Wound Update: Sometimes It Pays To Make Sure and Say Something

Many of you have been following the issue I have been having with the Chronic wound because of being Diabetic, and what a trial this has been, and it seems like it has been taking forever as well. It has been an uphill battle for sure, and sometimes I wonder why God continues to not want to heal as quick as I would like.
The wound has gone thru various stages over the months. I will admit that it is looking better than it did, but at the same time, it for some reason now is at a stand still and has not progressed any smaller. I personally think it is all to them deciding I needed to see a New doctor and when I first seen him he decided to debride my wound even after I have had numerous OASIS never stopping to consider I am prone to Staph infections or thinking this could slow down the Healing process or Stop it as well. Since the wound has not gotten any better, it for sure has not helped with it being debreeded.
So now I am back to being on an Antibiotic in case it was getting infected as it was looking a little red again, and they did another OASIS, and we shall see how things progress from here. I am hoping this helps the wound get smaller again and things progress forward from here. Even next time they think debreeding is Best I say they need to think again and try other options. Because personally this is starting to get old and Healing would take place.
So continued Prayers are appreciated and I am continuing to think positive that 2012 is going to be a wonderful yr.

I'm sorry Krause, I remember seeing your last discussion and I think I replied, but with this schoolwork, I can't remember what I said. Now that I know you are a diabetic, yes you must be VERY careful will ALL wounds, regardless how minor it is. My sister would get staph infections all the time, but she also didn't live in a clean environment.. I hope it clears up soon, and take care of yourself, diabetes can be a serious threat to your health..

Well, I work in a Filthy environment which does not help my Skin at all, and I will be glad when this wound is completely healed again so I can quit worrying about things like this. Celulitis though is another factor for me from time to time as well. But I am doing what I can to take care of myself and learning things that can help all the time. It is just a thing I unfortunately will always have to live with.

I have a wrap over it, and I have guaze etc. on it to cover the wound while I am at work. I try not to get it exposed to anything there, but also need to remember when changing the wrap, and/or my socks to not let them possibly touch the wound area as well.

Oh no, you work in a dirty environment? Is there any way you can protect your wound, which I am sure you are, but more so? Can you ask your doctor what you can do to make sure it doesn't get worse form your work? Like a special bandage and changing and cleaning it several times a day or something?

Me too my friend. Me too. It does seem like it has been forever, and it is now at a stand still. But I am believing God is in control and something Great eventually will have to come from this.

Okay, somewhere along the line I missed it. Your insurance said you had to change doctors? Did the new one even read your history? I hope they do not just keep doing this to you.

I don't think it was my Insurance. I think it was the wound healing center themselves, but you never know. Because it was almost like starting over again, and I really did ever ask any questions. But we will see when I go back in there this next Thursday what the wound looks like. Just amazed me that they debreded it when I was not on any antibiotic and then just left it, expecting this to help it heal?

I am sorry to hear that you are still having problems with this healing. I think that the doctors are causing it not to heal more than they are helping. I also think that chronic wounds are harder to find medicine to aid in the healing. If you want to send me a message at Slaters431017174@aol.com and share a little more about the wound and what caused it, I might have some suggestions on what might help.

My friend, I think they are finally listening to me a little bit, and maybe wondering the same thing, because personally it has not gotten any better, and it is quite frustrating. I wonder sometimes why they do not think with concern when someone is Diabetic, and prone to infections when they try debreding a wound, and then it just does not improve. Ready to try about anything now and Praying for Gods will.

Well it has been a long drawn out process, and for some reason something that just does not want to get better. The wound was looking so good around the first of the yr. before switching Doctors and having him decide he needed to debreed it, and now the wound is not getting any better at all. Thinking he mad a BIG mistake and ready to start thinking about if there are other options that are out there for sure.

My Mom was a diabetic as well & I remember when she had this horrible looking hole in her leg. My sister would clean it out w/ peroxide & bandage it every day, but it would not heal. She went to the doctor & I remember he gave her this salve that she had to put on the wound two times a day after cleaning it out w/ peroxide & then bandaging it so no dirt got into the wound. It did eventually heal, but it took forever for it to do so.

Thanks my friend. It is looking a lot better, or I think it is, but waiting to see what they decide to do next on Thursday as I am seeing a new doctor at the wound center now.

