Do you ever think that you live in a very confusing world? You Betcha! Take the various research programmes and studies conducted on just one everyday item.... COFFEE. This is what they collectively produced, separately! Coffee, prevents Cancer Coffee, causes Cancer Coffee, makes you live longer Coffee, makes you die younger Coffee, reduces the risk of Diabetes....... .".No doubt there'll be a follow up which states that~ Coffee, causes Diabetes, and more!"

To claim that it is a confusing world is rather an understatement. This is certainly not the planet that I was born and raised on.

@bookbar That is the problem, I cannot remember ever moving from one planet to the other. Nevertheless, this one seems vastly different to mine.

This is the reason why because I trust nobody and I listen to my body. If I do not like something, I do not get it, but, even if I like, everything in moderation.

@LadyDuck.... So what ever happened to trust, virtually impossible to feel happy saying you can trust anything or anyone, these days...

hi@ladyduck i always listen to my body and it tells me as a diabetic I cannot tolerate sugary syrup on my pancakes so now after once eating that c rap and almost dying I know my body cannot handle it. so it miffs some of the care givers and thats tough as I m not going to let anyone ever again force me to eat syru ip on a pancake and go into a diabetic coma an t die.

@bookbar I wonder if this is done just to confuse people, so no one is really responsible if a product is found harmful for our health. There is always someone who can say "I told you".

Those studies or researches are so biased, it's not even funny. It depends on who is paying for the studies. I am not confused, I follow my instincts.

@marlina would be good if we could all make informed choices, but on the evidence put out about everything, these days, virtually impossible to do!

a huge study of women between 60 a nd 90 who drank four to five cups of coffee a day and a group who only drank one or two showed that women who drank 3 to 5 c ups of coffee a day had 90 percent liess chanse of becomining senile or getting Alzheimer disease. so Im happy drinking my fou r or f ive cups of coffee per day My mind is great and im almost 89 yrs old so Im doing great lol. Coffee is also shown to stop diabetes 'W hat c auses diabetes 2 is letting yourself get that spare tire around your wast. fat cells impede insulin on its task of ushering sugar in to muscle cells so the sugar lands instead in your blood where it does not belong instead of in your muscle cells where it is needed..

I am sure coffee never killed anyone. Having it in moderation that is. Like anything else. I remember that years ago they said shell fish s bad for us. They they said years later that it wasn't as bad as first thought. So, these things seem to change all the time.

@Hatley Well, I was told by my Endo that being I am not taking medication I should not eat any carbs and especially sugar. He said that if I were on medication, then I would be able to have some carbs in moderation. Otherwise my sugar would then go too low.

There are indeed so many contrasting studies made on all sorts of products that I really don't know what to believe about many products, especially foods, drinks or medicines, and I no longer believe the in the results of such researches. I think the best approach is not to get influenced by the results of such various studies and keep on enjoying the things we love with moderation. Anyway, no study, regardless of its negative conclusions, could made me give up on coffee!

@polaris77 Nice to meet you.... Tea is my must have tipple, Coffee evokes the Fight or Flight mechanism in my body, so I rarely go there...

so very true, I just wonder who hired the researchers and where did they come from. The items they really shouldn't have questioned are butter and eggs, first they're bad with no nutritional value then oh wait, the first team of researchers didn't have the newer tools and we just found butter and eggs are nutritious. I don't listen to any of that malarky, I love both and will eat both. As for Coffee, well, if they grow coffee in a field where there is high pesticide and herbicide usage then I'd suggest ya don't buy it.

With my daughter studying - it is said that Coffee also stimulates the mind to absorb more while studying - so she is having black coffee all day long

@bookbar who knows anymore what is good for us or bad, Coffee is supposed to produce good endorphins "According to the Journal of Young Investigators website, caffeine mimics the chemical structure of certain neurotransmitters called adenosine. These molecules, which are primarily responsible for creating sensations of sleepiness and drowsiness, become blocked by the caffeine and are impaired in their task of shutting down the body for sleep. While in the brain, caffeine speeds up the rate at which neurons fire, inducing a state of fight or flight in the pituitary gland, which then stimulates the sympathetic nervous system by releasing adrenaline. As a result of this process, some individuals feel a boost in alertness and mood, which is often associated with the release of endorphins." this is from the site itself - quoted for you. Thats why you feel like you are palpitating.

@Inlemay Well I certainly get the fight reaction, but the flight bit is somewhat awry in my body, unless you can sleep your way out of danger

@Inlemay... Hmmm, does the opposite to me...gives me palpitations and puts me into a very unnatural sleep, so just as well I'm not studying, especially the results of coffee studies!
