My cousin's birthday is this week. We always exchange cards. I normally buy her an appropriate one. I didn't think to buy a card until it was too late to get to a store. I have a supply of 'general' cards - you know the ones...a few Happy B-Day and Sympathy and a Get Well. I think I got them in the mail from some organization or another looking for a donation.
I decided to use one of those. The one I chose had 4 little row boats tied up at a small dock. Very see-shore-ish which is her thing. Oh my, she sent me an e-mail thanking me for the beautiful card and how appropriate it is! I'm glad she liked it. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.
PS: That's the first time she ever thanked me for a card.

We've never exchanged gifts, well, I take that back...we did many years ago and anything she bought was cheap....it's better to give nothing!

I cannot remember the last time that I actually bought a card. For many years I have created my own on the computer and have specially scored photographic card on which to print them, Many of the cards on sale are rather uninspiring and it is better in my opinion to personalise them.

@AbbyGreenhill That would suffice providing that the correct materials were used to print on.

True, thanks! She is alone so I guess a card means a lot to her.

@AbbyGreenhill Especially those of us that are older I would think. We do get a bit wiser don't we?

If I had a better printer I would do that...easier to buy cards for me anyway.

The card with the row boats sounds like it's right up her alley. Guess she was thrilled to have a card that had a personal meaning to her
