We need a save draft feature!

im very upset! I just had a nice post all typed out but lost it. I switched tabs for a moment on my iPad to copy a link I wanted to include in the posts and when I switched back, my post was gone. I should've known to write it in a text editor first Wouldn't it be nice though if MyLot had a 'Save Draft' feature where we could save a post we are working on? That way we could finish it up later or make sure it didn't get deleted by accident.

Great suggestion! Putting this on my suggestion list. I can't guaranty anything of course though, I have no idea what it would take to implement.

I'm glad to hear it. I sure hope that it happens! We sure could use it @GoAskAlice! By the way, I have another suggestion. With the old lot, admin was able to alert all members of any updates and whatnot. Is it possible to get that back again?

Good to know that Admin is on the job!

Please - pretty please let this happen. So frustrating! Thank you for considering the suggestion!

I'm finding that my touch screen laptop is so sensitive, and the keyboard to that I have to be so careful typing or poof, the text just disappears and I have to start over.

@1wldngl I love my touch screen laptop, but since the Lot got up and running again, I'm doing more actual typing and it's been a real adjustment. Time to trim back the fingernails methinks......

That would be a good idea. Although it is still a good idea to save things in wordpad or something. I have had times on another site which has the option to save drafts but then there had been a problem with the site so I lost all the work anyway!

Not really, no. The function I think you're talking about--an auto-save every so-often--would take memory & processing-time away from 'where the money gets made.' Maybe when humanity evolves and finds out it has evolved an I.P. in it's brain, and the technology catches-up, THEN we'll have plenty of extra memory and/or faster processors to where we could HANDLE almost everything automatically ... of course, then it'll just be a 'blink' to enter-&-submit a post; so you won't be ABLE to save it first ... But no, for now we need to rely on our individual processors to remind us to 'Ctrl+a, Ctrl+c' (or whatever buttons make your machine/system/browser 'select all & copy') every paragraph-or-so

@Lolaze and I'm suggesting 'the closest thing I've found to "a manual feature" ' (I wonder if there's a 'secret smiley' that points upward as if to say "did you read what I wrote?" )

I'm not saying an auto feature, but a manual one would be nice.

I have a trick I use when I have a thought I want to post on social media. I save a written copy of it to "Note Pad" so I don't have to remember it, but copy and paste it to whatever website I want as a discussion or status post.

I use a similar trick as well. However, I wasn't unable to use that trick when I tried posting from my phone. lol

@sacmom Good point. Most folks don't bother using the note pad feature on their smart phones.

I noticed there was no “draft” feature. But it's so easy to edit it didn't bother me. Of course, I've never lost my work. That's frustrating alright!

I wonder if it is because you are on the iPad. Mine comes back when I am on my desk top. I have had other sites where this was bad, though.

That happened to me once, and I couldn't figure out what happened, as i know I didn't hit the delete button, but sure enough, i had to start over. Now, I make sure that I devote ny time to posting before i decide to do something else that might end up deleting it. The thing of it is, I didn't even remember what i typed in the first place, and that made it worse, as I had to try and remember what i had said, and I just couldn't, so i started over, and maybe it was a good thing, as it ended up being a pretty good discussion anyway. Since i have been back, that hasn't happened and i hope it doesn't either. Take care, and have a great day.

I've had that happen. Back in the day, everyone knew it was a possibility, so we would use word or notepad to write up a discussion or lengthy respond/comment so we wouldn't lose it.

Dont kill me but we never had that feature here- We were always advised to first write it out on the notepad or any other application, read through it, correct if needed and then copy paste - We could only copy paste after we crossed 500 posts + participations. Now as I am old school, I prefer doing things that way as I have got myself accustomed to it. Yes, it hurts many a times when you type out the entire piece of text and it goes off without a trace. But then, in my case, the one's I lost and re-did went better than I originally expected

It happened to me once. It really is frustrating to lose a full page of text that one wrote with the heart and the time. It will be good if myLot can have a feature to save draft as sometimes we may have some ideas but not enough time to finish it to post,

You can copy your post before switching to another tab and just paste it again when its gone. Thats what I do since Im writing only using a tablet. If Im on my laptop it will not be a problem since I' ll be writing in Microsoft words first.

I did not even notice that this site has no "save to draft" button.

This site never had that save to draft button - not at least in my memory.

I noticed it the first day I posted here.. because that is one of things i enjoyed on Bubblews and even wrote about it. I used it often to save posts to be posted later.

Oh wow, I'd forgotten Bubblews had that. Probably the only really good feature about that site.

I personally do not care for that feature, as I do not and would not make use of it.

I don't think we need a draft feature because we have and "edit" button to fix our post unlike before post can't afford to edit their post. so, it wouldn't get much attention. you could suggest it to admin though.

Always use a text editor first! I used to just type everything into its place no matter what it was but this has happened to me way too many times! Always use that notepad and save yourself some trouble later!
