With this morning's turn of events...and my privacy now outed...I was just hit right between the eyes, with something I had not thought of, reading all 105 responses on "myLot's"...and all in Lambie's post! ARE ALL of our Private messages....now an Open Book, too??????

Good day...good friends! There was a huge pile of hoopla here n myLot yesterday breaking early morn (my time)and if you go to Forever_The_Lamb's discussion on Page 2 of MyLot discussions and read this post; "here's a quarter, call some-one who cares"...it will give you the basics of the battlefield! Many of ours personal data...e.g. you; bunnybon, your real name, address, etc., is all shared on the new myLot trial site...and Googling your user name will give you the same personal data...pages cached there! For the month or so..this site was up...by Googling your real name, all your discussions would be available to all public..including any of those that we may not want some people to see..like about family, friends or bosses. Nothing we have done here on this site was private anymore... @the sids...so nice to see you back, dear Bro! The discussion by Lambie that I have noted above will give you good basics as to what all the hullaballoo is about!

These are just the right words I would have keyed in too. I have been away from MyLot most of the past several weeks now and I just logged in today to check if there was any discussion to respond to and I too got that alert but I guess, it is already too late...

I would imagine not. But I don't know for sure. I would think people would have to login to view all of that unless the whole sites security was messed up because of this test. In which case I would be more concerned about paypal emails floating around or something like that. But I think all things you see while logged in that you can't not logged in is a seperate thing. Especially because each person's messages etc are protected by our passwords along with only we can view OUR messages, no one else unless sent to, can.

Sorry, echo...but private messaging is not protected by my password...anyone on my friend's list, I can PM without using a password! I just would like an assurance...a definitive answer...and I guess it will be something that I need to address Admin with...

Thanks, echo....I wish, truly wish I could have faith about this place I felt comfortable with for so long! An old friend (myLot) of 6 years + has just turned the tide on me, and exposed my secrets. I get very hurt with friends that do that...and I lose my trust and faith in them! MyLot was a place I could come and relax...and NOW, that ambient feeling has been stripped from me...and probably hundreds of others...NO comfort zone left. Thanks for taking your time, amongst this hoopla to respond!

No one can see private messaging without signing into the site. Without signing in you don't usually even see the option to "private message" so it is protected by each and every one of our passwords. You don't have to input a password to send one but you're already signed in... see what I mean?

I'M NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT IT. People that are smart w/computers can get all your info if they want it. I don't know why in the hell they would want mine, they'd be awfully bored, lol. I don't use credit cards so i think that's a plus when it comes to such as this. Had to have the nail on my big toe removed thurs. So not only am i a sore tail i also am sore toed.. Have a good night. love u.

I haven't seen anything that would lead me to that assumption. No Open Books that I know of. But weird things happen. Just keep an open mind.

Sorry, my dear Celtic...I feel bruised and battered, and VERY, VERY insecure, as to what I can believe or NOT, after today's huge revelation..and my level of trust is SUB-ZERO!! My bestfriend, myLot...just exposed my trusted secrets! I am looking over my shoulder...and truly DO wonder what they "hey" the long-term results of this may be...just NOT today, but one day we are sitting at our computer, and we wonder where the "HE!!" did that come from.."OH, yeah...it's from the breaching!" NOT excited about where this path may lead!!!!!

I know first hand how you must feel. I have been betrayed by a person I thought was one of my very best friends. I had known her for 35 or more years. She actually accused me of stealing from her. I am not that kind of person. Then after three years she contacts me and wants to re-establish the friendship yet still thinks I may have stolen from her. THE NERVE! Why even bother if you STILL feel the person has stolen from you? SOme people are just WEIRD!!

Hi my dear virtual mom I hate what I saw that day too! My real name's there, I even saw yours... but don't worry my memory isn't good enough, I just remembered your first name. All I worry about that day was if someone searched for my name and would find out about my space here in myLot. I don't normally share a lot to my acquaintances and friends. Just a few of them will know what's on my mind. And the fact that they can see my activity here worries me. So far, the PMs wasn't messed. And Thankfully it was quickly removed.

What I've seen was my full name and location. Thankfully the location is incorrect. All my comments and posts are there too. I actually got worried that my name is there with all my activities posted. I instantly informed an inactive myLot friend about it and she was also not happy about it. Especially for her that she have discussed a lot of personal things about her life before. Yes you are right, we have been breached. And I do hope it woill not happen again.

Lamb really got everyone going and worried too. Hehe well I have not heard that our messages were seen publicly but only our profile. I would really feel darn angry if I had my messages displayed on any of the pages here for every one to see.

I read about the changes about an hour ago and not sure about a lot of things now. It sounds like many people saw things I didn't and it always makes me nervous when programmers start showing changes to a site to a few people. I'm not sure what is safe these days. I would send out a message to Mylot and ask them.

Wait, you mean everyone saw everyone's private messages too? I'm thinking mylot should have done way more than just two days of quadruple earnings.

I would hope not. I rarely, if ever, give out private info over the net for that very reason but other people have pm'd me with personal information they felt they could share and I'm concerned for them. I kind of doubt that the messaging was visible but the fact that anything was is disturbing. There are certain precautions and techniques that people use to prevent a test site from being seen--at least the professionals do. I'm usually forgiving of mistakes but this one affects too many people.

Heavens. I hadn't thought if that. This whole plot thickens. This is the danger when attempting social experiments with live data.

Yeah, perhaps they should have done this differently like, using code with not live data... done the work for the site offline... something.

If nothing else about the site was/is secure...why would that be segregated? I have made wonderful friends here, whom I have shared things that I would like to remain personal....and I have also shared, very definitive info, like adress, phone #, etc. Makes one wonder if there are any vendetta's out there!

Thanks for this discussion, do you mean to say, our private messages here in mylot can be read by other members? I think it is between the 2 only, even the administraor should not read them.

Hi Big sis- I am surprised to read this but I have not yet felt any such incident with me. Also even if it happens, I have nothing in mail box to hide. In fact, thee is nothing at all apart a message by boss himself.

Hi pergammano . . . I am a bit PO'd over this . . . as you know I like my anonymous status here or anywhere. I think I can trust my fellow myLotters that they won't intentionally find me to cause any harm nor stalk me . . . but one never knows, right?? Private messages are supposed to be private - but um, I thought our identities here were supposed to be private too!!! Argh !

You betcha I am! I shared a lot of private info, with some of the great friends I have made here....things that I would NOT share, other than in private life! I don't know what you mean by nothing to hide...I don't wish my name, the things I have discussed..my phone number to be out there in cyber world!

Private messages are by purpose a closed book but with the new technologies it seems nothing is confidential and it is true that sometimes while reading the discussion you forget the passing of time.
