So therefore I don't have wrinkles..I have Wisecracks At the age you are now, What do you realize about yourself, that you are different from say 5 or 10 years ago?? Have you changed much?.. Are you content with who you are now? I am very glad i made it to 64..never in a million years did i think i would...I'd like to lose weight and go out more when the weather cools down, but for right now..I am happy!

I believe I am as stupid as I was at 20, although I have some wrinkles now. I have evolved a bit, and I have changed my mind about several things since I had a depression. I suppose that I had a too easy life before it, and that I needed to go through hard times to become what I am today. But I am certainly not wiser.

Yeah I think that is the purpose of going through hard times. It's to improve ourselves and not stay as we were our entire lives.

@topffer Sometimes that is what it takes to learn the hard way of things..to suffer through it and come out stronger..

@Susan2015 So true ! I have learned more from these 2 or 3 years of depression/failure than during the 20 years before.

I know I have changed a lot in the last five years and I do wish my health wasn't so compromised now or I would be able to do more things like I used to. I do feel fortunate to have made it to the grand old age of 75 as I never thought I would live this long.

Uhm... 5 or 10 years ago I was more naive than I am today, does that count. Physically I do think I have a wrinkle or two which I hope has disappeared. Or maybe it's only what you call a smile wrinkle?

I am still me. The only change that needs to go away, I gained in the last two years and that is anger. I don't like being angry so ... it needs to go.

@Rosekitty This is a newer anger and every time I think it has gone back into the it came from... someone does something to open the door on it again. I need a bigger pad lock.

I will also love to go out more when it cools down Rosekitty. Yes we are fortunate to have made it this long in life. I thought at one time I would not either make it to my age. I am entirely a different person than I was around 5 yrs ago. Entirely. I no longer need the things that I thought I needed then, and that is a good thing.

LOL. Wisdom comes if you make practical applications to lessons learned through the years, so as not to repeat errors, mistakes, etc. Not if you stay stupid! Lines from the Forrest Gump movie: Q: Are you crazy? Or just plain stupid? A: Stupid is as stupid does ...
STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES Clip from the movie Forrest Gump

That is the point that a lot of people miss. Knowledge is a fine thing to have but if you don't apply that knowledge in a practical way you will never become wise.

Because of various family crises I feel I have lost the last twenty years. I just do not know where they went. I am consciously happy and tend to be a "Pollyanna" type person. I am sixty two but people do not often believe it.

Gerty, you say you lost twenty years, how awful, did you ever find them? Sorry about the family crises but of course we have to do what we are called on to do. Glad at sixty two people do not think you look your age what do they guess your age at?

All my adult life was devoted to thinking of the good of others and not much about my own health, happiness and well-being. It's been a slow process, but I've finally gotten to the point that I do what suits me best. I still care about those around me and do what I can to help, but I don't feel too guilty about pleasing myself, nor do I feel it my responsibility to "fix" other people's problems. I'm content with my life, but not closed to the idea that it could be better.

@Rosekitty You are so right about raising 5 children, but I wouldn't take anything in the world for them. They do grow up to be a credit to the time, effort, sleepless nights over decisions etc. that parents go through.

I am lots older than you and lots of wrinkles too.I saw some age spots this morning coming up but I just have to get them off! I am not very wise but I think that we gain experience over the years. It would be a miracle for me to be alive in ten years - I may make five and I am just being realistic. I have to lose weight and take care of myself more.

Cynthiann, I am with you on this we do gain experience over the years.I do not know how long I will still have on this Earth but with my medical condition I would be surprised if it is even 5 years but I make the best of it.

I have definitely changed over the years. I make full use of the saying 'don't sweat the small stuff'. I pick my battles now. Stuff that won't make any difference next year I don't let myself get aggravated about today. On the other hand, if something needs to be said I have no problem with saying it. I have found that my age helps me get away with candor that would not be tolerated out of someone younger. I also appreciate the senior discounts at fast food places and other stores. I mean where else can you get a soda for twenty-five cents?

I hardly ever changed much since my twenties. I am still the same person. I guess that is because I never changed how I see things or feel about things. And also because I am honest and up front. Am I happy with who I am now? Of course I am. I was happy with who I am all my life. But, being happy about where I am now, no. That is different.

@Rosekitty Thank you. I never changed. I don't know why though. I guess I know who I am. That might be it. I remember when I was married, my now ex always complained that I was too childish. How i don't know. I worked and did what I needed to do as an adult. But I would play my music and sometimes act like a child. big deal. We all have to have fun. She was like a wet fish.

I have changed a lot in the last 5 years. It seems like once I went through menopause, I felt more free. I don't worry about stuff like I used to. I would also like to lose some weight and want to get my RA under control but other than that, I am very happy with where I am in my life right now.
