Are you here for the money or the moany?

United Kingdom
November 11, 2015 1:29pm CST
I read a lot of posts where people are only interested in making as much filthy lucre ($) as possible. I also read a lot of posts (probably more) where people are just trying to get stuff off their chests, sharing their problems if you like. Some might call it moaning. So are you here for the money or the moany? Or a bit of both?

I find very many members who claim that they don't write for the money. Only for fame and glory and community spirit. It's the same on all sites I've been on over the years. I don't believe a word! The site bubblews which is similar to myLot has cheated members and not paid them for a long time. What do people do? They leave the site and come here.

I completely agree with you. If it was not for money they or we would still be writing there. Lets call a spade a spade lol

Thats a very good point, many including myself left bubblews due to the lack of payment, so it was for the money even though I enjoyed that site in its good times

Everyone is here for the money, but there are two types of people here for the money. There are those who need the money and are trying to make a little extra to make life a bit easier or buy a few extras in life and then there are those who like to tell you how they don't need the money because they've got more than they need, so they don't even care if they don't get paid. But the same thing happens with both types when a site stops paying. They both leave.

There's a third type to which I belong. I don't need the money but I do care if I'm paid or not. I want to be treated in a fair way. If I'm on a site which promises to pay. I don't want to see the money disappearing in the pockets of the owners.

I am here for a bit of both ha ha! When I first joined I was in it only for the money and the longer I spent at this site the more enjoyed the moaning and socializing aspect :-)

A bit of both for me although I have to agree with @Rollo1's comment. If they stopped paying I'd be looking for a site that did.

Yeah, many left last time due to them stopping paying. It wasn't my reason, but I understand people like the income. I guess we just have to make the most of the time here regardless.

So you like a bit of both. Money is poor, but I guess it's just a bonus if you were going to moan anyway.

@bluesa I feel the same about the awesomeness. Especially as we are from all corners of the globe and have much in common. Particularly humour, which I previously thought was just a British thing.

@Orson_Kart , it is peanuts, truly. But yes, since I get to vent or chat away, who can really complain. And I have met some awesome people here

I basically came here to share a little knowledge and read a few good posts to gain a little knowledge. I just wanted a change from routine and a friend told me about this place. So I tried it and I sort of have been here for a few weeks now.

@sugartoes This is a good site and a lot of nice and interesting people come here. I think this small community is growing nicely and when a new person arrives everyone here has made them feel so welcome. Now that is nice.

I guess for me, if I'm being honest, it's going to be both. I do like writing to get things off my chest. It's kind of been therapy to me and if I'm making money doing that then that's just an added bonus! :)

Yes, we all need a bit of therapy. As long as you don't mention showers we should get along swimmingly.

Here for the funny, the happy, the sad, the unusual, the odd, the good, the bad, the memories, the stories, the new interactions, the social gain. Anything that keeps my mind occupied when I am bored and lonely really :)

Hi I too like the interactions, especially if they are humorous in nature. I know some people are having a hard time financially or emotionally, so best I can do is try to cheer them up. Mind you, there are some beyond help.

@Castlerock34 Hi, I thought I had scared you off with my shower scene. Phew! I must have got away with it I agre, it's great to interact with oyhers round the world. Like you, I don't think I'll ever make payout, but I will try to have fun in the meantime. Isn't that a strange word 'meantime' I don't have the time to be mean.

I guess it could be said, a little of both. But of course, the money here is nothing to write home about. But it helps. lol

Gosh Jim, I wrote this years ago, but I guess it’s still as relevant now. The money isn’t enough to write home about because it doesn’t even pay the postage. I don’t know about the US, but the cost of a postage stamp is astronomical here in the UK. £1.25 for a 1st stamp and doesn’t even guarantee next day delivery like it used to.

@Orson_Kart I can't remember what a stamp costs here and they just recently went up again, but I know it's under $1. As for old posts, it's a habit of mine to find them. It may have been old for the posting, but it was new to me. lol Perhaps it will be new to someone else as well? If ONLY people visited MOST RECENT ACTIVITY more a lot of these older posts that get commented on would get new sets of eyes, and likewise, potentially new pennies. But hardly anyone visits that part of the site for whatever reason.

I'm more of the first type. I do not like to moan, and I am more interested in finding solutions. Money is a nice thing to have, the more the better. If Mylot stops paying, I will not login.

I think some people need to have a little of both. I come to share little bits of information on saving money and things like that which today I saved $25 in coupons and shopping sales.