I'm glad that you are getting a new doctor to work on this. My prayers are with you as I know you have been dealing with this wound off and on since I met you here on MyLot. When it comes to health, its always best to speak up to the doctors with any questions or concerns you may have, because if you don't say anything the doctor won't know. Since you have had the debreeding tends to make things worse, please remember to speak up if you know the doctors are recommending it again, and refer them to your medical records of having it before. I pray that soon this wound will be healed for you!!!!

Thanks for the Prayers my friend. I know that has been a lot of my thoughts as well, and it is one thing I have mentioned and so I think they are finally listening and so this should help. They switched me to a New doctor thinking this one would help get my Leg healed sooner and I am really hoping that they are right. Only time will really tell from here, but I think it is going to be a good month at last.

Yes, I am keeping positive my friend that things go better this yr. in getting the wound healed. It always seems like everytime I take one step forward with it getting better, then about a week or two later it is like taking 2 steps back. Just keeping positive, and knowing God is in control.

I certainly have an understanding of slow progresses! I am living in one too! And boy can it be frustrating. That doesn't negate the thankfulness that is in my heart that there is progress being made.. but boy can it be discouragingly slow! I pray you have a good 2012 too!And I certainly hope it begins to heal again so that you can see more progress.

Well, for me it has been a long struggle, and uphill battle. Makes me wonder sometimes when sometimes you see progress and other times it just seems to be standing still. I think sometimes it it just Gods way of allowing me to be able to Trust him more and believe one day this will all be over, and it was truly worth the wait.

Yes, but to think now I had to switch to a new doctor just because this last one had no idea how to do anything. So I just continue to trust and believe and know that one day this too shall pass, and it will have been worth it all.

Makes me think of an old hymn-- Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word..just to rest upon His promise, just to know thus saith the Lord.. Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him, how I've proved Him o're and o're... Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus -- O for grace to trust Him more...

I am sorry you are still having problems! This has been going on for a long time, and I can see why sometimes you question God. Maybe you should try another doctor. This is still at the wound center right? I can't think of any other advice to give you. It seems like you have tried everything else.

Well, when one doctor fails and there are others there who would work with, and treat me that is what I have chosen to do. I cannot believe some out there are always so negative and often hope in the end karma does not come back to bite them. Just waiting to see what is next and hoping to post more of a positive update really soon.

I hope things get better for you and I know that you have been doing everything you can to take care of yourself. It sounds like you get a lot of love and support from your family which is good. I know it can be hard if you have to go through things by yourself. My husband has not been well between being diabteic and having a serious foot condition called Charot's Foot. I am taking care of him since he cannot get around on his own and instead of my parents being supportive and helping us out my mother expects me to spend a lot of money to hire a nurse so I can get a job. First off we do not have the money for a nurse and secondly why waste money on a nurse if I am capable to taking care of my husband and besides my husband does not want anyone except his wife taking care of him.
I wish you all the best.

Thanks my friend. Unfortunately there will be many out there who will never relate with what I or you have to go thru and always try to offer advice that may not always be the Best. I am glad I have a supportive understanding husband. As for others, especially on our jobs it has been interesting, but one day this will be over and I know it will be for the Best.

Well, here it is September and I am still dealing with this, and just switched doctors again. Here's hoping that this doctor is able to help figure out what will work for me, and then go from there to finally get this wound healed.

Thanks for the prayers and continued prayers are appreciated. I am now getting ready to see someone different at the wound center and will be updating after I find out more of their next plan of action this week. It has been a long journey that I am ready to see end.

I have followed as many of your discussions as I could and it sounds like your doctor is doing more harm than good from what I see here. I hope that things have started going better since 8 months ago, but there is no guarantee on that. With any luck, you are fully healed by now or at least on the road to recovery. Have a great weekend!!!

Hi Tina. I haven't been keeping up with the other discussions you have started on this illness you have, but I am very sorry you are having to go through this. I have a super good friend from church I used to attend, and she has had many similar battles with diabetes. She just keeps hanging in there with her strong faith and fights it all she knows how. The prayers are so helpful for her faith and the illness. I wish you the best and will pray for you right now. God bless.

I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I certainly do hope that 2012 is going to be a wonderful year, not just for you, but for everyone. I know that the struggles that so many of us went through last year should entitle us all to have a wonderful year this year.
I hope that the treatment does get the wound on the right direction in continuing to heal.
