is when I go to write a comment or response and zip just as I type the last line its gone. I always feel that the one that disappeared is better than the one I rewrote and copied, maybe not but I always think the original was best. there are times when I can hit undo and save my lost post.

Hi Hatley, I think that happen to me too many time until I couldn't count how many time actually I forgotten the great discussion ideas that I had before. Ideas can come in anytime, and I even think what to write and how to put up the title, but the next day, I tried to recall back, it was totally gone from my brain. There are also many times where I tried to write it down in a small note book but later I was too lazy to do that anymore, and now I will just let it be, I will just do it if I can remember, or else, just reply to others discussion.

hi yspmyl I think a lot of us have the same problem then i see some users post fifteen discussions in that many minutes and how the heck can they do it. It takes me a while to think of a great idea and a while to write it. I want it to be quality writing so' others can read, and respond, and really understand what I am talking about. I have to remember all are not English speakers and not use huge words that might not translate into other languages.

Oh yes this has happened to me couple of times in the past. First of all, I have really hard time thinking of what to start and so I seldom start any discussions. So when I lose an idea I get mad lol. I have had this before so these days whenever an idea pops in, I write it down immediately, be it in a notepad or my phone anywhere lol I hope you do write it down from the next time too

hi thatgirl 13 I am all set now with a new notepad and an extra pen that works. I too do not do a lot of discussions as i like to comment back and need time to do that. I do too many then its hard to keep up on the comments and its not fair to posters not to comment back on responses.I will be prepared next time.

Oh yes it happens to me too, sometimes I am in the street and I see something interesting that I would like to discuss here but by the time I get home I don't try to remember and can't do it. Now what I try to do is have a pencil write notes about the theme or send me myself a text messege remembering me about the new discussion.

hi Rosa it just does not stay at times when you really think oh I will remember that. if you are under stress in your off line world'then its sure to slip your mind,I know it had something' to do with how one misplaced first letter in a word changes everything but still there was a special key sentence but I had and cannot remember it.so need that pad and a pencil or pen. Do like a Girl scout be prepared.
